  1. Assume the recently departed players still get paid, a nice little exit bonus for them.
  2. Sort of relevant, if you read the comments the internet are now crying that old mate Dwayne listing Viney at 7

  4. These posts are always interesting looking back, Last year FoxSports had the following for example Melbourne (A-) IN: Grundy, Schache and Hunter OUT: Hunt Jackson Bedford Weideman Geelong (A+) IN: Bowes, Tahun and Ollie Henry. OUT: Cooper Stephens Collingwood (B) IN: Mitchell, McStay, Hill, Frampton OUT: Grundy, Ollie Henry
  5. Well if the technique can't be changed and he remains a little inconsistent then hopefully a fit and firing forward line with the addition of McAdam will reduce the necessity of rotating Petracca there, although he was there "resting" at times etc
  6. The funniest thing about Gawn being inconsistent is the fact he managed that clutch goal in round 23 in 2021 and then followed that up by booting 5.0 in the Preliminary final a few weeks later. Think he used all his goalkicking luck up in that short period.
  7. The article is more about getting JvR and Petty (two relatively inexperienced key forwards) firing early and cohesively more so than our real issues. A lot of our woes in 2023 were caused by the injury crisis, inaccuracy and decision making. Whether we like it or not the game plan is the game plan and I still believe if we have the cattle on the pitch we'd have had a much better end of the season. Hopefully McQualter can address some concerns though re: delivery with some fresh ideas though. These 3 will be the main threats in 2024. JvR - 20 years old kicked 28.9, he will build on this. Fritta kicked 35.25 missing a huge chunk of the season, two seasons prior he kicked 55.22 and 59.24 so he was a little off this year. Petty kicked 12.1 in a injury ravaged season, if his foot is good, he will be good. They should all kick a bag in 2024. The Depth options weren't that wasteful, they'll chip in this year, as will McAdam Melk Booted 20.11 Joel Smith 11.4 in limited game time BBB 11.4 in limited game time We had a decent return from the small forwards, but this is where it gets a bit more inefficient Pickett was 37.30 which was a bit wasteful but he's still kicked 120 in the last 3 season Chandler kicked 24.13 ANB 19.11 Whoever is forward coach, needs to get Petracca sorted as he has kicked 28.34 and 19.31 in his last 2 seasons. He can definitely win a game off his own boot but needs to be more clinical.

My fav thing about Kane is how much energy he put into the Petty discourse this week, to then say he is the 2nd most overhyped player of the trade period etc. Just calma Kane lol

My friend is on a fitness kick at the moment and he's sent me a few messages saying "Ben Brown is in the gym again". Can't comment on the extent of his exercises but BBB seemingly doing the work and will be up and about in 2023. Even if we get ~15 games out of him next year that is a win compared to the 2023 season

Schache as the sub gave more options and tactical flexibility than Grundy as the sub. The more flexible option the better choice than the specialist role IMO. Would love the AFL increase the Sub options to 2 on the bench and you can only make the 1 change.

Hopefully it just means no extension now, not no extension full stop. But if he wants to go end of next season, at this stage you'll potentially have Ugle-Hagan, King, Hogan, McDonald, Cadman out of contract about that time.

Can the mods add a little "He's orright but" to the end of the Thread Name Thanks!
  15. This was posted on another thread but BBB's wife gave him a nice social media montage and said "You are also bloody good at the sportsball on the field and with that knee looking better and ready to get moving I know that season 11 will have more highs for you. You deserve it.'

So if GC get those picks off WB it seems Adelaide will be well stocked to trade up too

Driving home this evening along swan street and went by a group of younger players on foot/route to the B&F with travellers. They’re just like us!

Quite fitting that these proposed mega trades are sponsored by the alcohol industry

Again structurally and mentally weak. Dalot (maybe 2nd string rb) not good enough for first goal. 2nd goal was typical of this season of a runner just getting to the box and scoring. Penalty (miss)/Red card was due to an error Last goal due to Amrabat keeping a player on, this is what happens when you are 3 Left backs down and having to play a CM in the backline. Mistakes a plenty costing United, if this continues they'll be out of all competitions very soon,

I think Rashford at times tries do everything himself. Needs to play the simple option more often. He's having a bit of a dip at the moment, I think he performs much better with Luke Shaw playing - they form a great partnership on the flank, so Luke's injury is having a little flow on effect too. I think another thing United are needing to overcome is ironically something they tried to fix this season. They got rid of De Gea for a goalkeeper who can kick the ball, and as a result teams aren't pressing the keeper as much and are sitting back a little bit more when the GK has possession of the ball. Not conducive for quick transitional play. The worrying things have been the performances this season, the team have regressed - i'm not sure if they're doing what they told, but I saw more patterns/structure from a 9 man LFC team than I have from United this season. There's plenty of time to turn it around BUT it's no longer a BIG 4, there are plenty of teams who will push for Europe, so you cant start a race with your shoelaces tied together.

I wouldn't say Varane or Casemiro have regressed that much. I think a big issue for them is they left Real Madrid at their peak and were surrounded by quality players in every position. Varane has missed about 40 game through injury. Casemiro was great last year but the midfield balance has made him look a bit shoddy this year. Maguire/Pogba were reasonable but judged in respect to their price tags. Lukaku didn't suit the style but still bagged some goals. He's bounced around clubs since so dont think its a United specific problem. Sancho has been a big disapointment. I think a big thing is overpaying for players, much like they did with Antony, so theyre judged as failures. Recruitment for the last decade has been a bit all over the shop, so it is a bit hard to see who has improved. Bruno was balling at Sporting, he'll ball wherever he goes, but it seems for the most the signings are servicable or busts. The best purchases they've made in recent times are signings they've made for the academy. Hopefully these lads kick on Fletcher twins from City Harry Amass from Watford Toby Collyer from Brighton Willy Kambala from Sochaux Isak Hansen-Aaroen from Tromso Hannibal from Monaco Garnacho from Atletico Madrid Dan Gore from Burnley Alvaro Fernandez from Barcelona

Everything looks worse in freeze-frame/slow-mo. Some pundits seem to love phrase such as "last man" "got the ball first" without these being in the rules. But the subjective nature of certain elements doesn't help. There's a twitter account called 'Has the Referee or VAR made a poor decision?' which has 150,000 followers and they tweet things out which are plain wrong at times too. I think as long as referees are consistent then it shouldn't be an issue. Similar to the Casemiro red against southampton last year, bit of a reckless/careless tackle which bobbled off the ball and caught the player high. But going back to the subjective nature, it'll cause never ending "what about X incident" so i guess it is hard at times for consistency. At the end of the day certain instances are a red card but also a bit unlucky for the player, that'll never change.
