  1. Thoughts on the balance of the side against the lions? To me it's very telling that Salem goes down and Woewodin is playing half back for the rest of the game. Felt like between Woewodin, Howes, McVee and eventually Oliver we couldn't get the matchups right down back. Then if you look in the forward half, JVR, Brown, Fritsch, Petty and Tholstrup provided little to no pressure on their opponents and were often getting bodied in marking contests. Obviously, injuries are a part of the reason for this issue but having no genuine second ruck to relieve Gawn is forcing us to play a very tall forward line that is nowhere near as mobile as even the Lions tall forwards. I would like to see one of Petty/Brown dropped out the side alongside Salem and Tholstrup and then bringing in Moniz-Wakefield (to play half back) and Pickett/Taj (in the forward line). Thoughts?
  2. Not sure what the thought process was to pick Kolt tonight. He hasn't done anything to look even remotely close to being ready and you fed him to the lions (no pun intended). This was as bad as sending Watts into play the pies on QBD.
  3. 6. McDonald 5. Rivers 4. Gawn 3. Langdon 2. May 1. Lever
  4. For 3 quarters that was the worse we've played in a very very long time. The backmen can hold their heads up high, so can Ed Langdon and Trent Rivers(if you don't include him as part of the backline). Rest of em utterly terrible. Also, how we added Grundy(lol), Hunter, Schache, Billings and McAdam to a premiership list is a big reason why we haven't won another flag. Utter [censored].
  5. holy [censored] ben brown did something, he isn't lifeless lamp pole
  6. Stop whinging about the umpiring. We are second best and lazy.
  7. This is simplistic. We are down in all areas aside from goal accuracy compared to last year and we are getting smoked by a team that is going moderate to good in all areas aside from accuracy. Just so happens there slotting them tonight.
  8. Aside from Taj and Salem, any of these guys wanna show up tonight.
  9. Massive win. ANB was superb. Also, well in T. Mac for getting into Rozee after that head flick during the tackle AND well done to Lever for getting the group together and getting them composed after it.
  10. So many players were atrocious tonight. Talk about a captain's performance from Max, dominated by a guy who couldn't get in our 22 last year. The worst part of the night is yet to come, the dreaded Goodwin press conference.
  11. I tell you hwat, any chance Petracca, Laurie, Howes, Van Rooyen, Schache and Chandler don't fumble the ball?
  12. McVee at 4 is perfect, a decade of the 4 off the half backline.
  13. Not sure why everyone is so keen on Stewie Dew (repeated failure at Suns) and Ratten (perennial mid-table coach) to replace someone who was the matchday coach at the Dee's. Much rather try an untested at senior level Michael Barlow than either of those two. Cam Bruce or Justin Leppitsch is probably ideal though.
  14. Over here in WA Adrian Barich who is the Perth Demons President and good friends with the Curtins has said Curtin to North is basically done as the Eagles have all but confirmed they will take Reid with 1 (they've had no offers for pick 1 from anyone, not even North).
  15. This will be the new buzzword in the match and post-match threads when we are losing. I would say that the club/fans just need to suck it up, we failed. But I'm confident we will be back and victory will be sweet.
  16. RIP Ron, the game has lost it's greatest son.
  17. Brad Miller at the Suns is the obvious choice, been a great forwards coach at GWS before moving to the Suns and I don't think it's the forwards that are the problems at the Suns. I'd be speaking to a Cotchin, Selwood, or Shuey(if he wants to relocate) in a player development role. No idea what Conca actually does. Could we get an ex-coach to replace Yze's role? There are options, Buckley, Cameron, Pyke?
  18. If Yze goes then that at least prompts a coaching change. We need someone who can fill the midfield coaching/assistant coaching role he fills. I think we need to either get a complete unknown and take a risk or do what we did in 2021 and go poach the best assistant in the business. Who those are, I'm not too sure and would love to hear suggestions. Brad Miller was a top forward's coach for GWS and is now at the Suns, Dimma is cutting people left and right, make an offer and bring him in. Trade - Need a ruckman to come in for Grundy. Reckon we stay far away from Chol as he is a terrible pressure based player. Matt Flynn just screams ideal candidate due to being basically free, 26, big body, above average in most metrics. A few preseasons would develop his tank and allow him to take a bulk of the ruck work post Gawn. Draft - Need to go hard for the Suns pick 4. If we can't get the Suns pick 4 we need to find a way to get all our picks inside the top 30 post all the academy, F/S and North comp picks which will be difficult. If we can get Pick 4 as it is now, think we draft McKercher or Duursma depending on who is available at the time (Hawks and North are both keen on Duursma). Then with Pick 5, grab O'Sullivan. Might be a bit overs and people will say get Watson instead but I think we need to seriously get ahead on the replacing Steven May plan and I think he will be a jet. If we have 1 or 2 picks inside the top 30 post that, I think we see if we can snag another Mid-sized defender with pace to replace Hibbo and a winger as Howes can't stay fit long enough to apply any real pressure to Ed and Hunter.
  19. If Petty and Smith are going forward and Tomlinson is out then O'Sullivan can start basically day 1. Best Key Defender in the draft. His Allies teammate McKercher will fall between pick 4 and 5. Quick outside midfield with a tidy left foot, reminds me of Shuey. Again, comparing to who we have, he could easily start.
  20. 9 goals 17 behinds. Sorry Stafford and Williams. Someone needs to go.
  21. I've got more remorse for the incident which I am sure is against the grain on the forum. However, I did feel sick for Brayshaw and have been disgusted about the coverage of the incident. I did ask myself, what am I more angry at, the incident or the lack of care in the aftermath? All Goodwin needs to do is pull out the projector and play some of the atrocious clips of Eddie celebrating the tribunal decision, key football pundits openly weeping for Maynard on live TV without a single mention of Gus's health and the Collingwood chant going around the G while Brayshaw is stretchered off. If that doesn't put our boys in the frame of mind to conquer all in front of us just so we can get another crack at them on Grand Final day then I'm not sure what else we can do.
