  1. When you have a list manager from another club refusing to deny that they are interested it strongly suggest that they in the race. Very easy and a lot more respectful for him to say “ he’s not one we are currently looking at”.
  2. He didn’t want to play at Casey( when they were a top VFL side) but was happy to play for Box Hill? We were able to sell the idea to Grundy I’m sure we could have sold it to him. Blake Acres also left Freo for a packet of chips and would have been a much better get than Hunter.
  3. His job is to improve the list.( our list not Sydney’s )Giving the ins and outs last year he failed badly. We got a lot less for Grundy than we paid to move up 3 places in the draft. And take the kolt instead of Billy Wilson who went at our original pick. Our trading since 21 has been really poor. This will be the 3rd year we will attempt to get a second ruck in to can give Max a chop out. Not good enough even worse when we were right in the prem window.
  4. Don’t want Clarry to go and don’t think a move would be good for him. I haven’t bothered with this thread too much as Cornes comments that were the starting point for it were rubbish. Given up Clarry AND a good pick is just nuts. But weather we like it or not( and I don’t) this is starting to get a bit of substance to it with the Crows list manager more or less saying they were interested in Clarry and their first round pick reportedly up for grabs. We also know that despite what the majority of fans seem to think about trading him it was the club who first put it out there last year that we were open to trading him.
  5. Thanks. He has Lindsay much higher than others. Also has Langford much lower. Very even pool is making for some very different ratings.
  6. That’s 6 talls gone. Not sure there’s much point in keeping Fullarton on the list either if he’s not able to get a game when Max is out. He’s 23 and been in the system a while. I’m hoping Tmac will go around again for another year but we have some serious recruiting to do.
  7. Awesome news. Much bigger story than our loss. Huge result for us. Put him back in defence. Get a proper ruck forward and leave JVR up front will go along way to sorting us out for next year. I’m stoked he’s resigned.

Hmmmm. Third soft tissue injury this year. As a RSA not sure we would get him too cheap. Would you pay him more than Rivers or McVee? We would probably have to pay him more to get him to sign. If he continues to have soft tissue issues then it could be problematic.
  9. There will be plenty of options to trade up or into this year’s draft I think. the Suns currently have picks 8,9, 20 & 28 and will be open to offers. The Lions will want to split pick 15 but will need picks in this year’s draft in return. Freo have 3 first rounders this year and are hoping to trade for Chad Warner next year so you would think they would be open to moving one or two picks into nexts years drafts. Even if we don’t get involved directly for these picks there will be a lot of other picks being split as a result. Example let’s say Suns trade pick 9 and get a late first round pick this year as part of the deal- they would probably split that later pick as well. I don’t think we did a great job in trading picks last year but clubs will probably look at us as a club in decline and be more open to trading with us this year so hopefully we can do better.
  10. Agree 100%. I really hope he stays and I’d be happy to hold him to his last year even if he wants out but the offer isn’t good enough from our perspective. However history would suggest if he wants out he will probably leave this year and I was just pointing out that the Crows would be able to get it done without using pick 5.
  11. They could offer a future first if they are serious. Or they could do a deal using their FF to get a first round pick off Suns or Brisbane this year.
  12. It’s a very exciting draft. Touted as a midfielders draft but now has many key position players rated in the top 30. Depth that means some gems could be found as late as the third round. Im hoping we trade into this draft and have a real crack at it.
  13. Cal’s phantom has dropped. For some reason( my fault I’m sure) I can’t add links. If somebody else would put it up that would be great. His top 30 is a fair bit different from anything else I seen. Showing just how even and deep this years draft is.
  14. It might be smart to get a larger portion of Brayshaw’s contract off the books next year if we have the space to do so. Otherwise it will continue to be a factor for years to come as the AFL pays less and less. Gus maybe open to renegotiating if he gets a lumps some next year.
  15. I really hope we hold onto Petty- key position player of his quality and age are extremely difficult to come by. Should be one of the best defenders in the comp in the coming years. But the longer we go without him signing a contract the less likely it is that he resigns. An argument could be made that it would be foolish for him to sign now after we have lowered his wage value by playing him out of position. But given how keen he was to leave last year I’d be very nervous come trade period if he hasn’t resigned.
  16. Read somewhere the Crows would love to get Draper at pick 5 if he’s still there. Local lad who’s very highly rated. Not sure they will be keen to let pick 5 go if they think he will still be there.
  17. I haven’t been Tim Lambs greatest fan of late but credit where credits due- I do remember him saying in an interview about the time all the mouse pack was drafted that we internally recruit groups of talented young players in burst over a two year period to bring them through together.
  18. Jed Adams with 6 disposals today. Which is his average over the past 4 weeks. In a defence that seeing a lot of the ball. For those that watch Casey closely is he carrying an injury or just struggling to make it?
  19. We do tend to dwell on that draft quite a bit. Just had a look at Cal top 30 draft ratings a couple of weeks before the draft. He had Curnow one spot ahead of Sam at 8&9. This was a week before Curnow was done for drink driving and I think there was question marks over his attitude. Hipwood was 14 and Harry and Ben were 21&24. He also had Clayton Oliver at 11. We took him at pick 4. Cal had another tall in Josh Schache rated as the 4th best in the draft. Of course we with hindsight we would have been better taking one of those other talls before Sam but we also could have taken Schache instead of Oliver. In 2017 we picked Spargo at pick 29. Tom De Koning went the pick after. You can always look back and say we could have picked player x instead of player y, can’t always get them right and picking Sam seems to be in line with the player ratings at the time.
  20. Don’t love the idea of bringing King in. He’s often injured, doesn’t terrify defenders. Who here was concerned about him before Saint game?! Few if any I’d say. Hasn’t live up to the hype or wages, turns 24 in a few days so is long enough in the system that you know what your going to get. Reportedly on a mil a year so you would have to pay more than that. If you willing to pay that sort of coin you would have to pay big with draft capital too. On top of that you would have to pay JVR the same as he will be as good and probably better.
  21. We cannot go another season with Max as our only real ruck option. We have made a mess of bringing options over the past 2 years. Verrall needs more time to develop and Fullarton doesn’t sound like he’s going to make the grade. Not to mention the Grundy fiasco. Don’t think Max has missed a game since his knee injury early last year. Foolish to hope he can go another season and a bit without injury. This year’s draft is full of mids and is meant to have a fair bit of dept I’d rather we draft mids. If our recent trading is anything to go by we are much better at drafting than trading.
  22. Someone suggested Jack Silvagni earlier in the thread. I don’t mind it. He will be very restricted for game time next year competing with Pittonet and De Koning for ruck and their forward line is well stacked with talent. Just off an ACL, there was lots of speculations before he signed 2 year contact last year that he might leave. Would be able to give Max a chop out and allow JVR to stay forward. Wouldn't think he would cost much either.
  23. Give him a run against the Suns in a few weeks. Be interesting to see how he would go on MacAndrew.
  24. The Suns have pick 20( one of Norths end of first round free hits) which they will probably be willing to trade giving they have 3 first round picks and a academy player rated in the top 10.
  25. We were top 4 this time last year and he was sorely missed come finals. You’re right, he’s a top pro with a great attitude I’m sure he’s chomping at the bit to get out there. I still feel that the team has let him down a bit with current ladder position. If we had managed to put 2 more wins on the board( any 2 of the blues, WC or Lions) then it would be a very different situation he’s returning too. Hope he plays this weekend.
