  1. Sadly Bobby you have got home after Friday night after Dogga's worst possible game on the big stage and then seen Young play a valuable role in the Dockers win an amazing Finals game which has set them up as a future power team from the West. Then you have launched into print and changed 3 years of football performances as a result. To date LJ has been under any criteria a much better and more valuable player in his first 3 years with us than Hayden has been for Freo. Yes injury has been a handicap for Young but Jacko has been a quicK learner and vary valuable on baller in his first 3 years. He has changed when rucking say 5 games including our Flag win and been a competent team man in most of his first 50 games. For a 21 year old now he has a great future. There is no doubt Young has the goods and Freo have consolidated his future with a 5 year deal. But up till now LJ has played and contributed grandly to a history making premiership already on the biggest stage of all. To suddenly criticise JT snd our team from changing from Young as our first draft pick in 2019 to Luke on one disappointing Final is an overreaction. I reckon in hindsight Luke was probably not quite 100% with his calf. He is and will be a champion player for who ever he plays for. We or JT had no idea he may be prone to playing at home either. And whoever we get in exchange or in draft picks may be better than Young and/ or Jackson to our team. Maybe you should dodo wait till Young plays in the first Dockers Flag before you race off and print a slightly salty summary of the 2019 draft 3 years on. One flag up already has Jacko well on the way to being a Demon legend do he has the score on the board at this early stage. Plenty of years to play out yet snd Jesse did not fit in at Freo let's see if LJ does!
  2. You are not trying seriously or aren't a member or Don't try Gen admin tickets in the afternoon. Qual Final wasnt sSellout do how come you missed out?
  3. Losing to SAME TEAMS SAME GAME PLAN SAME TACTICS SAME PLAYERS AND SAME COACH And SAME ASSISTANT COACHES No change or new ideas from Coaches and MatCh Cttee or changes in personnel in the team despite poor or underwhelming last half of seasons by ANB Spargo Harmes Bowey BBB Jacko and Weed. And we have a 17- 1 RESERVES team and won't try good performers. We are too timid in all our decisions Selection Game Plan. Freo tried AMiss in the ELim Final and won we haven't given JVR a go and others have been ignored even Dunstan and we will lose Bedford Laurie and Chandler if opportunities are not provided go them. Goody has decided we can repeat last year with the same players and has been too loyal with the results stating all and sundry in the face. it's no too late for youth ( limited amount at this time ) but let's take a chance !!! please Goody and MC and FD.
  4. Speed is just not running its taking the game on and moving the ball positively swapping angles and length. Rivers and Salem and Bowey can all do that. As can other defenders if we make a concerted effort with a positive game plan. And don't kick to the forward pocket all the time it's defensive and hard to score from there.
  5. Players are aware of poor games and my instinct tells me he will be back st his best next week. Dropping or threatening is not the way for vital players to be treated. Gawny was not impacting greatly either but one game doesn't mean the same result next week. A tweaking of game plans can do wonders with the ability Goody has to work with.
  6. Agree D36 We have not unearthed ONE player out of the 17 wins of a soon to be champion team who exist to provide young players and back ups for the AFL champs. On the train home I had a full on discussion with a very learned Dees lady fan of 60 plus years and she indicated that neither Laurie ( too slow and no standout skills) Chandler ( no special standout skills) and Bedford pacy ( but his ball handling not reliable) ARE NEVER going to make it and should not be retained in 2023 to pursue their career. While I can see some long term truth in that opinion the fact is that other than Toby being med sub no one has been given a real opportunity in over 20 games to kickstart their career on the Demons forward line. Goody and the MC have been over the top loyal to our 2021 heroes especially ANB and Spargo ( and some will say Kossie but I refute that categorically) with Harmes Rivers BBB and Sparrow all below their stellar role output of 2021. Their was an open chance in Rounds 9 and 10 vs North and WCoast to awaken some of our team with demotion but it was missed hence many of the above have spluttered and choked the rest of the season and we still have no evidence that any of the Casey clan are any good for NEXT WEEK OR 2023 to solve urgent form issues. Dunstan despite a starring almost faultless output and two goal return is also under valued as a back up due to his alleged bloopers with his disposal with no real other demerit for promotion. So 2022 will pass and no stars of the future will be discovered except for the JVR protected species syndrome with every reason not to play AFL probably wisely given and Disco dreadfully unlucky debuting and injuring himself when debuting on QB. Have we been too loyal to our magnificent 2021 heroes? Yes IMO but I get the feeling that their average form and role playing potential is regarded as more reliable and better than a Casey BOG or promising consistent form in a cakewalk canter over a poor team in VFL. Hence the likelihood of any/many/ even ONE forced change ( Tmac not quite ready yet) for next week barring injury or suspension stares us right in our face and dead set in the middle of our footy brain.
  7. 58er replied to Elegt's topic in Melbourne Demons
This post was about Tmac not Mitch Brown !!! Tommy or no Tommy ?
  8. 58er replied to Elegt's topic in Melbourne Demons
That's your opinion. Not everyone else's some more positive others are very positive. Still has next weeks PF for match play with Casey Dees or Our Semi if considered ok if we don't win.
  9. Your logic is just ok but in reality is heartbreaking and annoying for all concerned. It also is more cruel when In our position players at least have the VFL To continue playing for a Flag. While Melky and Hunty are playing their hearts out there are always others that are unlucky with or without injuries which we don't need as casual as your matter of fact type scenario. No player deserves injuries for any reason to miss out on once in lifetime events.
  10. My take is people who have bought tickets will Make every effort to attend.( Unless dippers in MCC area ) Covid has sorted out goers and no goers by NOW and some may feel the urge being a Final to give it a go as things are easing in all areas esp. cities. Personal issues will not be affected any more than normal and Late change of mind is only MCC as others all have tickets, Rain is the only other downer and I believe is not an issue. Betw 75 /82 ??
