How typically Melbourne Brodie Grundy
Think Max would have been too inaccurate for that. It was a calculated risk to bringing Grundy in and they swiftly ended the experiment at no real win/loss apart from strengthening a rival. One thing I like about Soccer transfers is the $ value portion can vary if a player hits certain milestones (either team or player based), obviously very difficult to do in AFL with trades, but wonder if we'll ever have some sort of conditional trading in the AFL - EG - Player traded for 2nd round but in the event player makes AA Squad or team wins flag the pick upgraded to first round. I know it's overcomplicating things, just a Monday ponder.

NON-MFC: Round 14
18.2 atm and one of those was rushed. Thought these freak performances were usually reserved for games against us

NON-MFC: Round 14
Just watching Chol, did we even ask the question. Seems to take marks, tackle and score goals everytime I watch a hawthorn game. assume we didn’t show interest cos a certain someone hadn’t been suspended yet?

I'm hoping the last game of the season has some ramifications for them and we can hurt them with a victory.

Christian Petracca’s 2024 Season Ending Injuries
"Thankful for all the love and support I’ve received these past few days. While my season may have come to an end, I’m grateful I still have the opportunity to give it my all again in 2025. In the meantime, Ill be cheering the boys on from the sidelines and making some tasty meals in the kitchen" His Insta post

POSTGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
https://www.afl.com.au/news/1149882/catch-em-if-you-can-is-footys-boldest-weapon-back-in-vogue The round's final game saw one of the tightest tagging jobs of the lot, with Demon Alex Neal-Bullen going straight to Collingwood matchwinner Nick Daicos from the first bounce. Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin declared the match-up pre-game and saw his midfielder go with Daicos until the Magpie was substituted out of the game in the last term with a shin injury. To that point, Daicos and Neal-Bullen had been locked in a battle for 81 minutes, seeing Daicos gather 14 disposals, six uncontested possessions and a goal – down on his average of 32 disposals and 17 uncontested possessions. Neal-Bullen's Demons were the only team of the four to deploy hard-line tags not to be winners in their respective games, with the cost-benefit, such as midfield structure and the defensive running of other midfielders, always needing to be taken into account by clubs who decide on the tight-checking roles. For instance, with the focus on Daicos, teammate Jack Crisp played one of the best midfield games of his season.

COACHES VOTES: Round 13
Working out the coach split relatively easy for those single votes

Deep Midfield Issues
So we started the season with Petracca, Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney, Sparrow as our options. Now a mixture of regression, retirements and injury we're faced with a little short term conundrum. If Trac is out for a little, what would you like to see the FD do? And what do you think they'll realistically do.

2024 Injury List
It basically took him the entire quarter break to get off the field. Was stopping every few steps and looked like he was in pure agony. Was shocked when he came back out.

A new dawn for the Demons - our 2025 squad
Curious a few people wanting to delist Spargo. Wasn't long ago he was the best mark rate from kicks inside 50 in the league. Surely there is a place for that in the team? Unless you want to use him for trade collateral?

PREGAME: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne
Would like to see Tholstrup, Woey and AMW in the team next game. Think it's worth testing Fullarton out against North, he was signed as back up.. but i'm sure he'd be doing Petty/Turner numbers in this team. Would keep JvR forward too. Sestan must be getting closer - Does he have the tank?

Maynard unscathed
Yes but this isn't the wild west anymore. I like all my sporting teams (not just the dees) to compete like beasts but to be hard and fair. Last 2 weeks they've not done very well with that. Focus on the game not a vendetta.

Could have crunched him and still lost by 6 goals; that doesn’t make me feel any better about losing Gus. The retribution I wanted was to smash them on the scoreboard.

Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
thats the way I see it, incident occurred before the new rule and shouldn't be applied retrospectively. I understand there's an inherent risk signing someone who has had prior concussions to a long term contract but at the same time it would be a little unfair to use some of these rumored provisions against us when the rule wasn't announced at the time. If the new rule was in place when AB was negotiating his contract, would the contract have been any different? Who knows? No issue with any new rule applying to any future contracts, but there should definitely be a degree of grandfathering here.

AMW!
Whats his engine like? Too many NQR players in the team atm. Get the runners in.

Harrison Petty
Whilst there is a bit of pile on we’re left with 3 main options 1) keep playing him forward where he may struggle 2) slot him in the backline 3) send him to Casey to build up confidence and fitness. The issue here as you said is it can a long time with feet to get back to your best:

SOLUTIONS NEEDED. 2 JUNE 2024. Memo to Goody
Because the way we got him to the club was a 4 year contract. He believes he can still play, cant force him to retire. I am sure he can still offer something, he's not the only forward to struggle in this team. He was a UFA (cos he was delisted and re-rookie'd) so he was able to pick and chose where to play this year, we wanted to retain him. Obviously signing Hunter to play wing limited some of the rotations on the wing and JJ found himself too low on the pecking order for midfield rotations. Don't think the club really made an error bringing in an actual wingman in Hunter. On paper he would have still been behind Petracca, Clarry, Viney, Brayshaw and Sparrow - so can't blame him for looking at other options. Just a series of bad things has occurred since with the medical retirement of Brayshaw, Clarry issues and a regression (?) of Viney.
