  1. That switch to Jay Kennedy Harris at half back was terrible. Terrible choice, terrible kick
  2. Today would've been Kent and Bugg's bread and butter. Missing a bit of class up forward, why hasn't anyone tried a scissor kick like snap. always searching for a handball in the forward line.
  3. Just saw the footage on fox footy. Taken out after kicking it like Ziebells hit on Cloke but into the back of the head, massive whiplash, went down like a sack of potatoes. The player got 2 weeks at the tribunal they said.
  4. Something the Saints are doing well is not hitting leads at 30-40m to have a shot and are going long to a contest and crumbing it with manic pressure. Something we have missed so much in the past two weeks obviously. One thing i've noticed the best teams do is restrict all but the most difficult angled 35-50m shots. Even though we should have buried Geelong with accurate kicking, they did not let us have very easy crumbed goals in the 3rd quarter. I think Hawthorn did it a lot in their GF vs Freo and the prelim v Port, just close access to the corridorr and square and let the opponents have set shots from further out and miss if you're going to concede.
  5. If he becomes good enough to get onto the list of a premiership side, then i'd imagine that he'd be more likely drafted by 17 other clubs
  6. Highlight of the match so far was Jane Bunns quarter time weather update
  7. "He'll definitely have a big game this year. It'll force you to keep playing him even though you eventually realise those performances are once in a blue moon." Some EFC analysis. Tracking well.
  8. We should make him bet 10k per game to have a 20-30 possession game, with 2 intercept marks, 6 tackles and 70% disposal efficiency
  9. Josh Kelly is widely considered to be a better player than Salem & Tyson, with a ceiling that could be Chris Judd Level, ie A+. It's the kind of trade you make if you have faith that that kind of player will lift your other team mates up higher than two players who may never reach those heights and are comparably easier to find. It wouldn't be that inaccurate to suggest we made a similar move with Clayton Oliver compared with Essendon's Darcy Parish and Aaron Francis. Have they come out on top? Nah. Not so far. I know we didn't trade one for the other, but we manouvered so much to get Oliver so that Essendon didn't.
  10. I don't think anyone was suggesting it flippantly like a "get anything deal" like the Toumpas trade. It was more a "How do we lure an established A GRADER" topic. He and Tyson were brought in instead of Josh Kelly. It's not absurd to declare that we haven't come out on top in that regard. We of course might.
  11. If it takes 1.5 million to get him for two years even with a league wide 20% salary increase, then you're really getting him for 600k. What would we trade to Gold Coast? How about a mega package to lure him AND Steven May? Something involving a first round pick, a pick swap and a player OR two first round picks and some steak knives/player? Bolstering midfield, forward line and defence in one fell swoop. Anyway. Fantasy trade talk.
  12. Maybe this should be re-visited after two excellent games and now an article about the Bulldogs looking to recruit him on SEN. Maybe this is an opportunity for Melbourne to bolster their midfield and forward line for the following two years at a bargain price. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2017/04/18/suitors-starting-to-emerge-for-gazza/
  13. How I see it is Melksham and Hibberd need to make as much an impact immediately as an 800k a year defender that we could've got instead. And Salem & Tyson need to start making as much a combined impact as Josh Kelly would. They're my measuring sticks for this year and I think that's pretty fair.
  14. Robbo flying the flag for Jordan lewis on 360. Bringing up Cripps and how he's played 2 games and: "something should be done about that" in reference to the MRP
  15. An amputated thumb or a dislodged toe nail are no barrier to employment for our current defence. Sam Frost manages just fine with his prefrontal lobotomy.
  16. To top it off we have a round 15 friday night game against Owen "Playin the kids" Four
  17. Their flags were all boring and against teams that hadn't played the G. This might sound absurd. But I genuinely think we've been robbed of some great grand finals over the years: 2013 = Freo v Geel would've been a belter had Varcoe kicked straight and Geelong didn't choke in the last quarter. 2014 = Sydney v Port if the umpire hadn't of called HTB on Hodges tackle and then not called HTB on Lake when Port were storming home. 2015 = Hawthorn v Nth Melb would have been a great aggressive man on man all victorian grand final but the umpires destroyed the Kangas in the 2nd qtr of their prelim v WCE. I sound so petty. But what the hell. Finally a dull chapter in AFL history is over.
  18. Todd Viney will need to turn his phone off this week. MISSED CALL JAMES F
  19. Well at least the AFL are willing to ban drug cheating teams from finals due to media pressure.
  20. Freo loss and our glaring weaknesses aside, i still hold some hope that our full strength team can go on a winning run and challenge for top 4 with a year 2000'esque type of youthful speedy and aggressive style of game plan where everything clicks. And that Hawthorn will not compete at all and are only up and about today because of their ability to get up for a Geelong game. But with so many games at Skilled stadium, it's an almost certainty that Geelong will be top 4 i agree.
  21. It's probably a good thing that a team contending for the top 4 misses shots and drops a game, rather than a team fighting to get a win though.
  22. Was our defensive pressure as strong as Hawthorns though? Though admittedly a lot of it is perceived pressure with their rivalry. Geelong play a little looser against Hawthorn.
