  1. Only way I can see is getting pick 11 as part of the Grundy deal is if it’s a swap with pick 13. Pick 30 & 11 for Grundy and 13. Would be about right too. But pick 22 is a fair trade as well.

Giants should be out of sight. They will still get up but making it harder than it should be. Hopefully they ice it quickly at the start of this quarter and are fresh to face the filth.

Great thread @layzie Demonland is an amazing resource and platform to engage with some great people and learn so much about the club and the game in general. I’m addicted.

People blaming player selection and tactics are off their heads. I will admit that I’m also guilty of the same thing at times But we did more than enough to win in all aspects of the game tonight apart from goal kicking. We were on top and should have kicked enough goals to win by 4/5 goals. 3 posters in the last q. Bad kicking is bad footy they say. Such a shame to have lost the opportunity of another flag This team has under achieved ā˜¹ļø
  5. Cheers for that. If we don’t trade up with our second pick he might appeal to us. I assume you’d have Darcy Wilson ahead of him but he’s unlikely to be on the board unless we trade up.
  6. I hope club waits till after the game and then puts out a statement and that Goody and all of the players and staff just say no comment when asked about the decision.
  7. Why would they appeal they already got the result they wanted. Collingwood players doesn’t get rubbed out and helps them match towards a GF and for extra cherry on top the findings hold Gus partly reasonable in case there’s any legal action taken down the track. Couldn’t make this [censored] up.
  8. This is where I’m at too. Line in the sand moment for me. Foxtel can go, same with AFL app. I have started to really enjoy the under age stuff leading up to the draft so might explore if I can watch more of that without Foxtel, local footy might be an option too. Or else something non footy related to fill the void. Hard to see me not watching Melbourne games but not getting as emotionally invested in organisation that that has zero care about its integrity, player welfare or fans. All about the money baby.
  9. Cal September rankings are out. Cal Twomey's Phantom Form Guide: Top draft prospects' September ranking @dazzledavey36 I see Caleb Windsor is a bit of a bolter( up to 14) now. A classy mid apparently. Have you seen much of him?
  10. Too angry so got F all sleep last night. Now I’m tired and still angry. Still can’t get over the fact they put some of the blame on Brayshaw. I assume this is just to cover their [censored] in any future legal case. Just like if two cars crash into each other. The insurance company representing the guilty party will try to put some blame and therefore liability on the other party. Can be the only explanation I can think of for them say Gus could of ā€œexecuted the kick differently, or landed in a different spot or mannerā€
  11. If the AFL appeal can Collingwood appeal that decision if it goes against them?
  12. ZERO respect for the AFL now. They were losing all credibility before this but this is last straw for me. No integrity whatsoever. Players welfare, integrity of the comp matters zero to them. As long as the media and cash machine keeps chugging along. Go and get stuffed
  13. If you can’t see the person 5meters in front of you that’s kicking the ball you are trying to smother them he needs a see and eye dog.

Disco training with backs and forwards. Think he will be the sub. Don’t mind it either if it does happen.

Gus being subbed out of the game in the sixth minute defiantly had an impact on the result. Laurie only had 5 touches for the game. Gus has history of standing up in finals and normally has a few big moments each game. We only lost by seven so a one goal swing would have been enough. We were onto in the clearances in the second half but not the first. Gus would have helped get momentum back with us. There are certainly other factors why we lost the game- namely poor entries inside 50, a slow start and poor conversion rate as you mentioned We choked, Fritter, Kossie and Tmac all had chances they should have scored. Gus being knocked out in the sixth minute wasn’t the only factor in the loss but it was a factor.

I’m still blaming Cox head. šŸ˜‚

FFS. Bet it was that big lanky POS yank. God that game really destroyed us. Guess Grundy has to come in now as cover in case Max struggles with the injury during the game.

With the options listed in the OP it’s hard to see anything other than is being a weaker side next year if Grundy leaves. Max hasn’t got much time left on the clock- Grundy waiting to take the number one ruck position makes us stronger. Although it’s a hard sell to keep Grundy given the lack of AFL opportunities he’s got recently, him staying is still the best outcome for us. If as more likely the case he does leave we might need to bring in two players- a ruck cover and forward ruck. Armaty and Goldy would be a good result.

Still very angry and emotional over this. Hope this isn’t the end of his career but his long term health has to be number one priority and it not just the damage this hit has done but the damage another hit could do if he continues to play.
  20. Going down a little bit of a rabbit hole here that wasn’t really my intention. I’m not say Gus would sue the club. More so I was pointing out that there’s potential for him to be entitled to loss of earnings if he was to retire. He might have a concussion clause as you say- I’ve never heard of such a clause but it might make sense both in the day and age and more so in his case. But then what- we pay out $3mil?! Does that come out of salary cap over next 5 years? Is it covered by insurance? If so who’s ? Ours, the AFLs or pies? Somebody has to write the cheque. But the main point I was making is that this case that will go before the tribunal could have ramification down the track for this case and also if it sets a precedent and that being the case I can’t see anything other than a serious suspension for Maynard.
  21. I had thought suing is over the top but if Gus does have to retire and hopefully that not the case then this probably does end up in some sort of legal case. He’s still got 5 years left on his contract is that right? So we are talking over $3mil in earnings. Would this be covered by some sort of work place insurance? Even if it is insurance companies don’t like to pay out if there’s a chance they can put somebody else on the hook. I’m not saying Collingwood or Maynard should be on the hook by the way, but I think given the possible consequences there’s no way I can see him getting off without a serious ban.
  22. Yeah I certainly wasn’t responding to you DF and don’t disagree with anything you’ve said. On the contrary I find most of your post very good and think your one of the stronger contributors on here.
  23. What has fractions of a second or football actions got to do with anything? A bump is a footy action, so too is a tackle if you execute either incorrectly and knock a player out cold then you have failed in your duty of care to that person. As others have said- after the smother attempt he had options. The easiest one was to keep his hands out in front and not harm Gus but he didn’t he dropped his should and twisted his body into Gus. Doesn’t mater if he had a fraction of a second, 2 seconds or two minutes. It’s the action and the outcome that matter here
  24. It will all depend if they are also handed priority access to Sanders. If they do and can match a bid on him then I think it’s unlikely they will split 3. They would already be getting 3 top 10 picks at that stage effectively. Don’t think they would need any extra picks.
  25. Colm replied to Random Task's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Use the Hawks model. Bottom out quickly and hope to rise back quickly. They have no decent draft picks this year Lynch and Dusty are the only two older players that would have any trade value. I think it could make sense for all parties.
