Best way to combat the overlap is to retreat from the mark straight away if you have applied the best amount of pressure without creating a spliage. Dont be a bystander in no man's land like we done on countless occasions. If you can't affect the play (if it's not a slow play ahead) once you stand on the mark they are they have opened up countless possibilities going forward.
