Bruce, White, Yze, Miller, Carrol, Robertson

We have to have some years down to make up for the 3 consecutive years of bottom half of the top 8 (04-06). By no means should we aim for a crap year, but at least if it happens we will have some good young players. By the way, between 2000 and 2006, did you know that we were the best performed club in terms of finals appearances (only didn't make it in 01 and 03). That's 5 out of 7 years. This was rivalled only by Essendon. -
Anyone else remember the semi final against Freo in 06, where Miller took 14 or so marks at CHF and gave us a target to kick to?

Green's a friggin forward... we might have been a little more respectable yesterday (i.e. 80 points not 100) if we'd damn well kicked straight. Green can bloody well kick a goal from 50 - he's useless on the wing. -
Personally, I say he should have been played at CHF his whole career. Unfortunately, one good game against Barry Hall has meant a career of switching ends each week, to the point where he hasn't settled down in either. One thing that yesterday proved though is that he is not a defender. I feel as though we have wasted something in Miller.

Not so. I thought Cale Morton showed enough to promise a good future, and PJ asserted his position in the team. Other than that though...

That's exactly right. You can't expect first and second year players to develop if they only play AFL for one week at a time. Meanwhile, Jeff White should be so ashamed of his pathetic performance yesterday, he should nominate to play with Sandy until he improves. That was the worst I've ever seen a so-called 'Number 1' ruckman play yesterday. Newton was the biggest disappointment for me: he was incredibly slow, applied little to no defensive pressure and was too concerned about taking a speccie than kicking a goal. What's wrong with Frawley? If he's fit, maybe he should come in for Carroll, who looked hopeless yesterday. I know it's not his fault the ball was delivered so well, but he was beaten almost every time in one-on-ones. Next week Frawley will get some young Bulldog forward (some guy called Hill??) which could be a good opportunity for him to play as a key position backman.

Jones, McLean, Moloney to become the no. 1 midfield in the comp

Garland is a 200 game player? I doubt that. You're right though, we'll be much better in 2010 or so Miller has to be given a go this year as his last chance at MFC before he loses CHF to Newton and CHB to Frawley/Rivers

Interesting to note that we haven't missed the finals in an even year since 1996.... Having said that I say 5-8 in 08.

From the video of Grimes I see he wears No. 16 with the Big V...

SEN says he's athletic, could be key position

If the Advisory Panel had any real say in what goes on at the MFC, we would have been given a selection of jumpers and been allowed to vote for the best one. I don't really like this one, it's too much like the Bulldogs' colours, but I'll live with it.

I heard on 3AW this morning that he had been sighted in New York

3 MFC members in my family - two of them got their cards in the mail, but mine came first and I just got the letter asking to renew online. Did anyone else not get a card?

Is there a reason why we're not playing the ANZAC game with Sydney this year? Did we not request it, or did the AFL snub us in favour of Freo vs Geelong?
-
Good, but doesn't it use a now out of date logo?
-
I like it - better than our one

That's right. In 2005 we lost 7 in a row, of which only 2 were at the MCG. We should be grateful that we play at the G at least every third week.

Comment from MFC from afl.com.au: CEO Steve Harris: “We're quite happy with the competitive aspects of the 2008 fixture. Commercially, it has some pluses, but quite a few minuses. “We are pleased to have the AFL recognise our arguments and deliver 10 home games at the MCG - the most since 2003 - and no home games at Telstra Dome. And for the first time in a long time, we don't have anything less than six-day breaks. "It is again disappointing that Melbourne and Richmond - co-tenants of the MCG and in 2008 celebrating 150th and 100th birthday milestones respectively - have their first match at the Telstra Dome, and don't meet at the MCG until the last day of the season. It is also disappointing not to have a home game against Essendon, as we feel all Victorian clubs need to develop strong and regular rivalry matches to maximise appeal for fans and broadcasters alike. “Our Queen's Birthday clash with Collingwood will have a special attraction in our 150th year, and will be a real highlight, but every true Melbourne supporter should also embrace the clashes against our other local rivals, especially Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn and Geelong.”

Lucky Essendon gets 18 Vic matches and only 4 interstate

What the hell? We play Hawthorn round 1 and round 9??? And we play Port once all year, in round 21?!? Crazy. Like the second half though.
-
What would make me the angriest is if this Richmond-Melbourne match had been scheduled at Telstra Dome in order to allow Collingwood to have another MCG home match. I hate it when smaller clubs are pushed around by larger ones. And I think it would be good for us to have less free to air matches. It would get some supporters turning up to the matches instead of watching them at home.

The full fixture will be released at 10.40am tomorrow on afl.com.au

I guess now with the new logo this one is being phased out? So maybe not this strip. Royal blue epitomises what is crap about this club. I think we need to move forward i.e. get a new design altogether not go back to a time long gone now.
