  1. Hi Jaded, I’m Irish, lived in Melbourne for 10 years and have lived south of Hobart. so not Tasmanian at all 😂. Melbourne will remain my number one team I pretty sure but I will also go to the new teams games and hope they are a great success. I do feel that the majority of people here that support a team on the mainland will have no problem just following the new Tassie team. By and large I don’t feel most people here are die hard fans of their chosen AFL team and will be keen to get behind a new completely Tassie team.
  2. After really wanting us to pick Hayden Young in 19 draft I have tried not to get too keen on a player before the draft. After all JT knows 1000 times more than I could ever hope to so I’m happy with whoever he picks. Having said that I’m throwing it out the window this year and jumping on the Duursma train real early. Thought he had an almost game the other day but looks very silky, moves well, good size already, athletic, looks like he likes a tackle. Plays the outside role that we don’t really have at the club. Only 17 so heaps of upside. Looks like he is going to be the player I thought Cerra was going to be at Carlton. He’s already been training with the club and now getting a run at Casey.
  3. Petty will come in for Shack who’s injured and didn’t have a great game anyways. Petty will stay forward- we need to be pretty mobile against the Suns and Petty covers a lot of ground. Also he brings the ball to ground and when we have Kossie and Chandler crumbing that’s all he needs to do. I wonder if we might see a change in defence with McVee looking a bit off it last week and Pig carrying an injury. Disco or Howes might get a run. JJ to stay in the team- he deserves a run of games. Melkshake probably deserves to be sub but the Suns midfield is their strong point so I think Harmes will be the sub to give us more energy in the middle should we need it. He may also get a shutdown role.
  4. Riley Beveridge had the same top 4 on his show over the weekend.
  5. After watching a lot of games this weekend it’s hard to see anything other than WC, Hawks and North being the bottom 3 clubs. So I think our pick will be somewhere between 4-7. I expect Richmond to improve and move up the ladder a bit when they get a few of their key players back, so the Suns and GWS picking up wins this weekend is great for our chances of being closer to 4 than 7. If Freo do finish in the bottom 6 we will enter this years trade and draft period in a much stronger position than the 2019 draft when we picked up Jackson, Kossie and Rivers and will hopefully have just win the flag.
  6. Hawks have a surprise win or two in them. Lost to GWS and Crows by 2&3 points. Should have been well ahead of dogs by half time but faded after that. If Freo make as many simple skill errors as they did against Brisbane and Hawks kick a bit better they are a sneaky chance.
  7. Brilliant news, I happier now than I have been after our last couple of wins. Have to admit when he didn’t sign before the start of the season I was concerned. He’s just such a joy to watch. I think those on here that put his below par form leading into this weekend might have been on the money thinking it was contract related. His performance and body language on Saturday certainly looked more like the Kossie we know and love. Such a great time to be a Dees supporter.
  8. Bugger it. Thought short break would have cost the pies in the last. Crows should have been out of sight before then. Adelaide were poor in the last. Pies deserve to be top but they are beatable
  9. I’m enjoying it. Lots of turnovers and skill errors but it’s a fast close contested game. Pies off a short break. Let’s see if the Burgess effect gets Crows home in the last.
  10. God I’m loving this death riding. Freo, GWS and Suns games all going our way this weekend. Gives me a genuine interest in an extra 3/4 games a week.
  11. Flip side of that is it gives them a bit of confidence before our game. Also no way we take them lightly now considering Richmond gave us a good game last week.
  12. Suns winning is a great result for us death riders. Confident that Richmond are a better team than Freo and we really want Freo to finish below the Suns. 👏
  13. Jeez if the crows were kicking for goal as good as we have been this game would be about done in the first quarter.
  14. Anybody know the clubs connection to Zane Duursma ? Trained with us during the summer and now playing for Casey. I’ll be keeping a close eye on him to see how he goes today.
  15. 4 points, few players to find a bit of form and no injuries please.
  16. Yesss. GWS got up with a goal in the last minute. Top 5 pick is a big chance for us.
  17. Agree that a top 5 and 10 is very achievable depending what we do during the trade period prior. If our F/S pick expected to go mid twenties it would make sense to trade up with our two second round picks.
  18. I think this could work IF the Suns finish with something around pick 7/8 and their academy player is thought to go higher. If they can’t trade up it would be a very attractive offer for them.
  19. GWS wining against Sydney too, hopefully they can get up move 4pts clear of Freo.
  20. Freo had more handballs than any other team has had in a quarter this year. Changing up their game plan.
  21. Agree. No intensity from either team. Jackson didn’t do too bad in that quarter but he hasn’t many helping him up front.
  22. Great post mate.
  23. I have Hawks, WC and North as bottom 3 in no particular order. The next 3 again in no particular order looks like being GWS, Suns and Freo. You could make a case that all of the 3 bottom teams would be interested in splitting their picks and 3 teams below interested in moving up. Really hope Suns finish ahead of Freo as they will def want to move up to pick 2-4 to get a pick ahead of their academy prospect. It’s already shaping up to be a very intriguing draft.
  24. I mean this was just a hypothetically that Cal was throwing out there for discussion. We already know that if there’s a player that we think is good enough we are happy to be very aggressive in trying to trade up. What I love about this is that our draft hand is so strong we are genuinely in with a shout of grabbing one of the highest ever rated No 1 picks. A lot of water to pass under the bridge before the draft and there’s bound to be a few that shoot up the boards. I think we will end up with at least one and hopefully two elite talents out of this draft. Thanks Freo 👍🏻
  25. This is where the problem is and why I'm now thinking Petty will probably stay up forward for a while yet to learn the position a bit better. I think he’s improving as a forward and needs a run of games there to develop into the position. BBB and Tmac are both struggling with injuries and form this year and there will times when we can’t get either of them on the pitch. We can’t leave it to JVR and Max.
