If we take Longmire I’m done. He’s finished as a top level coach. There’s a use by date on everything and he’s reached his. Football Director, sure but if we go for a new coach grab the best assistant available.
  2. Viney’s been an excellent player for us, yes the contract is too long but only if the price is exorbitant. Stop belittling his career, he’s a great of the club. Not only has he played his share of cracker games he’s driven standards.
  3. As an option we could take White and Sinemma, trade out The Brand and take Butters. That’s a pretty good result for us.
  4. I’d have a crack at Butters
  5. Any idea if he’s expected to be a highish draft pick?
  6. One thing I truly hate is “honourable “ losses. The ones where you are watching the game and the 3-4 goal margin remains from the Cats initial burst. You sit there and watch as we draw to within 12 points with 10 minutes to go only to see the Cats kick an easy out the back goal. These games are truly grating.
  7. Kolt’s likely to be limited considering his time out. Hopefully he gets a good run at the second half of the season. Having those 5 up and about will make our team so much better.
  8. Does anyone here know anything about Toby Sinema and is he our NGA?
  9. Without Windsor and McVee we don’t currently have the drive and precision off half back making our new game plan even harder to implement. I’m looking forward to having those guys and Lindsay in the one team and in form. I reckon we’ll see some big strides forward. Yes our form is woeful but don’t underestimate the impact the loss of these 2 have had on performance.

Let Goodwin see out the year. Then search through the best assistant’s and then make a decision. I want the next great coach not the last. We need fresh ideas I think but although I’m cooling on Goodwin he deserves the year to see how he manages what’s proving a tough period.

I’ve just switched to dark, I like it!

I’d move Richardson on and see if I could get Adam Simpson in as football Director
  13. I can’t see us trading anyone unless we end up better off. Anyway you look at it The Brand is 2 high draft picks, Oliver is 1 top 15 pick and Kozz is 2 top 20 picks. If they were to all go I’d imagine we’d get picks 6,9,11,12 and 18 but we’d be paying some of the contracts. Of course I’m guessing!
  14. At my rate of posting some of it’s bound to make sense!
  15. We got towelled up by Rowell, he ain’t that fast. Get Kozz and Lindsay in there and see if Rowell runs away from us then.
  16. Trading Petty, no one bar Kane Cornes says we were offered a top 10 pick from Adelaide. At the time he was a top line defender who we were thinking could be moulded into a forward. We have a dearth of quality talls and he’s young and a quality tall. We need him to stay on.
  17. We picked up May, Lever, Hibberd, Langdon and Brown and won a flag. We then gave long contracts to absolute stars of the game in Petracca and Oliver along with Brayshaw. We then kept our high picks and drafted JVR, Windsor, Tholstrup, Langford and Lindsay. We recruited some cheap stop gaps along the way. Our recruiting has been excellent and can people tell me who we should have recruited that was available and would have led to the bank of young talent we now have. You can’t have both. Big stars cost big money and high picks to recruit. Had we gone that way they’d be no young talent and would we be better off??? Injuries cost us the 23 flag, we were Cherry ripe prior to Petty going down followed by Melksham and then Gus. It wasn’t drafting that cost us. You can’t have it all.
  18. Me too although I think they’ll stick with Howes.

I have to disagree with this completely. Grundy was next to useless anywhere but at the ball ups and he wasn’t that good at them either. We rolled the dice and it failed. The team failed in 23 because of some bad injuries and poor kicking. I’m not sure how Max forward helped that.
  20. Why do I get to Wednesday and start thinking we’ll win our next game? Deelusional or maybe not?

Goodwin’s put his job on the line. Don’t underestimate the stress this guy is currently under. He’s got ego’s playing poorly and not doing the team things. He’s got players ignoring team rules. That goal to Noble when he ran past Rowell showed Fritsch and Sparrow high fiving and The Brand arguing with the umpire, like that has ever worked. That goal doesn’t happen in 21, it doesn’t even happen last year. That’s a significant drop in standards. I don’t put these instances at the feet of Goodwin but if they continue to happen he’ll take the fall. If we don’t start seeing our leaders falling into line then they are marking their cards, Goodwin becomes the collateral damage. Let’s just see how much this experienced group really love their coach and team mates. From where I sit it’s currently all talk. These guys know the gig and they can rectify the stoppage game and start bringing our young talent into the game. The fact Langford was far and away our most damaging mid is an indictment on the others. Watching Petracca burn team mates forward of the ball to kick long says a lot about where his head is at. Let’s see if the response comes this week because on paper we have the talent.
  22. The new software screens out poor quality posts. Try adding some facts or maybe some humour. 🤪

    Exactly
  24. Love hearing that about Tholstrup Sounds like we’re rolling out the same midfield but Rivers going back. Great news about Lindsay, sheesh we dodged a bullet for once.
  25. But we lose Petracca and Kozz. I understand where you are coming from but it’s a massive gamble. I’d much prefer to see Petracca and Kozz lead the current list of quality youngsters for the next few years. As every day goes by I’m leaning more towards keeping our talent and moving Richardson and Goodwin on at years end. I think that’s where a fresh set of eyes is most needed.
