  1. I agree, but I just don't think he is stubborn... I really really dont.. thats not how I see it.
  2. Aside from techniques working on the individuals schemas, and the notion of 'experiential avoidance' (i can explain more if you are interested) - I would hope that overall the psych and coaches are working on ways of creating a safe psychological space (a la @Earl Hood reference earlier about Richmond) for players to take risks and make errors., which actually creates competence under stress and a greater ability to execute difficult actions, time and time and time again, so that then they don't become difficult (eg: grand finals) Too much of the time supporters see players laughing and interpret it as 'they don't care'... It's about stress reduction to get back more quickly to focus on task.
  3. I was thinking about Ryan Bailey the other day (anyone remember him? gold medal winning cyclist). I was wondering what he did now... considering he (on record) said he used to smash KFC after training and competition... imagine follow the leader in that sense!
  4. It seems to me that, in that quote, or the methodology pushed by coaches on the 50's -early 2000's - there is the clear link between the 'healing properties' of ocean air as was the norm in Victorian England spa/beach towns, and the myths that get perpetuated as the accepted norm/practice. Mind you, I live on the beach and there is no doubt anecdotally and scientifically about it from a mental health sense. Actually to go a bit further, it's not merely accessing the beach/bush/natural landscape, it's about your 'connection' to it.
  5. It was debunked around 7-8 years ago.... Also, there was research done on a cohort of US military around 15 years ago, (not that they're gold standard) on stretching AND stretching/warm ups was seen to have zero effect on performance and/or warding off injury.
  6. Out in the wilderness, people die of exposure :)
  7. How has his hand being held? (what does this even mean?)
  8. I often think of Talking Heads "Stop Talking Sense" when I read your posts @Axis of Bob Well researched yet again. (and again and again). Some people cannot help post absolutist, provocative statements, without nuance to them...and perhaps that's ok..but appreciate your response nonetheless.
  9. I wish we could resolve our Wing situation...and perhaps soon. Once upon a time, I did see a rumour... "Which player spreads both butter and his wings, yet remains ocean-bound?"
  10. I hear what you are saying, AND I disagree. Do you know the full context @Better days aheadfor your entitlement to be able to 'heavily criticise' him? He is/was a marketable commodity, and the deal was made at a time when he was tracking beautifully. He presumably has been cruelled by injury. He didn't ask for that, and I am sure he is ALSO disappointed with his output. AND, he and his manager negotiated the best outcome for Tom and his family at the time... this is actually the reason you try to get as much as possible financially... so that when you do get significantly injured, it may be a long time (if ever) that you get back to playing your best. Big coin doesnt mean yer sitting on yer ar$e.
  11. Good chat. And good to also educate people between 'trolling' and merely 'deriding'. Did you seriously spend time developing your cartoon, to have a crack at a bloke, whom no doubt back in 2018 you were frothing over. You. actually. spent. time. doing. that? Good chat indeed...
  12. @Nascent - could give a bit of a synopsis from JS and his clip that those of us that don’t want to trawl through the web could understand
  13. I feel the need to post and let some random know that you’ve ‘ignored’ them fairly hilarious. As though the thought of someone ignoring me (as I’m sure there are plenty) should upset me, particularly as I have never met them. ***it’s also valuable trade content that I’d rather not read, but then again, on second thoughts, trade time is really about 3-5pm on a Thursday for the ? appeal from the delivers of ‘content’. So I revise it, everyones soap operas just help me get though my meaningless life as a Melbourne Supporter
  14. I was speaking to his eldest son. He was telling me the other day that when he was at Richmond, yes his knees were dodgy, and to find a way, to keep him in the loop and connected with the club, they got him to run clinics to kids, which he loved to do, and continued to do so after his playing days in to the Gippsland area... He really felt the need to invest in children. Apparently he would turn up to Punt Road with a carload of kids, giving them milkshakes after his clinic, and it's one of the reasons there are lots of Richmond supporters of a certain generation ☺️
  15. Are you feeling anxious @Hogan2014 You know trade time is about negotiations? Which is time consuming? Which is about the previous fostering of relationships both with 'said' player and incumbents at other clubs to get trades done. Slow motion isn't inactive... we've got great recent history. Saints aint the bench mark... and quite frankly if you're benchmarking trade time, you're focused on the wrong thing.
  16. seriously, that's a pretty out of line comment. staff have all moved on. It's not endemic to the walls of the club (even though the moved from windy hill to tullamarine). don't tar current staff for previous staff's failings.
  17. Thanks for bringing this to my attention @Whispering_Jack. I knew one of his son's rather well through university, so shall make contact. The beauty of this site is the interconnectedness, and at times, helps reconnect during the most important times of life. Cheers.
  18. Damned if you do and don't in a position of mouthpiece eh. Not once under Mahoney's tenure, (with perhaps Langdon last year as an exception) was it telegraphed what players we were bringing in. Matter of fact, not sure how this article/interview came about (mandated monthly fluff piece??), but if he had to give something, he gave that.. Josh has more straight bat's than a willow factory when it comes to conjecture.
  19. It's been debated elsewhere no end on this forum. Perhaps you should write a letter to the club, air your concerns, but I would presume the FD have thought of all these possibilities??
  20. Hi @Hannibal Inc., I'm neither here nor there with Adam Treloar, however you've gone with the highlights package and inherent within that is 0 errors to be viewed. Far more meaningful would be the Statspro App of his games via the AFL website. Man, having watched just a handful of his games this morning, eyeballing him, he goes barely better at 50% retaining the ball on his delivery. If I knew how to convert what was on my screen into a video that was able to be viewed, I'd forward it on to this thread. Ultimately, though the question for all us backseat FD department decision makers is... does his limitations outweigh what he brings? Oh..and are his hamstring shot? Oh and what is his character like? ?
  21. I find it intriguing. I like Hunt, I think he has some great assets, and he floats in and out of games. Now whether that is just the nature of him, or whether it is where the FD position him is up for debate. As a byproduct of this, he flits in and out of the side. So from my end, I am intrigued as to why Hunt would choose to stay, where that seems to be his 'lot'. Unless of course, there is no interest for him elsewhere.
  22. still the hardest man on here, Barry... it's never as clear cut as anyone wants to make it...
  23. whilst it may be accurate... cheap shot.
