The Charlie Spargo Appreciation Thread
MurDoc516 replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
That tackles and Lever's first intercept mark which turned into a 50 metre settled us down when the tigers were well on top. Don't care if Charlie isn't scoring if he's bringing that fight. Lock him in for next week. -
Spot on, I think having Lever and May as two main stays while also having the influence of Nev and Hibberd is really taking Rivers to the next level. That's 4 former AA's to learn from and Rivers is playing nothing like a teenager should, so selfless and brave. Let's hope all 3 plays 200 games for the Dee's

Charlie, Viney, Rivers and Oliver all [censored] stirring in that scrap was great to see.
-
What a team performance. Trent River diving spoil followed up by winning 1 on 2 vs Reiwoldt and Lynch got me up and about. Loved the scrap at the end as well.

Brown has been a great recruit for Casey
-
One of the key things on re-watch of the Hawks game was how many times Salem receives an absolute hospital handpass/kick but he still sits there fully prepared to get crunched, and yet still disposes of the ball to the next player to start the chain. He makes messy situations look good and he is a hard player which you might not think at first glance.

OUT Petty - good 2nd half after an atrocious 1st M. Brown - Unlucky, tried but didn't influence the game til the last quarter Sparrow - Melksham drops to the sub IN May for Petty Fritsch for M. Brown Weid for Melksham B. Brown unlucky miss.
-
Last half papered over the cracks of a shacky first half if i'm being honest. Clearances a problem all afternoon till the last quarter. Forward connection a problem all afternoon till the last quarter. BUT Who cares 5-0 BABY.
-
Need to tidy up, start consistently winning clearances and a consistent level of pressure
-
Petty is cooked
-
Smith done for day and a few weeks minimum

Good to see Nev love How do people rate the following performances? Ben Brown Weideman Lockhart

Greeny looks like he put on some kegs. We have some super loyal boys considering where we came from and the state of the club in those era's.

I'm not going to get carried away because we will probably lose to Hawthorn next week, but it was clear as day Goodwin wasn't walking as tall as he was when he first came in. He looked tired and frustrated. Felt like he lost his voice in a way. Watching Choco and Yze back him up from the bench or around the huddle is going make Goody walk taller and find his voice.

Kate Roffey Set to Become President of the MFC
MurDoc516 replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Our goals weren't tied to Barlett, I know nothing about Roffey but her appointment doesn't change a whole lot. Premierships and a training base are the objective, she inherits that. Let's see what happens. -
Spargo was brilliant? Sparrow was medical sub and brought the heat when he came on. Only people who are in contention to be dropped are Melksham and Jetta. But both will keep their spot for now. Hibberd for May

Pressure was relentless copy and paste that to all 23 guys that took the field today, fantastic job.
-
Lever was a star Trac loves a big game at the G Spargo and Pickett where incredible with their pressure Langdon and Hunt superb on the break and in one on ones Brayshaw read the game beautifully, nearly his best game since our finals year Finally, Jake Viney. He loves a game against the cats, incredible effort.

Christian Petracca declares his loyalty (2018)
MurDoc516 replied to Demons11's topic in Melbourne Demons
Petracca: "I love the club" "It's pretty special that Jack is a one club player" Demonland: He gone ------ Despite having the superstar image, Trac always seemed to me as a real needs to be loved player. As long as we keep winning, i'm sure he will get a enough love from the club and fans. -
Christian Petracca declares his loyalty (2018)
MurDoc516 replied to Demons11's topic in Melbourne Demons
Trac and Oli will stay, the real elite talent of the comp tend to stay in one spot or atleast close to home. A few exceptions of course but it's not going to be easy for any victorian club not named North to put together a package deal in picks for us to accept and money to turn their heads. I'd be more worried about locking down Jackson then either of those two. -
I thought this thread was going to be a satire response to everyone's calls to drop him for Melksham who has the turning speed of the Evergreen.

This game just re-affirms how big it will be beating Cats and Hawks because both good in spurts but average for vast stretches.
