  1. methinks we are playing a glorified VFL side - who just happen to be playing in the top tier...
  2. mmmm quite possible now that i draw a few lines together...
  3. pedant that I am @Lucifer's Hero... and 2nd and 3rd round draftees... and the rest of the population.... it's not even a matter of elite sport - though that job is completed in the public eye (if you're in the 22)... I'm changing jobs as we speak - not so much due to mental health problem - but recognising that the current situation is untenable for satisfaction. People values evolve over time - and what he desired as 17yo has no doubt shifted....and as you rightfully said - he's called it now, rather than dragging it out. With respect to some other insensitive comments on here - thank god that inner workings of football clubs are calm, humanistic and compassionate places these days - I can't imagine having to front up to some folk with the 'no loss, harden the eff up' attitude as my HR person and having to work through that...
  4. *not merely as sexy as who we should target player wise. It's easy to draw inferences on players skills sets, acumen and talent - harder to draw a line on coaches, particularly all the assistant ones from afar. I stumbled across Brett Ratten leaving Hawthorn a few minutes ago - and thought to myself - that I've always rated him, as a person and as a coach, can't tell you why, just a sense... wouldn't mind getting him on board again at the Dee's. But, in one - out another - and without character assassinating people/coaches I've never met - has anyone got a version of a champion data write up for our assistant coaches - I hear from some Demonlanders that Troy Chaplin, shouldn't be retained etc etc...
  5. Maybe I’m a romantic - is Bugg still relevant in the FD’s eyes? I personally rate him, and also personally don’t think his reportable offence was anywhere near deliberate as people make out (this isn’t the point to debate)- I can even excuse his goal kicking yips because he was getting himself in to position. AND nor do I think he is a ‘pest’. All that preface for one question - will he get a game again for the dees?
  6. I'm sure this has been asked before - but I am away hiking in Sweden and have just got some wifi with a beer in hand... anyone know how to access (if you can) a replay of the adelaide game? Obviously I can't do it - even as an afl/telstra subscriber. Any advice would be great Cheers
  7. Oh sorry thought my sarcasm was writ large - he does a great job and funnily enough is human - yep - makes errors.. which is easy to pull apart in retrospect . Clearly I need to choose better sardonic emoticons
  8. That’s all well and good @Leoncelli_36 - but the coaches need to know that performances like Lewis won’t be tolerated, he’s been too old and too slow since he came on board - and those two factors alone prove he is not leadership material - nor the fact that his 299 games of experiences went to cut out the biggest likelihood of going down the corridor - hopefully the coaches punish him and end his career on 299 ?
  9. mmm, talk of trading is 'the' reason that people step up. uh huh.
  10. it would have been fine if he went with the conventional drop punt... we wouldn't even be discussing it.
  11. As he's never been know as 'loose lips Josh' - I'd imagine there would be an announcement in 48-72 hours as a best case scenario.
  12. whats your vested interest.... I ask with interest?
  13. It's like Putin's view of the west creeping towards them by slowly gathering countries from the former Eastern Bloc into Nato and the EU... a free kick there, a free kick here... yadda yadda yadda....
  14. If it was a conspiracy, or they were trying to 'get one up and curry favour'... I'd wager GFC wouldn't be inviting said umpire down on press conference day to have a coffee in the open cafe where all the public can see you... tin foil hat time...
  15. I thought you were giving me props for a moment there @timbo ie: "word mofo!" Alas, not to be.
  16. mate they're not that bad... i was in the outer with 2 geelong supporting mates for '187'... and one had the keys to the car for the lift home... those generalisations [censored] me a bit to be frank. plenty of kindly old ducks sit there knitting scarfs too... i was also there for - a draw (yze's specky and miller taking a kidney out of Lonergan) as well as '24' in enrights 300th - where the crown celebrated like they had won PRIOR to the game...weird weird stuff. prediction by a similar amount - 4 goals...either way.
  17. He is saying pragmatically, the more exposure to 'finals' pressure games the better we get at them... and that is only good for the playing list to 'learn' how to play and experience it directly. That's WTF he meant by that.
  18. Gee he talks...it's just words...compete...it's do or die, bloody press conferences, where coaches spout inanities.. see ball get ball etc etc our time is now, no passengers, if we loose, it never really hurt them...
