Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
That's what i heard also, and that sounds reasonable to me. Adelaide are obviously training to paint it as a financial move to save their own skin, so don't be surprised if they throw some numbers out there.

100%. That interview bought a big smile to my face. And to top it off, in the face of Burton's comments, he throws the draft chestnut in there.

End of year delistings
Interesting comment about not questioning his effort in the second half of the season, which obviously raises the question about the first half of the season. He was not a good enough footballer to get by on any less than 100% commitment. Anyway, good luck for the future BK.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
All things being equal, Lever for Petracca would be roughly about right. But, unfortunately for Adelaide, when a player is out of contract and wants out, and if he does happen to nominate us as the club he wants to go to, then you are always going to get the rough end of it. Happens every single year, and what other option do they have than to accept? Let him walk for nothing into the draft? We will give them some decent picks, or a decent pick and an ok player, but it would be foolish to even think about offering up any of our best young talent.

2018 - Minimum 16 wins EXPECTED
We ended the season only 3 and a half games off the top of the ladder this season. Let that sink in. The club should be absolutely livid with how they let this season slip away. And I'm not just talking about making finals. We blew a golden opportunity to go deep in finals and really compete.

That has to be a troll. Petracca is only just getting started, and is already a better player than Sylvia ever was.

Umpiring of MFC games very questionable
Fair call, harsh on my part, apologies. But back on topic, I think there are just so many grey areas, and so many 50-50's, that it is easy to think you are always getting the rough end of it, but in reality, it is really just a case of a messy set of rules and umpires not being able to consistently apply those rules. There is clearly nothing sinister going on. I bet if you went and asked baked on supporters of the other 17 clubs, there would be some who would share the same view as you, and obviously, we can't all be getting the rough end of it.

Umpiring of MFC games very questionable
There are bad decisions and bad non-decisions flying around left, right and centre, but if you think there is anything more sinister going on than a lot of grey area rules being inconsistently applied, you are a screw loose. We copped the rough end of it in the 3rd quarter, no doubt, and probably also in other games as well, but if you could take a step back, you would probably see we get a good run every now and then as well, Queens Birthday comes to mind. And that would explain why it is roughly equal in the frees for and against over the course of the season.

Glaring weakness in defence
It's actually ridiculous how much you have to walk on egg shells on DL when it comes to OMac.

Glaring weakness in defence
I couldn't agree any more. Frost has been good, and Oscar is improving, but we are definitely short a bigger bodied key defender. I know May is off the table, but he would have been ideal. He isn't tall, but he is strong as an ox. And I don't think Lever is the player we need.

Clarence Oliver
Hats off to him. Throwing up at quarter time, cramping all over the shop after the game, and he was absolutely massive yet again. He has been a 19 year old right up until this week. I don't think there would have been too many better seasons put together by 19 year olds.

Dynamic Pricing
Wow, that is pathetic from North and St Kilda.

But, but...he didn't even make Rohan Connolly's top 10 recruits of the year? No wonder he got the flick.

Clarence Oliver
His consistency has been remarkable for a 19 year old. His quietest games have still been 25+ touch games, with plenty of tackles, clearances etc.

Zak Jones
Pick 14 for Mitchell is an absolute steal though. Luckily they paid overs for a crocked O'Meara to somewhat balance it out.

What a pickup. Having a beautiful left foot kick coming off half back has been extremely important.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
The poster was talking about last season when we were into Hibberd and Hurley big time, but as you said, he ended up re-signing. Pity it didn't come off because Hurley is an excellent player.

Ben Brown isn't the only key forward to have his way with us this year.

Absolutely.

Like most, would love some more kicks on the outside, as he is a good kick. The JLT game against West Coast was his most rounded game in that regard. I think he would need to add a goal a game and get his handball to kick ratio closer to 50/50 to be a Brownlow chance. But what a player.

Great game. And I don't know why I was surprised, but having a left footer off half back was clearly useful. Numerous times a right footer would have struggled to execute. Now stay injury free.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
I wouldn't be getting too smug as a Dees fan, when our number 3 pick in that very same draft is in an eerily similar position to McCartin at the moment. I hope for both's sake they can get past the concussion issues, and make it or not based purely on their footy ability.

Clarence Oliver
It will be interesting to see how he goes when he cops a tag, which seems inevitable. Given his best work is done in close and with such quick hands, I'm not sure they would be able to stop him.

Clarence Oliver
He is a gun. The rest of the footy world will wake up to it very soon. I still think his first year was underrated, he was huge in the GWS and Hawthorn wins straight off the top of my head. Even does little amazing things in games that commentators seem to miss. One example on Thursday night where, in a pack, he sort of flicked the ball from one hand to the other, and then handballed it to a free player. Hard to explain, but it was impressive, and I was like "am I the only one seeing this?"
