His handling of the situation has been abysmal. Lie after lie. Little pretentious [censored].

AFL wide: Zac Smith will be every bit as good as Dean Cox and the Cotchin/Martin combo could be the best midfield 1 2 within 3 or 4 years. Melbourne: Jack Watts has it all and I'm still confident Liam Jurrah could be a 70 goal a year player

Aren't they turning a blind eye to us aswell. They have flat out denied tanking exists, when it clearly does. And anyway, I think there is a fair bit of difference to a team managing their list heading into finals and a team implementing obvious tactics designed to lose a match.
-
I think he will definitely finish top 5, may finish top 3 but probably wont win. In saying that though, I would love it if he did win in front of one the older, front running, players like Moloney.

The Captain .....does he really get it ??
Forest Demon replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
I understand what you mean about a conflict of interest, but it can be handled, and is done so by others in the media with positions within football clubs. But how does saying the effort was acceptable in an 80 point drumming help confidence. I would hope they would be being told it was 3 quarters of pure tripe, and they are capable of much much more. I think Green and Stynes are trying to sound positive to supporters and the media but I am having none of it. And obviously Lyon isn't either. -
I am a strong believer in the well known Malcolm Blight theory of looking at games in which you get pumped, taking any players who are consistently terrible in those losses, and sending them on their way. And using this theory, Jack Watts and a couple of others could be the only ones at the club next year. I never admitted it, but at times last year in my head I was beginning to wonder whether Watts would ever be more than a decent player, but he is shaping as a serious star of our club and potential future captain. Hold your head high when you turn up to training on Monday Jack, you are one of the only ones who has the right to.

I disagree...that would of just papered over the cracks of what was another [censored] weak performance. 1 quarter of effort at the required level, and 3 [censored] poor quarters, of which Carlton only needed to put us to the sword for 1. Again, the experienced crew were the ones who went missing when required.
-
I agree, I propose a class action against Craig Cameron.
-
Come on...we had 1 good quarter of effort and unfortunately conceded 2 late goals. We folded in the 2nd quarter and they coasted in 1st gear from there on in.
-
I really feel for him, was just finding his way at the top level and did really well to keep with his opponent and make a great spoil. Unfortunately, he will most likely find it really tough to get back going at the required level within the next 2 years at least. I really wish him the best.

Luke Power is probably being a bit generous going of today's performance

As I stated earlier, I support this club regardless, but I no longer support this particular playing group. There are obviously exceptions, such as Watts, Tapscott, McKenzie, Trengove etc, but it is honestly laughable that our 'leaders' are consistently shown the way by 20 year olds when the going gets tough.
-
That's it. I will support this club with everything I have for the rest of life. But players come and go from clubs, and I will refuse to support this particular group of players again. Not all of them, but as a whole, and especially those in leadership positions, I have lost all respect for. Absolutely pathetic.

A bit of this I reckon, the Jordie McKenzie approach...

I think we should make a play at Taylor Walker. Personally I think he will be a top player, but looks like he possibly could be a bit of a [censored]. Oh, and Phil Davis is a good get for GWS if his injuries hold up. Has been very impressive in the small amount of footy he has played for Adelaide.

Just out of interest, what does this statement 'stand for something' even mean? For instance what does a club like Essendon 'stand for'? Just sounds like a bit of old cliched [censored] if you ask me. We have 37,000 members, most of whom who are extremely passionate about this club. I know for a fact this club means a hell of a lot to a hell of a lot of people. Patrick Smith can go do one as far as I am concerned.

1. Malthouse: must leave no stone unturned in trying to get this done, would love to know from those with more legal nous than me, whether McGuire's threat holds any water at all. The story of poaching a coach coming of most likely 2 premierships off our oldest rival would give me immense pleasure. 2. Clarkson: get that peanut Pickering on the phone today and try and get to the bottom of Clarkson's situation. Would be a very good fit at the club given his coaching success, his history at the club etc. 3. Rocket: maybe he realises he has got as much as he can out of the Bulldog's list and is a proven fire breather who would give this list a big boot up the arse. 4. Viney: very interested to see how this season pans out. If we win 4 of our last 5 and play finals it would be a big tick in his column, but ultimately I would prefer one of the above 3. As for the other experienced coaches I am not fussed with any of them. Maybe a Laidley to join the coaching panel might be a good move, but not as the senior coach for me.

That's right, but conversely Schwab has to learn to keep out of strictly footballing matters. That seems to be the issue not the other way around, I am sure Brad Green and his mates aren't gate crashing board meetings telling Schwab and co how to run the club.
-
Thanks for the effort Dean and you seem like a decent bloke, but the only logical choice was made. Just hope that it doesn't stop there. I can't comment on Schwab and Connoly but I can comment that Green and the rest of the leadership group need to reveiwed heavily over the next couple of days. I will be furious if we simply roll into next week without doing so.

Missed the post match interview, could someone kindly point me in a direction I might find it, or fill me in on what was said. At a guess, did he just crap on about how powerful Geelong are???
-
Ill put my hand up and say I wanted Brad Green captain, but there is no doubt he has proved that he is not a captain's big toe. Sad state of affairs when a 20 year old off the rookie list is showing seasoned AFL footballers how it is done. Only thing is there is a definite lack of leadership in our 24+ group. Next year the youth need to put in charge, and maybe it will cost us some premiership points early on, but will reap rewards eventually. Telling our young guns to follow the lead of our current leadership group is detrimental long term IMO.

Pretty sure OP is taking the [censored], at least hope so

Do you reckon James McDonald has kept himself in good shape??

Glad Jared Rivers found it funny

Loved the galibier stage when he realised he wasn't going to get any help chasing Andy Schleck and just took control. One by one rode them off his wheel, until only a couple could go with him. Cut 2 minutes off AS's lead and kept himself in contention.
