  1. thankyou ham for your insightful and meaningful contribution to this thread also am i the only one who doesn't see mcstay as like a reliable game changing key forward. he's a third banana, always has been always will be. theres a reason the lions went after daniher to compliment hipwood and continue to play fort and mcinerney together. if mcstay could really be game changing as the second tall, they'd play one less tall im sure of it. fritsch/our resting ruck (could get more out of jacko as a forward and around the ground in the air atm too if im being honest) means mcstay doesn't really add anything of value to our side
  2. lobb will probably be on the market again if he's still eager to get to the eastern flank but probably isn't what we're after being in my opinion still a better ruckman than forward. and he's on close to 800k a year still for the next 3. if he returns to the giants for example, does that make hogan (unlikely), himmelberg or riccardi expendable and at that point are they actually worth targetting and the answer to that is probably no. the McKays are both FA's next year so could move for a good draft hall as pre agents as we've seen done before. then you could say maybe Sav would look to leave geelong given although he's been injured he's quite out of favour and they've targetted local rucks in the last 2 drafts so they mustn't see a long term future for him really. but again - is he an upgrade? on our depth if we got a good draft pick for weid, maybe and he'd ask for less coin too but that doesn't improve our best 22. ben king is still OOC ;) if anyone has a spare mil a year lying about... and if buddy stays on does one of mclean or amartey try and move - probably not as sam reid and hickey are getting on and again don't improve our 22 only our depth
  3. the obvious one is freo with lobb likely to look eastwards again and the crab not getting much luck with his body. however i wouldn't be opposed to seeing him at melbourne. he improves our side, simply. he's a better forward than tmac and a different type still to dogga and [censored] brown and as an older player flag hunting he won't ask for buckets of cash. i also back in our culture on connectedness to indigenous australia to teach him a thing or two which will be good for everybody
  4. OUT: Melksham, May, Dunstan, Weideman, Sparrow IN: Harmes, Tomlinson, Salem, TMac, Langdon controversial slightly, but i think bedford earnt his start and with him in harmes can pick up more of the inside minutes as he covers the HF minutes
  5. pretty sure this is wrong. CEY at brisbane OMac at carlton last year gibbs at adelaide all 3 are inactive rookies

if the choice is between Gaff or Amon i think id pick gaff. we're in a window now lets make sure of it. WCE can pay some of his ridiculous wages. the main reason any move to victoria fell through was the hit on brayshaw that he had to like 'repay' the club and the only team who had the funds for him was north so he stayed. but i can definitely see this working for us. the same way chasing isaac smith would have and is currently for geeling
  7. well the good/bad news is Finn Emile-Brennan wasnt mentioned. so either he's an NGA who will slip through past 40 to us, or he's actually not as good as some say
  8. [censored] bro he's just a kid, brutal assessment and ya wonder why they grow up to have mental health issues
  9. Congratulations to Melky who runs out for his 200th AFL game today. Thoroughly deserved, in his prime he was as good a HF connector as there was going around and always knew how to slot a long bomb or two, obviously as we've improved he's fallen away and he does lack in some areas but at his one wood, he's right near the pinnicle across the competition. All the best to him and hopefully we bring home a dub
  10. obviously the country and metro Vs are clear to me and everyone recognises the black swan of WA and the tri colour of SA but the star there on anthony munkara has thrown me, particularly as a member of essendons academy... a NT prospect? and would he be vying for the highest selection of a NT prospect/who is in history? buckley?

could take ANB spot or jordon's in a reshuffle. he will be a premier small forward for the next decade he's only 21 now. imagine he and kozzy together. essendon were the closest to securing him last year but now have 2x davey boys coming through as well as new recruit wanganeen so maybe less interest especially if tippa gets back up and running and the pies and you'd think would ask the question again as well as maybe hawthorn and NM. Honestly even sides like carlton and richmond who have small forwards would be upgrading if they got hill. genuinely not a single vic club he wouldnt improve he wants to come closer to family with 2 young kids
  12. i'd imagine AMW will get the full 3yrs as a cat b given his early signs as we don't appear to have any other zone selections in the next 12 months or so that would be worth displacing him
  13. Turner replied to Turner's topic in Melbourne Demons
i would definitely still take him wouldn't have to give up much and could definitely find a spot in our best 22
  14. Jackson, Sparrow, Pickett OUT Lever, Viney, Bedford IN Lever May Petty Hunt Rivers Bowey Jordon Oliver Langdon Harmes Brown Spargo Fritsch Weid ANB Gawn Petracca Viney Brayshaw Smith Bedford Dunstan Sub: TMac does it for me if the rain is obvious maybe a melk/chandler vest
  15. part of the academy under what links and why is he not anymore?
  16. completely satisfied with the changes, wont hear a murmur of complaints from me
  17. imo chandler should have taken the two years at the crows and run with it, two years on the senior list, in your home state at a weak side with lots of open spots in it's 22 to really kick start yourself vs 2 years as a reserve/backup which if you don't get lucky with injury results in just reserves footy and then who knows, could be a wasted career and you're left thinking what if (or could be a lucky flag) hunt as a FA seems likely, pretty good buying for clubs who value his skillset and in that george hewett bracket of not a top player but a serviceable one that tend to be the types to move for opportunity/security
  18. and is that similar to/the same as what the girls wore in season just gone?
  19. could be determined by who were playing during indigenous rounds?
  20. i think he is, i'd love to see us let rivers lose as a kicking runner more than he is atm where he's playing more lockdown coz i think he's got the potential to do a better job than hunt does and then smith can lock down which suits him too
  21. going on the basis of an 8 player turnover per season average comp wide i'd suggest - purely for the exercise and it will be interesting to reflect if my power rankings change by seasons end Oskar Baker (del.) Mitch Brown (ret.) Michael Hibberd (ret.) Jayden Hunt (RFA) Jake Melksham (ret.) Fraser Rosman (del.) Sam Weideman (trd.)
  22. here's hoping for a brown squared AFL forward line friday night
  23. Hore NM Lockhart GWS CWagner Brisbane i think i read i forget now as recent dees connections
  24. finalised but not announced aside from a few tweets from cleary, twomey and the like
  25. as soon as the carlton game finished i said to dad, and posted in the post game thread smith was in our top 4 or 5 on the ground, generally looked hungry in the tackle and combative in the air and i said tomlinson looked like he was protecting his knee when turning or slowing down just a little bit too i rkn this is one of the biggest myths in footy, why? because they look similar? they both wear long sleeves? hunt repeatedly gets run down (strange situation to find yourself in when you're the quickest bloke on the park supposedly) and doesn't necessarily improve langdons game any more than anyone else does, if anything he's more likely to hinder it by taking kicks off him and being a poorer distributer or simply skipping him altogether with his 60m roosts to contest you're wrong dazzle, no one needs to play on hannan isn't this the entire reason why we are tinkering? obviously if we had our best players available then we wouldn't but we dont therefore we must change something so we still have the best side we can out there and clearly jordon is a stronger candidate than turner, dsmith or HBBaker
