I think Watts will suffer the same fate, probably just dodging the Thursday night media storm, and will slip it in tomorrow night when final teams are announced, and the media are more focused on the actual footy.

Agree with comments about the wind. The way GWS just neutralised the game in the second quarter completely killed the game. We had no answers whatsoever, exactly the same as the week before.

Being out of touch is one thing, but you can't defend some of the defensive efforts, especially late in the second quarter. For those two reasons, he needs to go back to the VFL and get the necessary touch and intensity.

The playing group just look cooked to me. I can't see us turning it around from here.

That was awful, just awful. The second quarter was the most boring, predictable quarter of footy ever. No fight whatsoever. Jack Watts' form since returning from injury has been nothing short of embarrassing.

There are still some average sides in top 4, let alone top 8. Geelong' depth is terrible. Cam Guthrie's little brother looks like he is about 8 years old.

Patton is exactly the sort of player who has had their way with us this year, so it's definitely interesting.

If we are a decent side, I think we win this against an out of sorts GWS. Our key players have returned and had a few weeks under their belt, except for Jones, but he strikes me as the sort of guy who will just slot back in. Time to put up or shut up.

I couldn't agree any more. Frost has been good, and Oscar is improving, but we are definitely short a bigger bodied key defender. I know May is off the table, but he would have been ideal. He isn't tall, but he is strong as an ox. And I don't think Lever is the player we need.

Hats off to him. Throwing up at quarter time, cramping all over the shop after the game, and he was absolutely massive yet again. He has been a 19 year old right up until this week. I don't think there would have been too many better seasons put together by 19 year olds.

I agree those sentences seem to completely ignore the very good season Jones was having up until his injury. For what it's worth, he was playing much better footy than Viney up until that point, and Viney has since lifted with some huge performances. Viney's start to the season wasn't up to his previous, and subsequent, lofty standards, let's not forget that.

The more I think about it, I don't mind it. GWS are 1 game ahead of us, and not much percentage, and we play them in that time. Even Geelong play 3 of the top 5 or 6 in the run home, so top 4 is massively open, Basically, if we win 4 of our 5, which is very doable, we finish top 4. GWS is the only current top 8 side we play.

Fantastic player. His blazing away is his weakness, but as mentioned in the OP, it is the difference between being a very very good player, and an absolute elite player.

I am officially on the Hannan bandwagon. Love his ability to throw it on the boot quickly around goal. And I agree ANB has been great the last few weeks. I also think JKH has looked at home since coming back, although a little quieter today. If someone said Jones and Vince were available next week, i'd find it hard to find 2 names to drop from that side.

Every single game we play for the rest of this year will be bigger than any other we have played since 2006.
