  1. Big day has arrived. I’m very confident today, probably more confident than I have been for any game this season. Think we will see big Max back to his pre injury form. Think our midfield will go to another level and we win by over 5 goals. Let’s smash these one trick ponies.
  2. Thanks for that @IvanBartul13 interesting you have Cadman going so early. Probably well out of our reach even if we get good picks for Jackson. For a draft that was called the land of giants there doesn’t seem to be a lot of key forwards. Hows does next years draft look for Big forwards?
  3. I certainly get why your asking the question. Jack has lifted his game since he has over come his foot injury and leads by example every week. Like most of the other poster I think Max is a brilliant captain and if it’s not broke don’t fix it. However I’m not against his him having a more prominent vice captains role going into finals- given the on field pregame team talk like he did for the Lions game when he was captain.
  4. Why not just tell Freo we want 3 first round picks and let them do the running around trying to get Brisbanes 1st rounder?
  5. I don’t know for certain. I meant value in terms of money being offered to him. Lots of reports that Freo are offering $950-1mil. Can’t see us offering anywhere near that money and I don’t want us to either. That would have him in the same pay bracket as Trac and Oliver and probably a fair bit ahead of Max, he hasn’t earned that sort of contract in my opinion.
  6. Yes I know but it does go to show we don’t have the same value on him as Freo.
  7. Your probably right in terms of Jackson being worth a bit more than Cameron. Cameron was a proven key forward and had won the Coleman, but Jackson has a rising star and a premiership. It’s also hard for Freo to argue that Jackson is still unproven when they are offering him such a big contract. The only problem with that is apart from the maybe a player like Meek being included in the deal it hard to see what more Freo would be able to give us. Also GWS matched the offer for Cameron. I don’t think we will match the offer Jackson. At this stage I’d be happy to get 3 first round picks even if none of them were inside 10. I would be even happier if Freo doesn’t win another game this season and their draft selection gets better.
  8. Really this trade should be very similar to the Jeremy Cameron deal. By the reports it for the same money and length of his deal. $950- $1mil for 5 years. He had more runs on the board but Jackson has more years in front of him. GWS received picks 13,15 and 20 with two second round picks going the other way. By the sound of things the Dogs pick might be gettable for Freo if Lobb goes there although they would have to send something else to the dogs as well. Brisbanes pick is up for grabs too so Freo might be able to trade for that with their future first. I think if we get the 3 first rounds( Dogs, Freos and Brisbanes and send back our second round picks from this year and next that should be about right. The Cameron deal really has set a marker for this one.
  9. Just had a look at the radar and looks like a shower coming through which can’t hurt.
  10. Listened to the interview and I think he is being honest and hasn’t decided yet. When he said that his position comes into the “calculations” I took that to mean just that maybe he will be offered more money if he is getting a run through the midfield at another club. Unfortunately I don’t think he will make his mind up until after the season is over. A lot can still change between now and then. For example if Fyfe didn’t get back playing this season he might retire and free up more cap space for Freo. Gus won’t have the all the final offers in front of him until after the season is over. If one of those offers is an extra million bucks over 5 years as D4LIfe suggest then it’s not an easy call more so if that offer comes from a club in a Prem window.
  11. Another injury for Fyfe. The way things are going this might be his last season( think he is contracted until the end of next season). Dare I say it might free up a bit of salary space to bring in one or two new players.
  12. Do we know how much Gus is on? Gun midfielders tend to get paid more than wingers or backs. So if we are asking him to take a pay cut for doing the team thing by playing in positions where we have a greater need for him rather than his supposedly favourite position in midfield it not to difficult to see why he’s look at his options. It’s a complicated situation as I don’t thinks it’s a simple as wait until Jackson deal goes through so we can offer him more money. For example as a winger is he worth more than Langdon ? Or worth more as a half back than Salem? Will he be more important to our backline over the next few seasons than Petty? If we offer a bigger contract then it might have a ripple effect over the next few years, it also shows other player at the club that it is worth playing the long game to squeeze as much as possible out of the club. I love Gus and think he will stay but I’m not as certain as I was before. Edit. Lord Nev says he’s currently under $600 which should mean he would not be taken a pay cut.
  13. That one didn’t age well dub
  14. Given how tight things are in the top 4 and our run home this is a must win game for us and expect us to get up in a tight game. Max to spend a lot of time forward and kick 4. Viney to stand up again and I think Harmes will play a big game. Dees by 4 goals
  15. Holy moly. Get it done
  16. Good post mate. Agree with all of it.
  17. Cmon we’re better than than that.
  18. Twomey says the AFL would be likley to grant the exemption in the article, on the AFL website so I’d say you are correct.
  19. If West Coast are interested and he want to go there I think it get done pretty easily. As of round 15 they had picks 2,20 and 25. Given that we will probably make a play for Brisbanes first round pick that could then come into play. Would probably involve more than deal with several different clubs and LH has said future picks would prob be involved( our future first for one). But I think it would get over the line pretty easy. If he decides to go and nominates Freo then that a whole different ball game. Fingers crossed he decides to say and it’s not an issue.
  20. Sounded that way to me too Sue. Feels like our chances of keeping him are decreasing by the day. Going by the AFL article sounds like Nic Nat is in his ear too.
  21. Nah I don’t think that gets it done. Freo made it pretty clear last year to Carlton that pick 6 had to be part of the Cerra deal. I think if West Coast watered down pick 2 we would wake away unless it was for two top 10 picks.
  22. If he decides to go( hopefully he won’t), what do people think is a fair deal for him? Just had a look at the Jeremy Cameron trade. Cats gave up picks 13, 15 and 20 (article says they were all first round picks)and got back 2 second round picks. If he goes to the Eagles it’s pretty easy pick 2 and another first round probably gets it done. I have no idea how it might work with Freo. They must clearly be willing to move a player or players that have some decent value. Thoughts?!
  23. I hate to lose him and watch him develop into an superstar over west. But given that how late it is in the season and he still hasn’t signed on I’m starting to come to terms with the fact that him leaving is a strong possibility. What are peoples thought on how we should try to recruit with the bounty we would have to get if he leaves? Do we go to the draft with highest pick we can get? This years draft is meant to be full of talls but they can take a few years to develop and we just picked JVR. Or do we try and pick up a established player that could help us win another flag in this premiership window?
  24. Cracking game to watch. First time I’ve watched cats play in while. They didn’t look like a bunch of old men this evening.
