Demonland Podcast featuring Jason Taylor TONIGHT (5/12) @ 8:30pm
Have s funny feeling unless We decide LJ is in for a developmental year he will find away to feature fairly strongly in the AFL on our forward lines and even on the ball. Naturally he may start at Casey but I don't expect him to stay there all year. Aldo bullish about Kossie who will will his way into a senior opportunity early on.Ehether the big gap btw Casey and AFL is too far can only be tested with senior games. No 32 Trent Rivers May even start in Round1 as he looks a fine fit on a HB flank with Lever snd Hibbo/ Jetta beside him..His presence could well keep Oscar out if the reckoning for a KP post.

The Co-Captain Model
Yes let's hope we upset the Coasters in Round 1
-
Players to make their debut
One of last years recruits. Very promising Hb/midfielder 19 yrs only.

The Co-Captain Model
So a co-captains model is a reason for Melbourne not winning a flag and you are going to spit your dummy if it's not to your liking. Yes Maxy will make a great Captain but whether it's with Jack or stand alone it's the team g we barrack for not an individual.
- Best 22? / Next 22??

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - MITCH BROWN
Apologies to Harry Petty who will have a role in CHF FF or ChB or FB discussions. Is another who has built up to a bigger key position frame and should elevate his game to play most games this season in attack hopefully but if not needed in defence. This does alter the mix up forward potentially with marking but less pace. But at least Browny is there as depth and no doubt will get a chance and most importantly keep our KP and FP players honest and in good form.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - MITCH BROWN
Well if he trained it was against the rules!!! Some good points Poita but I believe the following is closer to the way our forwards will pan out in 2020. 1. Weid has stacked on muscle and IMO this will be the catalyst fir a real bump in his performance and goals. 2. The third tall in the forward line may be Brown (not Pruess at this stage) and/or be shared between Fritsch and Milkshake both alternating in the forward pocket or even one on one at times. Jackson could at some stage force his way into the team in a third tall roll with very limited ruck work. 3. Our smaller forwards will be any of Trac certain of playing and in the middle also, Vsndenberg and/or Hannan if fit plus if they develop Chandler Bedford and probably the small role may go to Kossie who looks to have so many tricks. Other mids that may "rest" in the forward area and provide diversity will be Clarry Gus Jonesy could play a HF flank role and Harmes plus Salem and Lockhart. Big Maxy will also Rest some limited time forward when Tmac and Weed share ruck duties. So Brown could be the stop gap or curcuitbraker in his role when selected or even act as depth in defence for May Lever and Oscar who has bulked up and set for a breakout season I believe. Smart pick up and think Cam Pedersen all you Pedo lovers.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
According to the doubters "Has no skills, too light, too short for a ruckman, can't kick, bad drop! Not great high mark, and has only bullied small opponents throughout the country, oh and has lost an AA Basketball leap in 18 mths. LJ one thing they didn't question was your heart (competitiveness ) which above all the numerous skills you possess (listed above) will take you a long long way in AFL. World is at your feet to conquer! Best of luck young man.l

A Summer Diversion
Shakespeare sums up 40 years of the last 55! Unfortunately !! Made Finals 13 times and missed closely out in last round in 1976 and 2017 which I think caused far more discontent than any of the 40 years many which F was only a dirty word to Dees fans:

Crystal Ball 2020: Your predictions for next season
I know it's only a prediction but there is no logic in Trac's one. More likely to be an AA than above. And to make a Prelim we would have needed him to star.

TRAINING: Friday 29th November 2019
May also looking at arms and physique. At least half a dozen players have made changes to weight on both scales UP Weid Petty Bedford Spargo prob a couple of others inc 2018 recruits. DOWN Pruess Trac May Hibberd Perhaps Kozzie could lose a 3/4 kilos also. While this has no guarantees on performance I believe all those modifications are positive to our cause in 2020. Time will tell.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Anyone Looking at the interview on our website from Ben Gibson that could deduce a go home factor or negative attitude is purely set for Sec or Pres of MFCSSS for the next 5 years. Luke was smiling answering promptly and enthusiastically and quite relaxed. He clearly was so pleased with himself and his No 3 pick to the Dees. As indicated by 1858 he had already been in rep teams in both Basketball and AFL Championship so he understands that at the top level you are on the move and success can be achieved at any location. I think this is a great time fir any recruits to join our Club as I believe the atmosphere this pre season is almost the best in wanting to atone for 2019. Most sports people and many Dees fans know this year was our annus horriblus And couldn't be repeated. Whether we attain 2018 standards is uncertain but if we give it everything and have few injuries there may be no ceiling on our comeback.

Rating Our 2019 Draft
Poita who does win premierships then? If not Ruckmen or small forwards who? Wingers ? Mids ? Interchange ? Selectors ? Coaches ? Seriously it's team of all Players and off field paid and unpaid people if the Club. The players we have recruited in the draft, trade and now PSD and Supplementary in my mind make us about 5 pieces nearer the puzzle fir an ideal team. With injured and underdone personnel plus developing 2018 recruits at least 2 or 3 more regulars should be added to our best 22. IMO we could have up to 8/10 new faces at the end of season ( and we need at least 6) if we are to progress as a club plus have depth for the hard times. We have cut our cloth nearly for 2020 let's make the best of it and get back to winning ways.0

Its the forward line stupid
And the return of Fritta back where he belongs kicking goals and clunking marks!

Rating Our 2019 Draft
Very good all round selections which addressed most of our needs Forward power via a left field competitive livewire with plenty of ball skills. One has to imagine when Luke is in the vicinity of the ball only good (goals and assists) will come if it. Speed and aggression plus defensive forward pressure. Kozzie is such a live wire and has plenty of tricks to enable him to survive in this tough game. Will quickly become a fan favourite and light up the G with his electrifying moves. Another defender named Rivers who could easily be even better than Jared.Very solid good Mark very good disposer from HB snd a dasher when he sees the opportunity. At 188cm will fit into our team very nicely sooner rather than later. Two good points are that he USA team mate of Luke Jackson at South Freo and that's smart in interstate recruiting. Also he will put Every one of our half backs on notice he is coming for their spot so don't be surprised he gets a chance at some stage in 2020 and grabs it. Mark A and when you think of Ed Tommo Harley and Brown possibly it's a very good haul which should enable a more expansive game plan greater speed and pressure to get us back in the Finals race again.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Sorry Rusty my comment was meant to be to Wiseblood I think who said there were very few mids in the draft That's not so because I reckon about 50% were mids so that's why I stated that it wasn't the draft I watched last night FWIW I think the Dees have done very well with 2 X factor draftees plus our trade gets and the PSD plus Harley and maybe Brown will give us a lot of depth and new talent to develop quickly. Also can't wait for all our injured 2019 players plus the 2018 draft young uns to return and develop. very bullish about our forward line possibilities now. Plus Weid Oscar Spargo who have all developed bodies to play hard and tough footy at the top .

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - LUKE JACKSON
Certainly not the draft I watched last night !
