  1. He's an upgrade on ANB, Frost or VDB (Or BKen :/ ). But as we have Petracca and Watts, Elliot isnt a pressing need at all. I'd tempt the scorn of Demonland by saying this, but bringing back a J. Howe into the forward line And Defence would fill a far bigger hole immediately.
  2. Would love a footy game where the angle was from the second level southern stand behind the goals or in the pocket :D It would make the game more about running patterns and zones, rather than one on one contests
  3. Furthermore , if Weid or others are a bust after 2-3 years, won't that mean there is a gaping hole during and after that period with massive pressure on a 29 yo Jack Watts and Hogan to have carried the spine up to that point? Definetly need to bring in a mature player in the meantime to share the load and not put the future of Hogan And Watts in the hands of potentials.
  4. Well yeah, but if the window is open for a big tilt at the finals this year and next, wouldnt we need a ready to go established AFL standard 3rd tall for this period? Hogan/Watts/Weid isnt going to be premiership standard for awhile i wouldve thought. Is DL actually patient enough to wait on Weidemann?
  5. With Tippet so prone to injury, i doubt theyd want to let him go unless we offered a big contract. Interestingly the forum consensus was that we needed a fwd/rucklast year and Goodwin may have acknowledged it, but we didnt try and recruit one? Hindsight is 20/20, but even then, so many people had doubts on Spencer lasy year despite his good form v Freo
  6. Early to discuss this I know, but if Weed is 2 years away from holding down a spot, Pedo near retirement and the rest as Potentials, Does the club need to look at an established 3rd tall for 2018? Do we need to look at the Patton/Wright/Lynch trend of a 200cm athletic forward and move Watts to half forward and Hogan at Ff or Chf with a new recruit? Or does the club need to recruit a specialist sharp shooting 3rd tall and persist with Hogan/Watts until Weid is ready? I know they dont grow on trees but injuries, suspensions and personal events have really left the forward line unsettled and im curious as to whether you see the current injury free forward line as the one going forward ? Or too early to tell/ bigger priorities elsewhere ?
  7. Prefer to chase Rampe or Alir Alir from Sydney. Need to spend 500-700 on an elite defender, not stack our team with another average one
  8. I wonder if the ability to use home game membership for this away game as compo for TIO games contributed significantly to the big numbers.
  9. 190cm, yum. Exactly the midfielder we need.
  10. In an alt universe, Lewis didn't take out Cripps and Carlton beat us. We then win the following 3 games to redeem our fanbase after the digraceful Carlton effort. Did he do it as third man up around the ground, or some lone centre bounces ? Said this yesterday, but if our game plan is to blow teams out of the water, then we should have a defender to alternate in the ruck so that Watts stays forward. Or if Pedo and Hogan are forward, have Watts and Lewis in the midfield together but alternating ruck stoppages, similar to third man up, but not. So to clarify like, it would be 60or70% Pedo and 40or30% Watts/Lewis or some Frostiness.
  11. Luke Darcy, Tim Watson and McClure all advocating a mid-season draft after what has happened to us. "There'd be a couple of ruckmen running around in the wafl or sanfl that could help out the Dees" etc. Shouldn't be too far away when more and more media figures join the chorus.
  12. Pendlebury has fallen out of favour with Bucks it seems. How about we make a move on luring Pendlebury away from the Pies. it would be a massive coup and the most amazing '[censored] you' to the Filth. Oct 9, 2015 - COLLINGWOOD captain Scott Pendlebury will be a Magpie for life after signing a four-year contract extension. Oct 16, 2016 - COLLINGWOOD captain Scott Pendlebury says AFL contracts are now meaningless as players demand trade moves in growing numbers Please be gentle with me.
  13. Sneaky Woosha with the "Hit a Wall" comments
  14. Essendons home ground is etihad stadium isn't it?
  15. Parish pushed aside like a school boy. Oliver > Parish&Francis
  16. Default mode is wanting Collingwood to lose and Buckley to be under pressure, but on the other hand it would be far better to have Essendon & Collingwood on 2/3
  17. I'm not even convinced he is doing it intentionally. One of the calls last night was because he tried to pick it up with one hand in the wet weather and it just scooped up into the air because of how slippery it was. Usually he'd scoop it up and get a hand onto it and release in one action.
  18. If only we could do a 3rd man up two punch of Watts and Lewis when Pedo rests. Change the 3rd man up rule back!
  19. Asked this in the essendon changes thread, but what about Jordan lewis doing some ruck alternating with his 3rd man up experience? Surely if we're trying to blast teams out of the water, then it's our defenders (Frost, Omac) who can be switched around and into the ruck and our forward line given stability.
  20. If we're trying to blast teams away, but are not converting our chances because of a structural disturbance, then it should be Defenders alternating in the ruck so that Hogan/Watts is always maintained. If Pederson is the main ruck, then Frost should be the alt. But if Sam Frost or Mitch King is the main ruck, then it should be Jordan Lewis that comes in and alternates with him, he has 3rd man up experience. Someone proposed that we just go in with midfielders instead, well Lewis probably fits the bill there. Starting to become a bit sadistic now after the opening five rounds and want to see Lewis or even Hogan put in some hard bruising yards.
  21. A ruckman diving into a contest like a midfielder when he's realistically our sole ruckmen after losing Gawn, is just careless. He can play with some element of self preservation and still make just as much an impact, just don't dive down into an oncoming player, simple. I don't think it was a matter of bad luck that he got injured, he put his shoulder down into the impact of that contest.
  22. Well, as long as Hibberd plays like an 800k a year player for the remainder of his career
  23. Look, I agree. But to be harsh on him, he put himself in that position by diving at the ball with that hip and shoulder to the Tiger player. If that is how he initially got injured. He's a ruckman, he does not need to dive in. We are an aggressive team, but that is just reckless given his limitations. I stand corrected if he got injured later on in the game after he came back on, but that is what I saw.
