David King’s Preseason Training Observations
Our first game against Freo will give a strong indication of where we’re at. A win would do wonders for the team. A 10 goal loss would leave many questions as to our ability to win the GF. Personally I think we’ve got the goods to beat the other 16 teams. We showed late in the season we can match it with Brisbane. Freo play that hard running, fast transition game that we can struggle against. However if you look at our recruits, we’ve improved in that area. I’m really hoping Sharp can make the wing his own and allow us to play Windsor and McVee as 2 attacking half backs. We’ve then got Lindsay and Langford as 2 further midfield options, one who can go forward and one who can play back. If Sharp disappoints Lindsay can potentially play the wing role. These guys are all good kicks, Sharp to a lesser extent on that front. Our defence looks much stronger with Petty back and if Turner continues to improve our attack improves. You may think I’m optimistic about our ability to match Brisbane but they are beatable as their first 2 finals show, they’ve also lost Daniher which is a big loss. The smoky for mine is Johnson. If he or Jefferson can make the 3rd tall role their own then we’re right in it. I like Johnson for his potential to help Max. We need Max absolutely cherry ripe in September and I don’t believe he will be if he’s needed for big minutes throughout the season. Ideally he needs a quarter and a half on the pine and longer once games are won. Johnson needs to become the workhorse. I think we have less weaknesses than last year. Langford is an obvious Brayshaw replacement and potentially with a bigger upside forward of centre. If Petracca and Langford can rotate mid/forward and Rivers has another strong year then our midfield is automatically stronger and more dynamic. Throw in an improved Bowey, Laurie, Billing’s, McAdam and Melksham and there’s enough depth if injuries don’t bite hard. As usual it all comes down to hitting September fit and ready. Early season wins are vital.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
No one seriously reads Binman, we just humour the big fella 😂

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
I’d say to Kozi we’re disappointed but respect your wishes. You need to understand that the ball is in Freo’s court. You’re worth 2 high picks to us or a player of similar ability. If they won’t pay you’ll have to see out your contract.

I likely overrate Carlton but they have some amazing talent

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
Can you tell us why the Demons aren’t worried yet

Indigenous All-Stars
When is it?

Just wondering...
There’s no way these players are getting these farms through dodgy third party deals. They would show up like dogs balls. I love the banter but let’s be realistic.

David King’s Preseason Training Observations
That first list which differs from the above post has us at 12th. He’s massively overrating Freo, GWS, Collingwood, Geelong and Hawthorn. I’d go Brisbane Carlton Sydney second tier Melbourne GWS Geelong Hawthorn Port Adelaide third tier St. Kilda (the new ninth specialists) GCS Collingwood Adelaide fourth tier Rabble

Dees being seriously underrated
I don’t gamble but I’d happily put $250 on us making the 8, that’s money for jam baby!

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
I think you’re misunderstanding the worries over Jefferson, it’s not his ability that is ok question it’s his intensity at the contest. History suggests that can’t be taught. You either have that monger or you don’t. He may have it or he may not. It has been suggested by a coach that he may not, that is the concern. Weideman and Schache had the ability it’s that next bit that remains a concern.

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
This I agree with and I too am dubious. It’s not a slight on the kid as the desire required to play this game has to be brutal. Very few have it.

Team of the Century (so far)
Robbo extracted the very best out of himself as a footballer. He kicked goals and entertained us with his excellent marking. He deserves any recognition he gets. Down playing him is showing a lack of understanding of the game.

Team of the Century (so far)
To be fair Lyon was also an inspirational leader who could drag his team over the line, he could swing back or onto the ball when needed. Robbo was a great forward but as a footballer he wasn’t in Lyons orbit.

Howe is so far behind Nev Jetta.

Dangerfield Wants Shorter Quarters
I wonder if you reduced the game length and then had 35 rounds in a season with everyone playing everyone twice. 4 and 5 day breaks, footy on 7 days a week. It’s a no from me

Actually their job is to create headlines and clicks. Objective football journalism lies outside the AFL endorsed media

David King’s Preseason Training Observations
For all Kings flip flops he’s a closet Dee’s fan. He knows we’re good, he knows we can push for it. Cornes believes in our youth. You can’t ask much more of 2 guys paid to generate clicks who work in an industry that basically shares news. I mean only this week we had 3 journos write 3 ‘separate’ articles about us that all said exactly the same thing all delivered on the same day.

The Roy George Thread
I wonder if the club is thinking the same?
