Our prime movers have terrible disposal and no ability to steady before disposing of the ball. Our entire game falls down because of this. We can’t go into next year with Petracca, Oliver and Viney all in the team. That’s the reality even I didn’t want to face. You can’t execute a game plan that requires good disposal with these 3 running around in the middle.

It’s because we need cleaner ball use at half back and as a mid he just bombs it like the rest of our experienced mids. It’s a huge concern.

Rivers would get you a late first round pick in a weak draft so we'd instantly be worse off and then we'd double down and trade Spargo for a speculative third round pick and continue to be worse off. Kev, I think you’re missing what’s going on. Both Oliver and Petracca were top 2-5 in comp when we signed them. We paid them what they were worth and protected our assets with the length of contract. It hasn’t worked out perfectly but they remain very very good players. Pickett was being courted heavily by Fremantle. I’d agree that the contract is probably too long but I think the money is spot on, he’s an absolute jet. If down the track he still really wants to leave we hold the cards. He’s ours as are Petracca and Oliver. I think all 3 make us closer to a Flag than further away and to me that’s all that matters.

I think it does translate to AFL. Not every moment of every match but he does enough right to be very close to best 22.

Not really. There’s no one to replace him and he’s being going ok. Not amazing in the weekend but he’s a good size and we know he can play. Howe is a very talented backmen who’s mobile, strong and has a fantastic mark.

Whilst some might not like the length, you can’t argue the money and just imagine how you’d feel if he was playing at Fremantle next year or the year after. Sit in that pool of sludge for a moment. Personally I think it’s a powerful statement by the club and Kozz. All power to them!
