  1. How would Lewis go as a floating half forward or half back in his last year or at least playing certain sections of the game over the next 2 seasons in there? He has a decent leap and set of hands on him If I recall correctly? Seems to plays taller than his 186cm suggests and can crash through packs in unpredictable ways. Would be good to see him running up the ground at crucial moments to influence the contest
  2. Some fans want to trade #10 and a VFL player (Litherland, Langford, Shoenmakers) for O'Meara too, as if their VFL players poop smells good because they're Hawthorn.
  3. We haven't heard anything about Lewis coaching aspirations, so I wonder if that would form part of the deal. Would also help us next year if we're aiming to lure a player on a big deal. The Eagles will do that with Mitchell, so get in on it too.
  4. Can't even imagine any friction within that club? Unless Ziebell has been drinking his own bath water, believing the commentary hype, and thinks he's the second coming. They really don't have much of a core group coming through to warrant a playing group friction?
  5. What's the rationale there? Do they feel they need a bigger bodied player ready to kick goals and crash packs within their young impotent forward line?
  6. How the [censored] do you end up following players wives? I need to up my game.
  7. I'd amend that statement though: "Deledio had the ability to elevate a good side in to a very good one in the regular season, two years ago" Lewis adds premiership and finals experience that Deledio does not, which might be why we are very excitedly going after him. Treloar wrote an article about how to play on the best mids at the end of August. I also thought that needed to be amended like so: "how to play on the best mids, in the regular season" ie he doesn't know how to do it in September, yet.
  8. I'm of the opinion that Deledio and Lewis are around the same value, though the idiots at Richmond think he's worth a 2nd round pick at the least. It does bring up an interesting quandary though regardless. Deledio vs Lewis ? Similar age, one coming off a 2nd in the b&f, the other coming off an 11 game season but 2 years prior, being a player the team couldn't win a game without. If I was Richmond i'd trade Deledio for Lewis, so I think we are getting a better deal if Lewis comes to us for a 3rd round pick. Has more momentum changing tenacity than 'slick' Deledio.
  9. There is a clear and present danger that Hawthorn are flipping this deal to get overs, now that its becoming more likely. I hope we're not too desperate.
  10. Yeah. This season was utterly bizarre, considering round 23 decided where 1-7 would finish
  11. There's another rumour floating around that Bob Murphy has been called in to AFL house to put forward his case for receiving Jobe Watsons Brownlow medal
  12. Oh. Someone mentioned offering JL the Melbourne captaincy to seal the deal but I thought that is unreasonable, maybe only if it was a mega-deal for Fyfe would you consider using it as bait. (Stk should offer fyfe captaincy next year) Re coaching, I have a theory that maybe JL is in an identical predicament to Mitchell (2 years left) but wasn't offered the similar coaching opportunities after his career from Clarko, on top of all the other issues.
  13. We must be offering him an assistant coaching role in the future too to seal the deal? I think captaincy is a bit of a stretch. He may have to give up that dream. He could mentor a future captain.
  14. It would depend on whether a coaching appointment in the future was offered too. Maybe that's why Lewis is [censored] off. Not only told he'll be traded, but not offered the captaincy or coaching opportunity. I think Lewis & Mitchell both have two years left and could be seen as in an identical predicament. So we haven't heard anything about Clarko offering Lewis future coaching opportunity at another club or back at Hawthorn, like we heard with Mitchell. Mitchell has the body type to easily play two more years imo, So age difference 30-34 is not as significant as it may appear.
  15. Vince will be up forward next year won't he and will temporarily float into the midfield to provide some grunt?
  16. Why would Lewis be meeting Melbourne without any discussion with Hawthorns list managers though? He's wanting to be sold on coming again? Not very familiar with trade talk formalities, what would they be negotiating?
  17. I would agree on this response. Collectively to acquire Prestia, Hibberd & Lewis with those 3 picks, it's a solid injection of quality and starting 22 players. In isolation, none of these trades are particularly exceptional on their own, and possibly overs. But taken as a whole, it's a big upgrade and immediately assigns Bugg, Kennedy, Michie etc, aka our bottom 3 into depth and working much harder to improve and get a spot.
  18. Having a public discussion about users is just bullying and bitchy. Should be kept to PM's surely, just floods the place with nonsense.
  19. Oh ok, my mistake. Someone mentioned a 3rd round pick was offered for Lewis and i'd hope we'd have a medical certainty that he had more than one year.
  20. We would surely be asking for a medical to ensure he's a two year player though? 3rd round for 1 year is too high.
  21. Lewis would have earnt his salary if he helped stem the flow of Gibbs & Cripps in round 22 and we would have gone into round 23 with a finals hope and played much differently.
