I agree the coverage of The Camp in 2019 especially Saturdays wonderful open Day has been somewhat underwhelming. What has happened to Burgo? No longer with us ? Did I mess an email? A fantastic turnout of Dees Qld fans and really those who went would not be disappointed. Players were great and couldn't do enough to sign be photographed and talk to all ages and embrace this opportunity to meet new fans no doubt to this opportunity. Just a few photos and some summary would be great to let our fans elsewhere in Aust and beyond to show how hard they are training to get 2019 to a new level and be the team we believe and want to be the best they can be. Otherwise all going well and rehab group will feature in the JLT. Trust our medicos and decision makers. We have learnt the hard way with Vines in 2017!! My summary of Sat Open day in Maroochydore is somehow in the section headed "How our recruits are shaping up" No doubt due to my lack of technology expertise. Go Dees !!

Good recovery and positive thoughts for Shae all the best for next season

I would give 4 with option after 3 to resign early but happy with 5 also. Will lift that Cup one day and might be with Co Capts or ones solely on their own. Hope it is with both and am confident our group is still developing nicely with this year and the next half a decade or even longer in that cycle. Go Dees

Attended the main Dees Open Training Session At Maroochydore Sports Complex this morning from 9am to end at approx 11.40am then plenty of time for the oldies youngies teens and toddlers oh and babes in arms to get the whole lists' autographs. Players Divided into rehab on second oval and fit and firing on the main ground. Rehab had about 8/10 inc. disappointingly Gus Vines Clarry May Spargo and understandably Jake L Maynard Jonesy and Oscar No 2 Baker and Guy Walker all did recovery running kick to kick and slow drills with no body contact like match simulation. About 20% of the very large and colourful crowd watched this.No stand outs but May did very little Gus Jack and Clarry a lot Jake is holding himself back from kicking other than very lightly on right foot. The main group did plenty of tackling, one on one drills plus match simulation and were divided into 2 teams taking the ball from one end of the ground to the other where by a player from the attacking team ran into an open goal. Forwards did some high msrking drills using the leather support to gain height. Mixed results but plenty of set goal kicking in the match play with about 80% accuracy. Tommy Mac Weid and Keilty kicked well. Generall I add these comments about the session. Very professional and organised session. No sign of Melsham or KK on ground that I could see. Maxy and Brayden P are like 2 giraffes long legs and tall bodies a good 6 inches above others. Active and alert both. New recruits not heavily noticed but Toby Bedford eye catching in speed and once timing etc kicks in will be good. Keilty is clunking some marks and hs development as a forward May surprise us all along with Pruess and Weids development. Jeffy in thick of it and Oscar No 1 in the bucket hat did sort of stand out. Good one on one duels near end featuring Maxy and Weid, Tom Sparrow and maybe Josh Wagner. ANB still running into easy goals plus Vanders is the fittest thank goodness of his career. Couple of predictions to finish up! Fritta will end up in our best 5 players at end of this year no matter where he plays.Big seasons for Spargo Oscar No 2 and Vanders. That's a good start for improvement without and new draft recruits in the mix. Thoroughy enjoying session with love in the air as everyone dares to dream of what may lie ahead this 55th year of waiting for our well overdue 13th flag. The Baby Boomers are like excited kids myself among them awaiting September and it's outcome.

Dropping the games last season against the below sides all had reasons not necessarily complacency. Geeong R1 Negative coaching keeping extra man in defence I'm last quarter and a msn short in forward line meant we didn't score from many forward entries. Still should have won with Maxies kick! Hawks R4 Bad day all round in wet Started well but lost contact with Hawks on ballers and were dismantled like many previous occasions in the last decade by Hawks precise teamwork. Tigers R5 Nowhere near as bad as many Dees fans said. Held dangerous Tigers till we kicked first goal in last quarter then floodgates opened. Defence solid but attack inefficient by and large. Pies R 12 After 6 big wins our midfield was comprehensively smashed. Too many players in fir ball together and no outside runners matching up enabling Pies to control the ball Cic a threat all day as well. R14 Port Should Have Won, again forward line impotent but lead of 3 goals withered down in last quarter. Tried our hearts out in a courageous effort. R15 Saints 3 point loss but flattered us really. Probably selection of Harry Petty did not help defence but this was the loss that on ladder was a 2017 repeat. R18 Cats At GHMBA Last quarter lapse and defence going through growing pains.Refusal to put Frost on Hawkins and about a dozen mistakes in the last 10 mins pivotal. Why does Nev get caught against a taller opponent. Coaching issue? 8 more scoring shots!!. R21 Swans Horrific forward work and lack of accuracy again cruelled our chances.Swans smarter but again we were our own worst enemy. 6 more shots! Prelim less said the better see vs Pies for part reason per midfield but bad bad day. So IMO our forward line and coaching game day and selection are more pertinent in 2018 than complacency. Still overall a wonderful end (Prelim excepted) and best season for 18 years. Are now considered a real contender and respect pretty much from all AFL is universal. Expectations are on the agenda but our group seem hungry Motivated and unified ready for the challenge. Supporter base is holding its collective but enormously positive breath for 2019 to finally end the greatest drought currently in the AFL and indeed for the Mighy Demons.

