I’ll back JT to make the calls. With no word on him resigning with the Dee’s beyond this year, the 2025 draft maybe his parting masterpiece.

Kobe McDonald
I mean I suppose it wouldn’t be a shock if he went to St Kilda considering that’s where half the Irish start off at when they come out here( myself included). Be a shame though as it sounds like he has a lot of potential.

Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
If we draft both Taylor’s ( which I wouldn’t be unhappy with) and they play a game together being called by BT, we will have two Taylor’s been drafted by a Taylor being called by a Taylor. Confusing

[censored] me. How the hell are we getting trumped by the Saints again?!

Just to add to that, just got in contact with someone very well connected at Kode’s county ( Mayo) level who’s opinion I have massive respect for. “just turned 18 , lightening fast , brilliant in the air and can kick with both feet … prob best prospect to come out of mayo ever” Very strong praise from someone who wouldn’t give it lightly. I’d be delighted if we picked him up🤞

Rumour over on Bigfooty( decide on the size of your pinch of salt) that we are offering GC first and pick 37 to move up and grab LSP.

Tassie Devils Possible Extinction
That may be true but… Neither of those stadiums had to have a roof. Also the stadium in Tas will only have 7 games a season whereas Optus has 22 and MCG has god knows how many.

The Archie Ludowyke Thread
Interesting that we are now starting to be linked to a couple of players a bit further back in the pool. I wonder will we split 8. Also although Schubert links seemed mainly from random phantom drafts this link to a big key forward if from other clubs. Wonder if King want a big Gorilla as part of his set up.

The Oskar Taylor Thread
Just been watching all his YT clips and interviews. He’s the one I hope we pick at 8. Perfect for that small lockdown role, good speed and kicking to exit defence. Seems to have heaps of upside which is something JT always likes. We could possibly slide back slightly to get him and improve our third pick at the same time to get Pickett. Would allow us to move Bowser up the ground.

Tassie Devils Possible Extinction
As I posted earlier in this thread. There has been roughly a 25% population increase or 5 million people since GWS came in. About the population of the Republic of Ireland. That’s enough for another small comp never mind another team. The talent pool is there. The AFL and the clubs need to be asking themselves if they are doing enough to develop that talent.

The Jacob Farrow Thread
If we took a WA prospect at 7 or 8 I wonder if that would be reflected in a future trade should they want to go home down the track. Going by all reports and now having watched highlights of most of the top prospects I would be delighted if we got someone of McVee’s level at pick 8 and yet we only got 24 for Judd which seemed fair value. Would we have got more if he was a high first round pick instead of a rookie ?

Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
They are a very good starting point but we still need more A grade talent. For me we had Clarry, Trac, Max and May as A graders for our flag with Jackson and Kossie as emerging A graders, so 6 established or emerging.8 Max is still A grade as seen by his 8th AA but hasn’t got long left, Kossie is A grade and Langford and Lindsay are emerging. We’re still short a couple imv.

Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
Not a draft watcher but I have read he’s spent live the contested stuff much and is more likely to stay a defender rather than spend time in the mid. Sign him up for some Viney jiu jitsu after we draft him.

Agree, I think we 2 more A graders and a few role players that are elite in at least one area. Hopefully with a coaching and development staff someone already on our list might come on and show more than expected. Normally I’m all for being aggressive with our future picks but the more I watch of this draft crop the more I think we should just go for role players with an elite skill or two and save our future picks and hopefully pick up a couple of A graders next year.

Gday Dannyz, any word of JT extending his contract?

Or we could do a deal that would enable us to get Robey and Pickett. I’ll be surprised if we go to the draft with our current draft hand.

PODCAST: Trade Week Wrap
Leaving aside the draft for talent verses needs debate. After our trade period what are the positions/areas that you feel we are still lacking enough quality heading into the draft?

Grading the Trade Week
Really needs a season or more to judge how well we have done with the players and picks we have brought in. But I’m given us an A for our strategy and intent. We made the hard calls that needed to be made. Gots picks in that will allow us to add to our existing quality young brigade and build for our next flag. On top of that we brought in solid players and leaders to help us in the short term. Excited for the draft, preseason and next season. Go Dees

Welcome to Demonland: Picks 7 & 8
I haven’t studied the draft crop much this year so I’m looking forward to catching up on it. Is there any of the champ games that our draft gurus would recommend as a starting point? With regards to what we do with 7&8 I think it’s exciting no matter what. We have the ability to move up or hold- it will all depend on how JT sees the talent pool. I think we will move up to give us the best chance possible of getting an A grader but we will wait and see. Of course after I watch a few games I’ll think I’m an expert, choose a favourite from the draft pool and be gutted if we don’t get him 😃

Any confirmation of how much we are paying and for how many years?

Farewell Christian Petracca
Well done Tim Lamb, over to you JT.

Farewell Christian Petracca
Why can’t it- GWS are saying they don’t have the cap space- that’s fair enough as this came late but they can make space over the coming years.

If we get 7&8 and improve our hand for next year I think we will have done very well. Before the trade period I was convinced we would have had to pay a big lump of his salary to get deal like that. I’m hoping that the money we pay Clarry tapers off after the first year or two.
