Ball Movement 2025
How good are those 5-6 quick handballs to find space, often all whilst we’re moving the ball forward. Absolutely elite football. Langdon often amongst it as is Chandler, Bowey(who’s also an elite kick), Langford, Lindsay, McVee, Pickett and Windsor starting to get more form. That’s a lot of seriously good young talent who by the looks of it are loving life at the MFC. We’ve cone along way in a short time.

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
If we roll the Saints and then beat the Pies we’ll be 7-6 and the absolute in form side of the comp alongside GC. Why wouldn’t we make finals from there considering there’s every chance we’ll only be % outside the 8?

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Whilst I agree it’s a danger game, all games are danger games when winning is essential. For mine, to make finals, we need to win 6 of the next 8. That sets us up for a real tilt. For me finals mean little if we don’t make an impact. Anything less than a Prelim is still a waste for me.

Totally agree, not to mention just playing at the MCG, he must pinch himself nightly.

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
I’m not a huge stats guy but all the important stats have us comfortably in the top handful of clubs atm. We had Hawthorn on toast bar our kicking for goal and the last 10 mins of the match. We then beat Brisbane at the Gabba playing a relentless pressure game, we literally wore them out. Now we’ve completely and utterly dismantled Sydney, could have won by 80 plus points with off the charts pressure, sure they’re not at their best but rarely do you see a side do that to Sydney. They had no answers, none. Seriously what games are you watching? We’ve been more than impressive the last 3 weeks both in pressure and tactics. Not only that we’ve also been improving.

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Not as far as you imply and he’s missed a lot of football. Who playing at Casey would you say replaces him with an extended run of games? AMW may have been his competition but I simply don’t see a logical replacement for him.

Win this week and then let Kozz loose on the G against the Pies.

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
As someone who oscillated on Oliver, whether to keep or trade, whether he was worth the trouble, whether he would get his A game back, whether he was more trouble than he was worth, even whether the club should keep investing in him. I look at his game yesterday and think what an incredible job he, Goodwin and the club has done to get that performance from him. Watching and listening to the crowd after he kicked that goal and came off have me goosebumps. The club and Oliver have been kicked from pillar to post for 18 months and has stuck fat. Brad Green deserves some respect for that. It feels like we’ve galvanised, no mention of culture, no overt displays, just hard freaking work and honesty. Obviously winning makes these posts easier to write but what Oliver and the club have achieved takes a lot of hard work from a lot of people, all working in the same direction. Pretty solid effort and one that Goodwin deserves a lot of credit for. Oh and I think we’ve found our social media photo…..team post match in the locker room!

POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
What AJ does is he plays forward and can ruck, bar JVR he’s our only true ruck support on offer. He’s also very happy to throw his body into any pack, scrap on hands and knees and he’s selfless. There’s a world of refinement needed. He’s years away and some serious work from holding down a permanent spot in our side. His kicking for goal alone screams of a guy who knows he’s miles off the level. He's a fill in and he plays that role really well imo. Currently I’d have him in this role ahead of anyone playing at Casey. Until JVR finds form I’d play him.

PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
In Viney Out Spargo I see AJ as a stop gap until JVR finds form. In no world do I drop him and play TMac forward. Turner is a defender and he’s becoming a very good one. Petty had a solid negating game on a seriously good defender. All well atm, Saints won’t be easy and if we don’t bring the effort….. There is a world where our form is so strong we steamroll through our next 6-7 games.

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
I note though that JVR took 13 marks, surely that is a good start in his road to finding form? Jefferson kicked 5 which I’ll also take as a positive. For me if they can just keep getting their hands on the ball it’ll help their confidence, here’s hoping anyway.

Plink: the tensing motion a foot makes when kicking an AFL shaped football. If this is done correctly the player will plink in a straight line thus sending the football on the required path. “He totally plinked that”

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
I’m not expecting JVR back for at least a month. Today he took some marks which is more than his AFL form. He’s actually not one I’m worried about. Viney is the one that concerns me. 4 year contract, extended concussion layoff. He only knows how to play one way. I hope he’s ok largely for his sake but also the teams.

PREGAME: Rd 11 vs Sydney
May still needs to find form so it’s likely not the best time to rest him. Lever would only be playing if the club knows he is ready, we’re not the West Preston under12’s, we’re a professional sports club with serious and good people in charge of fitness and players health. If there was any doubt he’d be at Casey, especially since the overall health of our list atm. Lever and May need games together and to find form if we’re going to beat the clubs we’ll need to beat to play finals. Personally I tend to trust the club on this. Goodwin even admitted that JVR’s one game reappearance wasn’t what they wanted at the time. He’s now taking marks at Casey and building form. TMac, at 30 odd, will be fine having a week off, he’s fit, in form and is being managed. Clearly the management is working because he is in great form.

TRAINING: Saturday 24th May 2025
Does anyone seriously think TMac gives a rats what the team sheet says. He’s 42 and will likely be playing plenty more football this year.