Prob Danger had disposal about the same as Jayden Hunt but if Tom S turns out like Danger there won't be too many Dees fans upset. He can improve also ! Outside pace is the key and power with it. And he endurance factor important. Different type of mid again so exciting to add his potential to our list. Looks like he will debut early rather than later if he continues to learn and put his head down and bum up!

Surely Tommy Mac (as a forward) better than Prymke , and Bernie.

Good concept for the current team. On the path add Fritsch (bit of Tulip in him) One of our greats over next decade and of course Clarry and Jack V. Mystery Man Player Pruess Agree with in 2019 and beyond And not this year but 2020 on James Jordon. AFL Coach of 2019 Goody

If Norm Smith is considered as a player then make it a Club best team ever or 150 year team. Or make it over 54 years since 1964 and many trajicsvlike me can give greater importance to yesteryear. A team from 1896 to 1964 can be done and then the best selected from those 2 teams. Remember those who have played in premierships should IMO be graded in front of others if about equal. I agree that Jakovich on pure ability for FF and Neiter to backline as it's a bit small anyway. No real big players to play on beasts of the opposition. Also Tommy Mac in Forward Pocket instead of Brad Green is also a chance maybe Jurrah starts but Tommy in 22 and he can play forward or back as well. Greeney and Ooze fight out HF flank. if over longer period then Wellsy snd Alvesey are surely better than Tingay over a longer period and Gary Hardeman is in our Team of Century I think. (Again just as good if not better over a longer period ) Also surely Gerard Healey if Jako and Jurrah Are in over the shorter period would get a guernsey. Pre 12th flag The Cordners Ivor Warne Smith Percy Zbeames are nearly walk up starts and a plethora of flag heroes of 1954 to 64 and 1939 to 1948 also. Mueller Fanning? Mithen Roet Keneally Ridley and the greatest of all Baras. Tas Johnson Stuart Spencer Don Williams Geoff Case and Hassa Mann. Reckon the modern side would be the most exciting but the 12 flag side too tough and smart when the chips were down if they ever met. Sorry to digress but the most important now is how our current team can write itself in these thoughts after say a flag or two or dare I say 3!!! Can also be purely an AFL team since 1990. !

Good report well done think Sparrow looks like a smaller TomMac !

That's the ethic that Goody and Coaches have concentrated on in since Roosy took over. All the recruits are win your own ball in traffic and Janes no exception. Think like Clarry as a bolter and prob the most speculative of the draft choices. Honest and plenty of upside who will improve around our Club culture. All our drafts will be competing against each other for recognition improvement and maybe one spot in our early season team. On that basis the highlight reels favour Tom Sparrow of the onballers who may be more advanced than Toby and Kade.

2018 NAB AFL PRE-SEASON DRAFT AND NAB AFL ROOKIE DRAFT
58er replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Kade was all action in the highlights of about 1 minute! 4 Really tough tackles, some fantastic others might have been a free the other way, one duck and no free kick around neck, and pushes an opponent in the back to get possession, then nearly out of bounds and kicks a freakish goal. All action which is promising! -
Not sure that Casey has really been n old Boys team plenty of recruits 19/21 year olds , but this 5 plus some Rookies will be interesting to see development like you said Jim.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOM SPARROW
58er replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Competes like Jack Viney, runs like Hunty and kicks long like Clarry and doesn't handball!! as he gets clear or has enough power to get a good kick in oh and can intercept like Lever.Phyisique of Hibbo or Maynard. Great get and will be type to relish elite training standards plus competitive nature of our onballers -

Durango "PickS 53" you forgot Oscar (or maybe Tom instead!) -
What about behind goals at City end? cant you go to Gen Admission and sit there. Better to support Club than not ! if Grand Final tickets were Top Northern Stand would you not go?

Cards 13 the game is a replacement home game for either Darwin or The Alice. You are not contributing any money to Richmond ! ( Unless MFC have to give a fee to Tigers for each ticket used) Surely the seats selection isnt that bad at the G!! Its the best game of the year !
