2020 Player Reviews: #42 Josh Wagner
Good gag champion.... Seriously, what sort of person puts this comment on a forum? Belittling, a human, (not even to their face) because they've given the best and the current context of an elite football club, has told their services are no longer required, because now, and finally, there are others to take his place. Like, you could have just kept it within your prejudiced household... but your need to display it publicly, is it for humour? Like a [censored] house Dad joke? Or is it to confirm with others you've never met that they agree with you that a) he was useless but really b) I wish we had more skilled players than a particular bloke we recruited with good intentions, but ill call him useless because my club disappoints me and he is an easy one to target?

Adam Treloar
Got some beer snorted out my nose these evening (no not nose beers) Who does this Joker think he is? I want a list of all Demonlanders that would agree we are a 'big Vic club'? Not one [censored] soul.

You've got mail
It has been told, by a friend of a friend of a friend, that Brodie, Tex, (best mate) Jake, Roo and Goody go for beers frequently in Glenelg circa xmas time. As seen with a range of players that have been brought in, connections go back to junior days, friendliness and kindness happen external from the clubs walls, if you've had an eye on someone for a long time. Just take my wife and I...yadda yadda yadda....

The Brodie Smith thread
I don’t know enough about Brodie Smith, but if he is a walk up start to a half back role, then are we assuming either Salem and/or Rivers are likely to have different roles in 2021 further up the ground (ie: delivering into the f50)

To Hell and Back
I love language, and how it influences people and their emotions. So, the marketing department have gone with an often used phrase 'To Hell and Back' for a title of a video, that shows in great depth the back ground workings of a team, who want to connect with supporters that they are doing their best (not really for the supporters, but for themselves). By using this phrase, the marketing team have unwittingly provoked supporters into believing that the intention with this phrase was that the team was in no doubt of getting back in to finals at a minimum this year. If they went with the phrase 'To Hell." would the response from some folk be different? Choosing to be angry, disappointed, (entitled??) because of a mere word, is...well... [censored] hilarious. Look beyond the title and look at the content. Nothing strange as folk they say, nothing strange as folk...

2020 Grand Final
Thought I'd self reference myself and say that Sam Menegola playing on the wing for the Dee's was something I said we should aim to do around 3 years ago. Lo and behold, here he is doing that for the cats (finally)... and playing really bloody well.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Yeah, you kind of are missing something. There is an understanding in the current game that because of the team defensive systems being so strong, that it's not possible to mark it every time. Often it's 3 on one, 3 on 3 ,5 on 3 in the defensive favour. Due to the lack of space and time, it's rare you get a one on one consistently... I presume you have seen that in recent years. So, if this is all true, then bringing the ball to ground in favour of your other forwards is a skill.

What's the evidence he doesn't listen? Seriously.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
zzzzzzz (snore) zzzzzzoooommeeting are we there yet? Ben Brown meets with Melbourne a post script: on a side note, I often talk about whether the organisation fits YOUR culture vs whether you fit the culture of an organisation. I find it rather saddening/hilarious that the 'story' that is put in the media (if it is true re: the treatment of Ben Brown and his family after the death of a child) is that the club are choosing to offload him. It clearly should be he is walking away from a culture that was unsupportive of his context, and from that the relationship was unrepairable.

Hey @Skuit. Don't you love it when you start a 'legit' thread, and people pop up with superfluous posts...

Weideman Takes Strides Forward
Thanks @old dee for reminding me that when people watch the same thing, the interpretation can be markedly different. Perhaps it's a generational thing. Bringing other players into the game.. .not being selfish, they're all attributes of the modern day player.

Weideman Takes Strides Forward
[censored] me man, that is totally disrespectful. Where is the evidence that he coasts? What are his 'non coasting' benchmarks? Have you set personal benchmarks that you know he can reach, but you haven't let him know? Are you in a role within the AFL and you know what he should be hitting and how he trains, and then how that corresponds to his benchmarks? If that is the case, can you please detail them below, so I can assess him with more accuracy please. Thanks in advance.

Weideman Takes Strides Forward
What does delivering look like? This is Tom Lynch over his career... For some reason the screenshot of C.Dixon and T Hawkins wasn't allowed on here... Anyways... maybe I'm being sensitive a bit, but its tough being a forward now isnt it? (with a nod to bruce) 2 goals a game is Coleman territory , and that's when you're team CAN deliver the ball pretty consistency into the forward line. He had done that earlier this season in a shortened version of the game.. certainly gave off a few as well Weid will/is tracking to be a fine player... next year is not make or break for him. postscript: sorry @Pickett2Jackson, i see you were supporting him, now that i re-read it.

The Paddy Dangerfield Thread
Stop shaming the bloke for being himself... If he was in the Red and Blue, you'd be praising him, Many moons ago, the great Ben Harper in 'Burn one down' sang, "if it's causing no harm, it shouldn't bother you".... I'd concur. Yep... the moral police is here on a Monday.

And, do it in an Alan Partridge voice...

Isaac Smith
So, if they get Smith, does that support the view, that they think Baker is expendable? Or that merely comparably to Smith for the next two years, Smith out performs him, whilst Baker improves his consistency?

Game plans, tactics and all that jazz
Brilliant stuff @Axis of Bob Looking at this there are only 2 conclusions that can be made about Goodwin and his coaching philosophy either a) Goodwin is light years ahead of the curve and so inventive that it isn't paying off... yet (think Einstein genius) b) Goodwin is trying to work a system against all the perceived wisdom of what actually works (think Nikola Tesla, 'crazy genius' that gets unrewarded).

Very fair analysis there @Skuit. He [censored] owes 'us'.
