this is a very outdated 2012-15 type opinion. we need to be arrogant and maintain high standards, we're the best side in the comp, but if someone is not on form regardless of their age, how they joined the club, their wage/contract etc we have to be prepared to drop them, its good for a players career to go back and be the number 1 mid in the 2s instead of always playing spurts through there if theyre low on confidence or not performing, and i have absolutely no issue with those boys playing less simply if dunstan is playing better and contributing because he's out there to help the team win just like the other 21 blokes
-
but they could get worst, settle on one flag, content with their place in the side, not feeling any pressure from underneath and suddenly you're butler/higgins and out of the side and on the trade table or caddy rotting in the 2s or dan rioli and at HB, thats why we need melky around and others to hold the senior players accountable
-
absolutely spot on here, for so many years (about 12 really) this club has been about building, youth, development yada yada and finally we have a solid 22 who are all going to play together for the next 3-4 years at least with no glaring issues, we don't gift games anymore, if a draftee is good enough they'll be given a chance and they would have earned it, but as jimmy jordon and in a sense fritsch have proven there is nothing wrong with a player playing 3yrs of consistent vfl footy and familiarising themselves with mens footy and the dees game style to give themselves the best chance of succeeding when they do step up, similarly to signing majak and mbrown they're an insurance policy and they're hardened bodies to keep the pressure on at training and provide the senior 22 with healthy competition so they don't get complacent. Dunstan is that too and if he proves his worth in the 2s then i have no issue with him displacing sparrow, jj, harmes brayshaw whoever because he would've earned it and then its up to them to earn it back and not get complacent with a spot in the side

Baker, Hore, Bedford, Hibberd on the senior list and Daw, MBrown, Chandler, DSmith, Turner and Declase on the rookie list are yet to be confirmed by the club one way or another
-
definitely suited to the backline rather than the small forward role essendon r eyeing him off for

2021 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Turner replied to TRIGON's topic in Melbourne Demons
surely based on exposed form JVR > mac andrew in the eyes of most recruiters -
they approved rhys palmer for pick 107 going a couple of years back so i think they'd be ok with this too
-
agree with most people, if he remains unsigned after the trade period and goes through the draft definitely invite him on board in january to take up the last spot on the list for a packet of chips contract purely for depth, can't see the suns picking him up given how full they are
-
naish interests me only if we move on baker as he seems to be able to find the ball more regularly during a match and baker hasn't established himself in 5 years so i think it's time to give someone else a go, i also would have a conversation with james cousins, if no one else will talk to him he could be worth a rookie spot, a solid and younger inside mid to play at casey and if everything goes to sh**t in the seniors hes a mature body to step in + i think he could thrive in a successful side definitely knows how to find the footy even if he has his limitations
-
how does naish compare to baker statistically at afl and vfl level?
-
melk for AMT i can see that ;)
-
chandler doesn't have to be upgraded, new afl rule for this season due to lack of second tier comp and ability to develop players can spend a 4th season as a rookie
-
meant his name is Daniel ahaha not an update on his status hehe love your work tho
-
you've only got one singular 'Jone' as an out and we still have K.Turner on the rookie list otherwise awesome work LH, also can we get a capital D in McDonald for my ocd please ;)
-
implying... 😉

turner and declase joined on 6 month contracts but are category A rookies the same as daw, mbrown, dsmith etc so are OOC the same as all the others. as our list had those two extras added to it in midseason it just means u need to move on an extra two or draft two less to conteract it at the end of the season he was demoted under the one-off rules last year with lists cut by two players but then signed a 2yr deal midseason to re-promote him which consumes one of our 3 compulsory draft picks
-
the new rule means rookies can spend 4yrs on the rookie list so if that was the clubs plan they wouldn'tve had to delist him to do so
-
AFL clubs average 8 list changes every season across the board so 6 is hardly surprising and given our current OOC list i'd suspect 1 or 2 more post trade period as we'll likely want to carry over some picks to invite players to train on over PS imo likely Baker and Bedford as they are the most genereric replaceable players remaining on the list that don't have obvious places in the senior side to fill should injuries affect us that wouldn't be able to be filled by other contracted or younger players.
-
the writing was on the wall when he couldn't even hold down the ruck spot in the vfl but hopefully at 204cm he can find a contract in the nbl at judt 21yo could still make a bball career out of his undoubted athleticism best of luck to him

Lord Nev, an absolute star of this football club and proudly my favourite player of the last 5 years. outstanding loyal servant who got absolutely everything out of himself and put his body on the line week in week out. what a leader and role model. all the best to our No. 39 games record holder

whats said about every mature age player to ever leave a list since 2011 probably the only position they have a stack of is inside mids. i think its wishful thinking that he'd get another go with other inside mids constable, dunstan, brodie, blakely, sier also on the market but best of luck to him none-the-less. i had such high hopes for bradtke its a shame he never kicked on, and nietschke is the unluckiest player i've seen come through the MFC. lockhart extremely stiff but we've found a couple of young jets recently but he can certainly to a job on another list somewhere where he's more likely to get a look in. best of luck to all the lads ❤️

had this thread bookmarked all season and it's taken a couple weeks longer to bump than i anticipated but gee whiz it was a bloody amazing couple weeks. personally i didn't see the ANB resurrection, got that very wrong and JSmith resigning at all let alone as early as he did completely caught me out particularly after the MSD recruitment of cousin Daniel but otherwise i don't think im too far off, guess time will tell. but this is certainly some fun reading ahahaha gg's everyone

6. fritsch 5. petracca 4. brayshaw 3. jackson 2. salem 1. oliver
-
wouldn't be the worst thing if he went undrafted after we nominated him and we can slide him onto the rookie list same same with andy moniz-wakeford. but i gues we do have to take 3 draftees minimum again
