It's not just the big beasts that can monster our defence but often we have the alternative that the THIRD tall kills us ie our 3rd tall (do we have one without May or Lever playing?) Membrey is this and Westhoff also.Who will be his opponent on Saturday.? Again team defence I suggest.

Well said Demonia We are still evolving from the worst decade of our modern era (Say 60's onward) and many roots have been planted for future long termed and sustained success. Yes lack of a permanent home is a hang up but it's been strongly identified and plenty of work in planning etc. is underway under Perry's leadership to solve this much desired facility. Again to mention membership but over 50,000 this year is going to be about 7,000 more than 2018. Trending UP. About 15% not too shabby and on field and brand success is crucial in this category. Lastly and not least it's winning Footy matches and that's the big result the W vs the L. No givens here but save for the 2018 Prelim Final disaster many of our best wins and indeed our interstate record would be the best in the AFL. And that's not playing Freo Lions or Suns nearly as often as Crows Port or Eagles at their fortresses! Oh and I think if you can remember when we last scored 16 wins in a season it would be a generation it two in our past. So the BB wipeoff of virtual irrelevancy is not quite nor near the mark as all OUR indicators are trending a growth and development pattern on an upwards spiral. BB you are entitled to your opinion but please don't denigrate or rubbish the half glass full devotees who are enjoying the ride from the Neeld days to now where we are on the brink of modern success and development in the toughest National comp in this country and possibly the world.

Exalted company no doubt A champion and we are so lucky to have Clarry and not a Parishioner!!

Sorry BB understand to a point but Hawthorn is the best example. They are the best model as they have developed their membership from small to larger an powerful. Your realism is based on years of negativity ( or lack of faith or vision) and our poor record over a period of years. We need to embrace the probable 7,000 increase this year we don't know what the season holds and a flag or sustained success will garner more fans. Sure as hell if you gave your view if you were Gary Pert the members or fans there would be no way you would get any increase. A goal gives an aim and it was never stated this year would be that year. Jim Stynes wanted 40,000 around 2011/12 and look now probably 10,000/14,000 more. We need faith and optism and not sorry (negativity) and in our Society there will always be both but the half glass full approach wins every time. We have the opportunity to start making the MCG a fortress let's do all in our power to make that happen.
  6. The media is besotted with a superstar Erin Phillips snd the rest of it has been forgotten
  7. Problem solved We don't have any outside mids!!!
  8. Lewy is available this week believe. Could he kept for Tigers 4 days later?

May never be the same and ankle is prohibiting his pace. Also he has not played for a full season really. probably underdone like some of our players were. But he is elite in preparation I recall so expect a big spike in mobility.

Dee I am not sure we can miss a forward that's played about 1and a half games albeit injured fir half of that period!! And AVB we have had fir say 6 games yes we miss him. Smaller types must be proactive and energetic on Sat to ensure we kick a winning score!
  12. I have followed his progress and marking and intercepting are very strong points if not the best of his game. Last year was a disastrous decision for both us and Harrison as his nerves and again our defensive plan was exposed by over the back goals especially. I believe with some extra kilos and development he is getting near the opportunity especially before May and Lever return. This year I would have to accept advice from Casey watchers but I thought he was quite handy and composed vs Tigers at Shepparton. I do however believe Harrison will become our first choice third tall in defence by later in the season.Only exception might be Frosty on Buddy or some other match up for the horses for courses opponent. I wonder if Oscar is worrying too much about his long term position and also not as fit as he should be from his shoulder op pre season.? Unfirtunately he has gone backwards lost all confidence and judgement and doesn't even go for marks any more or if he does he doesn't touch the opposition viz Heeney outmarking two backs at the SCG. Oscar was just a very close spectator confided and bewildered. We can't afford that defense now with the cream out injured and never really if we wish to beat WC and Woods and Tigers or GWS. It will happen Petty will get the nod but I have a feeling it won't happen overnight. Until Jake and Stephan are back and adjusted and the unit is playing strong brand of footy might be the opportunity best utilised as we hopefully build towards a meaningful September campaign again.
  13. Thought Clarry did a great example of changing the game after quarter time although Jonesy did assist.

Yes noticed that Means were in Kane's good books at last I presume!
  15. Agree CF but nice to get better quality depth!

AFL website has 1 games played and the points then % then with wins and losses which could be left out along with for and against!
  17. Good point CF i thought it was the most rounded and composed game from Josh W. ( must admit I am not one of his fans) but he hardly made an error and his ball handling on a dewy night was very good. Not to drop for Saints at least. Tigers will need defence of speed speed and more speed! Though.
  18. The more the AFL survives the less the change Carlton 2018 last Carlton 2019 last. Obviously if they win today then they will go above us so hope not.
  19. Thanks W. Many think we miss him more than any other forwards! All different skills and types if all fit!
  20. Petty Jeffy and Kielty had a good run today and in form ( at least a good week's form) Maynard is another inside mid and contested beast Pity is not an outside runner. ANB not back in reckoning. Jetta Lewy Lockhart KK very handy to very good depth Stephen May and Jake Lever Prize recruits who deserve extended period on the park to bolster the defence to near top class. AVB Joel Smith and JKH more likely ready about bye or even further injury time required.

To quote MRO Chief Michael Christian "it's not a good look for our game " Hear that Ben and Brad (Scott)

Why ? After Jesse don't tamper with the best goal kicking routine at our Club. Along with Tommy Weid is elite in accuracy
  23. What we've learnt from (Brian) Ch 7 and others is that Jake Lever is a cook maybe suitable MKR ? Demonland posters Poor maligned Trac for Fattest Losers and Married at First Sight any of our young eligible players (bachelors) in the off season to keep their fitness levels in check. Give Stephen May the producers ph. no please. Sorry for this trivia !!!

Not a good call A premature call. The whole Club does feed off CEO but I'm not sure what Perty has presided over or been responsible for? Membership already a record and will reach 50,000 for the first time by the way . Thats what Perty did at the Pies! His major role is the admin training and social complex for the Club and Finance is a key role as well. Oh and he is not really responsible for the injuries or operations or fitness of our players Any blame there to Football Dept and Dave Mission and Medico's. he didn't appoint any one either. So why will it end in tears? Because he doesn't say OUR or US all the time. Listen to his Demonland Podcast for an interview which should ease your mind unless it's already made up!

Patience is still required and Marty in place of Nev would have tipped the scales to single 2nd place! Maybe that also explains our form which we have started 2019 which is at the bottom of list similar to our place on the ladder.
