  1. It's beautiful isn't it - how this beloved club allows us to have the full gamut of the human experience, not just year after year, not just round after round annually, not even quarter after quarter, but 6 minute intervals within quarters. I for one wouldn't change that, for the consistent boooooring certainty that you would get with being, I dunno, a WCE, Geelong or Richmond supporter.
  2. How'd you go when you typed it?
  3. Good god man, you've got some intel... :)
  4. I love you folk who have a clear understanding of where we sit with picks and drafting . Thanks for that.
  5. I think Jayden has a range of great qualities, not limited to Can kick a goal Is hard as (I could find a minimum 2 times a game, where if it is his turn to go, he goes hard'. Can run quick in a straight line. But... that's about it. As exciting as those attributes are when he displays them, his decision making AND ability to execute his foot skills let him down and impact on his and our consistency. I loved 'Nippy' when he first broke out, and as someone alluded, the need to 'line break' is different to where it was in 2016 - when every team where trying to get the next Johannisen. I happy to have him as depth - but the fact is, he doesn't have the stamina/tank as Langdon, or presumably - the FD don't rate his attributes enough to play him on a wing. That's why Oskar Baker played there the last few games and not Jayden. If Jayden can get a contract elsewhere - there'd be sadness and it would be him looking out for himself, which is only a good thing.
  6. Perhaps this thread could be renamed "Trent Rivers, Rising Star? Without the Rising Star Nomination".
  7. If only Rusty! 5 weeks without a drink, on the back of covid restrictions, whilst supporting Melbourne.... thought I'd punish myself! In all seriousness, it's one of the best decisions I've made in a long time, and I'm a somewhat healthy 40 something year old.
  8. Amended** When I think of Trent, I think of him, on the field, from a first person lens looking down field at the tall white sticks while a floater off the left from 35 and a never wavering off the right from just in 50 sail through for the next decade. Time and time and time and time again And it brings a warm glow to my soul
  9. Are they playing for Goodwin??
  10. It's only ruined if you harbour expectations Wise.
  11. Maybe he knows the results that the AFL want for the next two rounds, allowing Melbourne to sneak into the finals and he’s seeing a 3 week window??
  12. Subtle change for mine @NeveroddoreveN Until we learn the meaning of ruthless ---->Until we continually act the meaning of ruthless. They all know the meaning of it (whatever that looks like as an individual or as a collective, its about living it when it's hard, tough, and even at times, when you're 6 goals up). I genuinely cannot remember a time in my 4 decades of supporting that a playing group has ever given me a continual vibe of being able to display it weekly (mind you, nor most clubs, aside from Brisvegas, Hawthorn and Geelong). The only player that displayed it weekly, I would state would be Neitz. But of course I was 13-26 back then, and idolised his brutal poise
  13. Mmmm, it does have a vibe, as though those whom are in contract are checked out, and those who are playing for a contract (for the Dee's or elsewhere) may just raise the bar a bit in the energy stakes and play for themselves.
  14. What would a 'true Dee' do that is different from a 'non(?) Dee'? TIA
  15. all your faith has evaporated mate?
  16. Change is bound to happen sometime... is it upheaval?, will it be useful?... 50/50 chance. All removables, all transitory.
  17. Jeez Goodwin has been unlucky The Flying V off the back was lauded as innovative etc then 6, 6,6 He goes and recruits Burgess and now shortened quarters are on the horizon as a mainstay. ....I only have one song in my head
  18. Ive seen Jack and his partner down at Ocean Grove a few times, smashing some burgers and chips at one of the local eateries. (2016-2019) Could be a good fit for Viney.
  19. provide the evidence for this please.
  20. Great stuff @binman - could you bullet point what Hodge said please - if you have time.
  21. You don't think they already know whats going on in the most forensic detail?
  22. Walk me through how the club is amateur. All the clubs that have had difficulties over the years when it comes to scheduling or the like... don't [censored] and moan about it publicly. To infer that the club don't deal with these things responsibly, just because YOU AND I don't get to hear about it means that YOU don't understand how the clubs and the AFL interact in keeping raised issues in house.
  23. Lucifer - I did it quite quick and I suspect there are some inaccuracies..ie: the notion of Geelong flying to Perth, hubbing it up and then up to QLD. Good point re: Adelaide - I merely looked at round by round fixtures to ascertain if they played in the same state. I guess I was looking at it in a compressed fixtures situation. Essentially Melbourne had 14 days of travel from July 6th to September 2nd. Rubbish data in...rubbish results I'll spend a bit more time this afternoon- reconciling some of the data.
  24. I'm sure you're hurting @Billy - and that's ok. But as I'm not a staff member of the MFC - they're not deflecting blame. Actually, nor am I. This is a sense making tool... and it's fine that you see it as an excuse.
