  1. I think you’re misunderstanding the worries over Jefferson, it’s not his ability that is ok question it’s his intensity at the contest. History suggests that can’t be taught. You either have that monger or you don’t. He may have it or he may not. It has been suggested by a coach that he may not, that is the concern. Weideman and Schache had the ability it’s that next bit that remains a concern.
  2. This I agree with and I too am dubious. It’s not a slight on the kid as the desire required to play this game has to be brutal. Very few have it.
  3. Robbo extracted the very best out of himself as a footballer. He kicked goals and entertained us with his excellent marking. He deserves any recognition he gets. Down playing him is showing a lack of understanding of the game.
  4. To be fair Lyon was also an inspirational leader who could drag his team over the line, he could swing back or onto the ball when needed. Robbo was a great forward but as a footballer he wasn’t in Lyons orbit.
  5. Howe is so far behind Nev Jetta.
  6. I don’t believe you, he’s contracted. It’s the King’s ransom or he stays
  7. Jeremy Howe? Get fckued
  8. Put him and Luke’s on the long term injury list and get George and Culley on. Fit, young and keen.
  9. That’s bad news for the Kolt. He’s got time
  10. Where the [censored] are the reports!
  11. I wonder if you reduced the game length and then had 35 rounds in a season with everyone playing everyone twice. 4 and 5 day breaks, footy on 7 days a week. It’s a no from me
  12. Actually their job is to create headlines and clicks. Objective football journalism lies outside the AFL endorsed media
  13. For all Kings flip flops he’s a closet Dee’s fan. He knows we’re good, he knows we can push for it. Cornes believes in our youth. You can’t ask much more of 2 guys paid to generate clicks who work in an industry that basically shares news. I mean only this week we had 3 journos write 3 ‘separate’ articles about us that all said exactly the same thing all delivered on the same day.
  14. I wonder if the club is thinking the same?
  15. Would you swap him for Kentfield?

Shaun Burgoyne’s knees were apparently shot when he left Port, he went ok as a Hawk, played a few games from memory.
  17. I had a son and a daughter. They didn’t get to choose. Both remain Demons although not as passionate as me. That’ll come. Personally I would have stopped feeding them if they changed teams. Their great aunt chased them hard and I gave her short shift. My ex and my new partner and her kid have all come on board. If you want me I come with the Demons, end of story.
  18. That’s the plan
  19. Just get George in the list pronto
  20. If you’re in your 3rd year as a key forward and part of your role doesn’t involve those things then you’re a bust already. Hitting packs with ferocity is the absolute bare minimum for Jefferson, it’s why I think Johnson may be currently ahead of him in the clubs planning.

I think the reason clubs tend to go mids first is that the best first round mids are often plug and play whereas key position players tend to take 3-5 seasons to reach the ability to hold down a key position for 23 rounds. Currently the league is incredibly even and it really feels the top 12 teams are all jockeying for what ever immediate boost they can get and with current game style that comes from ready to roll mids. If I were at the bottom and commencing a rebuild I’d target the spine first and then fill in around it. Hoping to get a list profile that develops together. We’ve added some elite mids and runners over the last few off seasons. If Allan were to come available, which remains a substantial if, I’d chase him as I reckon his role, age and skills, including his leadership, would be great for our team. Of course the club would need to consider the costs involved but if I’m 3 goals down with a quarter to play in the GF, it’s players like Allan who get you the win. On top of all this you have Tasmania coming and that’s going to cause 2 things to happen. Clubs will be reluctant to give up high picks and there’s going to be some serious pick and player trading.
  22. I don’t think Johnson is ever going to be a high possession player, that’s not his role. He needs to relieve the pressure from our other forwards and Max. He needs to run hard, compete hard and hit packs with a real ferocity. This is why we got him, these are the things that Jefferson doesn’t appear ready to do.

Firstly I think I was very careful not to snipe, even adding humour to my reply, which even made me laugh but laughing at my own jokes has long been a habit. I’d take Allan as I’d take any A grader for any key position. The best players make the team better. I agree regarding JVR as I also see him becoming a top liner. Key position players are the hardest to come by, always have been. Allan is a 75 + a year goal kicker and I just can’t see how he wouldn’t make us a better team. I’m also looking around for a May replacement and there’s a couple running around for GC and GWS who surely want to play for a real club.
  24. I need more reports….More!!!
