WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
The Burgess/Bruckner factor looms large as the key to a successful season with getting 95% of our players on the park. A fit and full list will give depth and run and class plus versatility to the flanks wings and midfield. The following are ABSOLUTELY musts in this regard viz. Hunt Vberg KK Bennell!! Langdon Tomlinson Petracca Salem Baker Lockhart Harmes Hibberd Jetta Sparrow Jordan Nitschke Wagner boys even Joel Smith Hannan Spargo new boy Haydn Young Jonesy Milkshake oh and Tommy MAC for a Wing burst at the start of the game!! Roll on 2020 the land of the super fit and brave Demons with resurrection on our minds!

2020 AFL Fixture
Sorry M'Lord I am glad you are not my bean counter! Making money out of Freo Suns Port Even zGiants is not happening then 35,000 plus is necessary for Saints Bullies, 40,/50,000 for Swans if they are back in town and the Blockbusters vs Pies Tigers and Blues need 60,000 to 80,000 for a large haul of funds. This is assuming we are in the mix for Finals, And no bad weather days! Thats an average of about 40,000 each game over 10 games. Nowhere near enough I would think even with this half glass full appraisal. I am bullish about our turnaround but we have been delivered a right royal kick in the behind with this home draw and Money losing Mums Day vs Port to mop up!!

Think that Cats game was the Olympic Torch preview game in 2000. Gee no good games since 2000? QB vs Pies with Jack W sprinting the winning goal was a beauty !

Why is it close to sellouts each home game then D 17 ? Sorry jealousy is a curse If I was a Cats fan I would be in heaven with 9 home games etc. Guarantees them into the 8 each year also!

Seriously this approach while a "good idea at he time" is so flawed. You would think we were the Tigers with depth on every line! We saw in 2019 how we coped with injury to half the list and now want to voluntarily rotate young prospects that are clearly not AFL ready early in the season. Yes maybe rest Gawny in a pocket more but please don't fly the white flag each week before the game has begun.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - MITCH BROWN
Totally agree Walker is taller better mark and just as versatile!

Lachie Henderson (Drafted by Geelong)
Depth or Death ? A one year contract even rookie for a versatile KPF and KPD plus leadership YES

How well have we traded out recently?
Presumably Mitch!!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Totally agree RL. Bennell looks a real chance Martin still can pick him if we have the balls and money fir 2 years I still rate Sam Gray Lachie Henderson snd Maybe Sam Murray as players who could play a role in 2020 (and beyond) if we take a chance Gray is a Corey Wagner type who is more advanced and kicks goals Henderson is an experienced and versatile KPF and KPD who on a one year contract would give great depth while not undermining Harry Petty's career development. Murray is a speedster who may be fast on a wing or on half back especially if injuries occur. Supporters don't realise that the more you raise the bar in depth means the more the young developing players have to go to forge their career. It's a win win. Last years draft youngsters need to be challenged for their position for the Seniors through improvement and training and therein also lies the creation of depth and culture which exists at Clubs like Cats Hawks Swans And now Tigers And we need to foster this from 2018 and before but went missing last year in the medical room and surgery recovery workout gyms and running tracks! Top10 draft picks 3 and 8 will raise the confidence enthusiasm and skill level for all at the Club in 2020 and well beyond. Changes of Coaching, Medical and Performance and Conditioning Experts plus a revised and tweaked game plan are also a sure fire way of improving output and results this season if all are on board and united which seems potentially probable at this stage early as it may be. Yes momentum is rising and I really don't think the words basket case have any right to be uttered over our last 5 years NOR this year either.

James Harmes Signs for 5 Years
Well deserved contract snd shows Club And James are totally on the same page. will get even better in the next 5 years. Those comparisons with Jonesy after his decade plus loyalty and service are over the top. James will win a Bluey some time and be a part of more success than Nathan but in being a better player over his career that is another matter. His style is likely to appeal more but it's the result that counts and if Harmesy can emulate Nathan he will also become one of the modern Demon greats

Sorry DJ don't really believe it's a great effect to our Sponsors or finances! Crowd numbers the same Friday night this game will rate high and any other game (unlikely) will be held after or befit not concurrently. Do sponsors pay after the ratings are decided? First I have heard of that Sponsorship deals TMK are agreed upon with the Clubs. Any deals with Fox or Seven if paid are to them not us Iwould presume snd no effects on MFC finances. if this is not correct please explain to the naive and ignorant like me please?

