Our fitness and training schedule in 2025
Just one of the numerous things that needs looking at.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
I'd say Scott made it pretty clear the whole club was laughing at our coaches. We were flat out embarrassed. The fact an opposition coach and player would ridicule us should see us breathing fire but can we even do that?

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
If The Brand wants success then he has to drive it. He's good enough and fit enough to play like Dangerfield well into his 30's giving him plenty of time to achieve further success when you look at our young list. Oliver either keeps his head down and keeps improving or he gets traded, whether that be for peanuts or gold doesn't really matter. There's only one version of Clayton this club can maintain. Whilst I understand the importance of Gus it was long enough ago for another leader to step into the void he left. We're embarrassingly short of leaders and that's something that needs to change. Bottom line as every loss happens its 2 people most in the gun and that's Goodwin and Richardson, you can probably throw Choco into that as well. The wolves are at the door and I really hope we have the leadership at board level to navigate the next 6 months. Buckle up folks cause here we are again.

Recruiting - where did it all go wrong
MaCrae’s knock is his disposal, I’m not sure we could justify another poor disposer.

And protecting what little confidence the players have left.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
Possibly but by all accounts of the preseason we should be fit.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
I’m not convinced we know where to run and spread to. I’d release the shackles. Just play on, set your defence and then handball or kick forward at all costs. Everytime we start chipping it around the back half we just give the opposition time to set.

I don’t think it’s fitness as much as the way we are playing. It’s deflating, playing a slightly different way every week is not helping

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
The most frustrating thing is we played the game not to get belted, not to win but not to lose by too much. There's only one way to play when you have our list and that is to win. Give the players some licence to play on, to kick into the corridor to run. We have nothing to lose and if you want to learn to transition fast then set your defence and go for it. We're better off turning it over going for it than bombing it down the line and turning it over. So frustrating.

New coach prospects
Simpson as Football Director New Assistants bar Chaplin and Bassett Best Assistant in the Kingsley mould as coach Brad needs to tell Simon he's got 6 -8 weeks and he loses a week everytime he says love or vulnerable or they train with a soccer ball. I'd be on the hunt for the next coach right now. I'd also allow Goodwin 6-8 weeks to show he has the players.

Is McVee back this week? If he and Lever are back and we can demote Petty or TMac our defence will both be stronger and have more run.

Recruiting - where did it all go wrong
We kept our draft picks for JVR, Jefferson, Windsor, Tholstrup, Langford and Lindsay. On top of this we paid our stars big money as any club would have done. You can’t do either of these things and recruit the big names you seem to think were available. You seem to conveniently forget this. Our recruiting has been good and our drafting has been for stop gaps.

Time to start a rebuild?
I'd be seriously offering essendon either Petracca or Oliver for our first round pick back. (I'm very happy with Lindsay by the way)

How many players have improved ?
1 word.......Burgess

Time to go Goody?
The Brand should watch Dangerfield and play like that. Oliver should watch Rowell and get serious.

PREGAME: Rd 05 vs Essendon
When you have talent like Oliver, Rivers, Petracca, Bowey, Spargo, Petty, JVR, the list goes on, all playing below their best you’ve got an issue. I remained a little hopeful last week but last night we looked like a bottom 4 side trying not to get thrashed by a top 8 side. Geelong aren’t even that good ffs. We allowed Geelong 160 marks, that guarantees you a loss, we weren’t even trying to win, that’s inexcusable for mine.

POSTGAME: Rd 04 vs Geelong
What about the sitters the Cats missed? Kick those and we lose by 60. We were embarrassed, the Cats had a world record number of marks when everyone knows keeping the ball off them virtually guarantees you a win. That’s on the coach, plain and simple.

Harvey Langford Rising Star nomination Rd 3
Disagree, he has all the moves, poise and class to be an excellent mid. Pace isn’t an issue in that his reaction time is fast.

PODCAST: Rd 04 vs Geelong
My biggest concern is whilst I think we’re a much better side than this I don’t think the team we have will ever master this style of play or will become Premiers playing it, so that begs the question, Where are we? To win flags you need to be the best at the dominant game plan as we were in 21 or you need to be developing a game plan to counter the dominant plan and simultaneously be recruiting players to undertake that plan ala Hawthorn. This is a 2-5 year project unless you’re lucky ala Collingwood in ‘23. So that brings into to serious question where Goodwin sits. Firstly I don’t think he has the players or the plan to achieve ultimate success within his current contract nor do I think he’s going to coach beyond years end. So if you’re a club that values Flags above all else he’s officially deadwood. Thats harsh and I like the guy but me liking him won’t win us our next Flag. It’ll take a new coach to do that. So do we rip the bandaid off or hunt for a new coach in the backround whilst letting Goodwin show us what he can do for the remainder of the season? I'm against sacking a coach mid season but there comes a time. I like how the Swans handled it to be honest but I'm not sure we have the assistant to take the reins long term although I wouldn't know.

Time to go Goody?
That’s harsh, Green hasn’t put a foot wrong and can stand aside satisfied he did pretty much exactly what he’l needed to.
-
Time to go Goody?
Longmire is not the answer, he’s done as a senior coach. It’s like when Carlton took Malthouse.

Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
I blame him. He’s paid plenty in a contract he was happy to sign. Now it’s tough he wants out. Blokes a complete [censored]
