  1. And now that I think about it, with Archer gone there too goes inspiration, leadership and obvious skill. Defence shall suck next year.
  2. CHF is the go. I've been thinking though - with the addition of Meesen we're going to have 4 ruckmen: White Jamar Johnson Meesen There's no point having them if we're not going to play them, so I'm thinking maybe one of Johnson or White to no longer be a 'ruckman' but to play this CHF role or something. I can't see the point in re-signing Jamar AND getting Meesen if we're also rucking White.
  3. A summary of Monday's progressions for the MFC: MELBOURNE General manager recruiting and list manager Craig Cameron: On Travis Johnstone: "Nothing has happened with Travis today. There hasn't been a lot [of interest in him]. There hasn't been many offers. It's a strange week, trade week. We don't use our players as bait but Travis' name is out there." On Brad Miller: "There's been a little bit of interest from Sydney. We'd like to keep Brad, so that's where we're at. It would have to be [a good offer]. On Crows ruckman John Meesen: "I think by the end of the week [a trade] should happen. At this stage, we haven't gone too far with it. It will probably be draft picks, but it's only Monday and by the time we get to Friday, or even by Wednesday, we'll have a better idea. I wouldn't have thought [we would trade] a second round [pick]." Adelaide says: On John Meesen: "Once again, we want [Melbourne's] pick 21 so we're just negotiating that. I want their second round pick and they've offered their third." From http://www.afl.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=2...mp;newsId=52298 Like we're gonna give them pick 21...
  4. How come? Add Nathan Thompson to their '07 side and they couldn't possibly slide that far, could they?
  5. Geelong Hawthorn West Coast Port Adelaide Fremantle Brisbane Collingwood Kangaroos Melbourne St Kilda Adelaide Sydney Richmond Carlton Essendon Bulldogs
  6. I believe that Heath Hocking at Essendon has also been elevated off the rookie list - same time as Ramanauskas
  7. Quite right you are. However we have invested 5 or so years in Miller, maybe Bailey will get something out of him too?
  8. You're right. I think everyone is expecting too much of them at the moment. And you make a good point about McVeigh. In 4 years time some of these players will be star athletes regardless of their 18-year old beep test results
  9. They are the winners here - getting Trapper and a KPP for Pick 11, and bettering their pick 43 with 36.
  10. I have to agree. We don't need to try anything too radical. We're the oldest club, why not honour our history on our clash jumper?
  11. Ah, well I like it. Although I guess anything would be better than our current clash strip.
  12. The way it looks there, it's not very different in colour to our normal jumper, so how could it be a clash jumper? Invert the colours?
  13. Because he still had a year to go on his contract when he retired last year so technically he was still on the Brisbane list for this year.
  14. I don't get it. He tells us our facilites aren't good enough, then goes to Carlton where they're almost as bad. I reckon he could have thought of a better excuse than to publicly shame us like he did.
  15. Compare what Harris said to what came out of the Essendon camp today: http://essendonfc.com.au/news/news.asp?nid=5402 In particular: "We won’t just put a line through this and walk away, we will sit close and see what happens," Mr Auld said. "There is a lot to happen between now and the end of trade week and if that means Collingwood and Carlton can’t do a deal we will just have to see what happens then." Compared with: "...but we do have this comparative disadvantage" "...it is very disappointing that Chris will be playing elsewhere next year" We could have been a bit more positive like Essendon. Sure, we have a 0.00000001% chance now, but if Dylan Howard is to be believed, then WC was a little bit interested at our deal, and if they can't deal with Coll or Carl, then maybe.
  16. Yes. Overall not a good day in the history of the MFC
  17. This is good. Reminds me of 03 with 3 and 5 for Syliva and McLean
  18. Was sent an email today from the club about the 'Advisory Panel' - in it they said that the club had a new logo for next year: I for one am not overwhelmed by it. I prefer the current logo. Thoughts?
  19. Wow You made so many great points. You pretty much some up my feelings too. I just hope the football community turns on him to make him feel like he made the wrong decision
  20. I agree. With no sour grapes at all, I firmly believe that he will lose massive amounts of respect in the football community. He has clearly attacked our facilities and funds, and shown that he is driven by nothing other than money. What is worse is that he chose to rule us out before ruling out Carlton. I can't see his logic at all - unless he wanted to be seen as a money-seeking [censored]. Why rule us out before Carlton? I can think of nothing better than for Melbourne to make a resurgance up the ladder next year, and for Judd to end up with his first ever wooden spoon.
  21. Yep, Dylan Howard was the reporter. You make a good point.