How will this affect the crowd at the Friday Eve Anzac game? Any other (if scheduled and I don't believe it will be) would be in WA or SA where previous Anzac games have been held. These days games are 95% attended by the Clubs supporters (MCC members 15/20% more no doubt) so no effect in any way. Our game is locked in and FTA TV also. We just need to win 2,3,4,or all of our opening 5 or win 2 in a row prior to get 70,000 plus or even more.

Paddy McCartin
Hope some luck and good health comes ASAP to Paddy in other pursuits in life. Sad for Paddy Saints and footy as a whole.

Viney's Northern Adventure with Young Dees
If anyone says Trac is overweight they are either blind in both eyes or are so biased against him they should resign as a Dees supporter. Great signs of a useful 2 months since August. Now Trac can practice his goalkicking from set positions and not worry about his alleged fitness worries.

Back Pocket Demons
Without the years or in order the following have been pretty good Fowler, Connolly and Frank Davis I Think was a Back pocket not a flanker but could be wrong Alan Johnson played there also for a period. Others not so good Clint Bartram

Really Rusty by name and Rusty by figures. I believe I am correct in suggesting you catch the most recent podcast with Stephen Smith from Demonland if not one of the other social media groups for the latest figures. My understanding its about 22% and 25,000 members and if you recall the MCC Members was full and packed both Finals last season we played. With record membership in 2019 the MCC membership for MFC I would think would be also a great chance to be a record figure. Remember this is ONE of Gary Perts big aims to raise this aspect of our membership. I have read pretty well total negativity on the appointment of the Port figures/tactics and ideas back up man. My take is he is probably a replAcement for Jennings. We are damned if we DO and damned if we DON'T. Changes have been asked for demanded in fact and Coaching Fitness And Back Room ie OFF FIELD and so far without really landing a complete game changer or Star Tommo and Langdon add depth and run and versatility to our list. I totally expect Burgess to have a big effect on conditioning and preparation and make our players physical prep a HUGE improvement on 2019. A Sam Gray or that type plus the potential of Hayden Young At No 3 and a No 8 pick of either Ash Jackson Weightman or Serong plus a PSD choice would be good additions to the 2020 list and going forward. The doomsayers talking basket case are far off the mark and one season of down results does not make this a summer of failures with this list and changes made so far in prep for 2020 and beyond.0

Wrong Didn't read the article about the game replacing Darwin is a home game at the G. Relisten to Gary Perts announcement last week on our website.

2019 Player Reviews: #33 Oskar Baker
To be fair the list is really only Fritsch. BUT considering we are now really driving the standards Baker Lockhart maybe Corey Wagner if he can Bridge the VFL to AFL gap are all only pups in this evolution. Too many are critical of Casey and yes we need to get rolling with this investment but standard of play training and professionalism should see numbers increase dramatically in the next 3-5 years.

2019 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch
Bailey is a special talent and is a potential match winner up forward. We all look forward to his further development (more goals on the run and consistent penetration with his kicking) which will enable him to be one of the elite players in the game. if in front of goals all season then 40 goals is a great possibility and that could be just whAt we need to make up for Jesses 50!

Viney's Northern Adventure with Young Dees
Was the West Coast game in Perth (R 14 I think) and he was injured as well. He was as good as Joel Selwood in this game and his last quarter extra significant in getting us across the line, oh with Tommy's 5 goals and that last famous kick. Thst is a benchmark as us the 2 Finals in 2018 and if he can get fitness and form like that our season will be a good one no doubt.

Joel Smith Puts Luckless Year Behind Him
We actually need Joel forward so really don't know and don't care at this stage. No doubt he will be placed back if needed or he fails to deliver up front. He is very X factor which we need and deserves a full season of fitness to perform up to his considerable ability.

Why hide who the minority is? or are there too many friends in that section ? Many Club supporters would be against fixturing any game interstate at the expense of this game which Gary Pert has managed to regain at the MCG (much to the shock of his detractors since Day 1.) Ironically we should ask for either Crows or Eagles who have been drawn vs us in Darwin and give us/ a chance of 40 000 if we are travelling well and can make a profit also.