  11. Me OK Mr KIA tell me what % of neutral supporters attend Finals now compared to 20,30 and 50 years ago? Assuming you are of an older generation who has some history on this matter.
  12. Very few members in AFL of Dees and Swans fans And neutral fans dont go to finals any more. if most of the rest is full then 80,000 or plus is quite possible or even probable.
  13. Depends if you are a member or general admission category. Check MFC website and AFL website, Heraldsun or ring membership Dept of the Club early on the Monday or the digital options after the Semi Finals round round on the weekend. Prelim Tickets won't be announced until the competing Clubs are finalised. If in doubt ring membership at MFC. Or get on Demonland and ask. Goodluvk enjoy your break and safe travels.
  14. Agree Chook. Whenever LJ plays a15 disposal 20 hit out 8 tackles 6 score involvements anda goal with 5 marks he has an impact far greater than some smaller midfielders as he directly assists our mids with these possessions in a better position for scores and goals. He also negates opposition players with his competitive game and general run on ball skills. He is an elite midfielder with a great on ball game who rarely fumbles and is generally in the clear when he releases the ball. It his quality and clean skills that set him apart from many mids running around today.
  15. Great report not sure how this info is or where available Thanks JG. FWIW today I was at a sporting function and almost to a person ( mostly men) all non Demons ( bar Pies and Tigers ) said we were faves for Friday night and indeed were their choice or alternative with Cats for flag. Reckon we are our more our own doubters than anyone else. BTW Tigers were full of "we can win 4 games in a row" and Pies divided some positive and others doubtful on their run continuing. Interestingly Saints fans didn't want to talk footy. When forced to they still think if Dees can do it they will one day as 2023 year equals our 57 year drought. No hope they say it will happen. Some even want a currency exchange in the Hope that will be game changer as in '66 !!!! Good thing overall is Dees are now treated very seriously by all fans these days as a genuine top Premiership chance and are respected in the AFL. Probably doesnt hurt at all that our AFLW and VFL Casey Dees are seriously good teams giving the overall successful Club culture and development a boost.
  16. What is your point? Our AFLW crowds were betw 1200 and 1700 at Casey. VFL are not attended greatly over the board however yesterday (Sat) about 1500 est were there for a great game. Let's see if we can get say 2500/3000 to the Prelim as the footy they turned on was excellent and the atmosphere was good. Plenty of kids in Don jumpers with no's on the back. The mark JVR took was worth the admission price alone. In fact there was no charge just walk in !! No wind was a pleasant reward and about 45/50 mins was most enlightening no country here just estates and shops an road improvements. Casey showed off well on this big day snd criwds allowed out at 3/4 time to hear the Coaches. PS Bring your director chairs if you don't like boundary sitting or all day standing. There is seating for say 150/200 in the stand only!!
  17. Yes Maybe but Reems of paper sh.t have been wasted on Tmac becoming a winger Reemer just as someD/Lers mourned yhe loss of Dean Kent about 3 years ago when we passed him up to the Saints. The fact is that he moved on we much improved our flankers and won a flag ( or 2 maybe) and he was lucky to play more than 25 games ( estimate) for the sad Saints who have too many rejects of B or C grade standard in an AFL comp running around like headless chooks. Dean was another great example when he was on the park.
  18. This fallacy that T Mac plays wing goes back to 2018 when he in pre season trained on the wing and when he made the AFL in about Round5 he started fit snout 5 mins on the wing to warm up and run around before going to CHF. For some reason a number of D/Lers want Tmac on the wing or say he can play a game there. Basically this is a nonsense as he is not conditioned to play that role in AFL even given he has a good tank enough to be a lively CHF who makes things fo much easier for the small forwards to crumb and goal. Tmac also ensures if he doesn't mark tbe ball in the CHF position sometimes as a high half forward or just leading to the wing like BBB does sometimes, his opponent dies not also and keeps the ball in our forward zone. It just always riles me when D/Lers want Tmac "on the wing " as they truly don't understand his proper role in the team. He is no more a winger than you or me. Forget 2018 and his fleeting role but I sure rate him as a very important player in our 2022 team and can't wait for him to be fit for say a Prelim (or Semi Final) to bolster us up forward. So please give up this wing sh.t once and for all it's just fantasy in a real 2022 world. PS As he showed in Round1 going back into defence is his forte though if we need him to. That is real. Go Tmac!
  19. Now I know why Melb has had such a spreadeagled MCC seating membership all season on the upper levels. This is called DOUBLE DIPPING and the MCC should be calling this out if any member is discovered doing this on Match day and penalising members who practice this selfishness. Ultimately leads to when the seats are needed to some members missing out or their families being penalised. Hopefully Covid style ticketing can also be discontinued and the previous systems reintroduced which hopefully are honest and not capable of being defrauded.
  20. We have offered Toby a 2 year deal also I believe. Tommo I think has one year left on his contract so unless things change and he or the Club change their minds he is a 2023 starter I have not been Joel's biggest fan and until last year at the end when he finally realised he was part of a defence team he was a liability. Yes he was injured agsin this year but he is no doubt now up to AFL standard and the fact that we at long last are trying him up forward is a big potential bonus. Maybe one year with an option if either extending for another contract would be wiser but let's go with it snd we could well be rewarded with a latent star in the twilight of his career. Hoping Joel can be injury free of course. PS Remember how Roosy revived Lord Nev to greatness for 5 Years for our defence then this could well be another great decision now for our forward line of the future. Let it play out to the full I say. Go Joel.
  21. Most "new" champion choices often make the team in their second breakout year as Selectors trust the new champs on the block. Players like Sinclair and Saad are one hit wonders generally.
