  1. I would say that Watts playing with Heart was an understatement. There were moments in the 2nd and 3rd where he showed that at his best, he has the disposal and class of a matchwinner and superstar that is above most players in the competition. This coming off his last quarter last year that swung the momentum and won us the game.
  2. Jayden Hunt with the highest match votes on Sunday Footy show, and at HALF BACK on Matt Lloyds week by week All Australian team. Well done Junt!
  3. When we had free kick in defence at the 29m mark we decided to go to a marking contest at the boundary to play for the break, instead of hit up a long leading switch which had an element of risk. The quarter went for 4 more minutes and we conceded two goals as a result of going into our shells.
  4. Why did you read into my comment? I wasn't criticising ANB overall performance at all. Just how bad that 30m backward pass was. Worst play of the year.
  5. How bad was ANB's last quarter 30m backward pass to the Cats goal square when he had Jetta clear to the side of him and it resulted in a goal? Worst play of the year so far. But anyway.
  6. The umpires calling rate is so low that it's worth doing if you're only going to get called once or twice here or there.
  7. Would think that if Harmes/Bugg or Melksham don't come on this year, we could try and trade one of them for Zak Jones and convince him to nominate Melbourne. I think he's coming out of contract, and has a lot of potential as a 22 year old.
  8. Like a prank telling him he's been stood down for stealing stationary/post-it notes and then filming him breaking down in tears as his dreams are crushed perhaps?
  9. Out of curiosity, and this is a bit presumptuous, but if he has two big games, how would this impact match selection? Would it be better to play Wiedemann predominantly in the VFL for one more year or alternate both of them?
  10. The difference is being overstated a bit though. Goodwin is working with a list that is far less error prone than even the one last year, that affords the luxury to play more free-flowing. More errors and the players go back into their shell and don't take risks. I think Roos would be coaching in an extremely similar manner this year. They even tried the 8 man backline running through the centre last year.
  11. Did a wikipedia search on some backmen and their gettability. Rampe from NSW, pass. Talia from Kilmore/EFC, pass. J. McGovern? WA, pass. Alir Alir from Brisbane, pass. Phil Davis from Canberra, pass. Rance, pass. Steven May, Melbourne Grammar. Ahh. A toff in a blazer! Perfect target!
  12. Maybe the only positive is that both players will hopefully come back better than ever and play with a much stronger thirst to pay back their teammates for letting them down, with some greater contributions than they previously wouldve made
  13. One thing that hasn't been talked about, was that incredible chain of handball goals that ended with a Dom Tyson dribble goal around the opponent, where it may have seemed like we were of wobbly composure, but what we were really doing was seeking out the best option at each point along the chain, until dom had a clear shot on goal. I think this style lends credence to the idea of going in small next week and not bringing in Spencer and bombing it long to the contest, which would have been negated by Harry Taylor if they play him back anyway. We can certainly use the midfield more to our advantage this week in running waves of players forward in these handball and short kick connecting chains that bring about shots on goal to Jeffy, Hannan or whoever is at the end of that chain. If Geelong are reliant on 2 strong midfielders, then we can rely on a wave of midfielders overwhelming the cats with rapid ball movement and just getting it into that forward line for our players who have clearly shown a great ability to snap through goals on the run. More running shots from 50 wouldn't go astray either in the windless Etihad stadium. Wiedmann and Watts should be enough to contest. Have Hannan, Garlett, Kent and Petracca crumbing. Rest Gawn in the goal square.
  14. So during last week, the media was calling for independent doctors for concussion assessments because of a club doctors conflict of interest in wanting to keep good players on the field. Now we come to MRP and it's the Carlton doctors who are solely responsible for having two of players outed for maximum lengths of 2+ weeks. Bit fishy if you ask me. How about the AFL has an independent doctor that verifies each reported injury on match day? And then follows any injuries up over the next day or two. This society acts as if Doctors are above and beyond bias and corruption, i'm sure it's probably lower in the medical profession, but it's certainly not zero.
  15. Gerard and Robbo think that a hairline fracture is "Breaking his jaw"
  16. That sounds like Allen Jakovich's careeer, if you meant shooting for goal.
  17. I'm not a MFC player, so over confident arrogance is fine. We've earnt enough arrogance to be confident v Freo. Notice I'm not arrogant about Richmond because I think we'll need him, hence a good reason to not contest and lose him for 3.
  18. No need to contest Hogan decision as he won't be needed against Freo. Not saying these decisions are fair, but perhaps the justification for the decision was that Lewis intended to affect the result by taking out their best player (Like he did to Goldstein) and the subsequent 3 week ban would do the same for MFC. 2 is reasonable though, not 3.
  19. Watts was massive in the last quarter. Became a linebreaker with his marks and disposals on the wing. His class really helped shut down any chance of a Carlton win when he moved up into the midfield. No chance he is dropped. Watts shirked a contest against St Kilda last week on HB too. While it's not ideal, i do think its part and parcel with the habits he's formed over the years and reducing the rate is a far more realistic goal than dropping him so he can eliminate it from his game. As for Mitch Hannan. Even though he made infrequent appearances, i did notice that he really does impact each contest in a big way. His marking attempts are spectacular but were quite valuable in bringing the ball to ground and he hits each contest with a huge amount of speed and aggression. One of those players that will hopefully turn into a Puopolo style player that impacts a match with 2 or 3 freakish plays when needed. I'd give him one more week, but wouldn't mind seeing him moved out for Kent.
  20. It was his first game back having not even played JLT, give the guy a break. The fact that he gets the pill so often enough to make these errors, shows that he's one of our key players who is always in the right spot to feed off the great work Jonesy, Clarry and co are doing. If it's not Tyson putting himself in the right spot time after time through endurance, who on earth would you bring in to replace that? Maybe just a little more patience for a player returning from injury and an interupted pre season.
