Farewell Luke Jackson
Yeah not sure about that. They traded Kelly for two first rounders, and pick 24 and pick 37. They screwed every last drop for that deal. many other deals have been free agency and deals in their favour. I don't agree with the win / win philosophy. more of a 'we win' strategy.

Trade and Free Agency rumours
Why are people so enamoured with dekoning ? He was fully fit and playing seconds with Carlton crying out for a ruck. Silvagni was chosen second ruck ahead of him. He’s now 23, sure he may improve but on his body of work over his first five years you could say he won’t be a star but MIGHT eek out a decent career. If he improves a fair bit. And that’s a big ‘might’.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Sturt is 22 and played 5 games. How much interest can we have ?

Farewell Luke Jackson
yeah nah - future picks arent great when we are red hot in the window now. I can't see how Freo do this. and I reckon Lobb will be a matching second rounder. He's older and it will be a middle of the road contract by the Doggies.

did you watch the saints v swans game ?

CASEY: QF vs Sydney
I’m pleased to see we have young wingers coming through as there aren’t too many ready made in the AFL, and a young key forward so lots of promise, JVR AND Rossman caught my eye with AFL qualities especially.

Absolute rubbish he’s been a v good kick over the years.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Makes sense to me. I havent seen any scenario where Freo get it done. Cerra wanted to come to the Dees but we had no picks to give them, Carlton did. If Jackson is desperate to go home I predict it will be to the Weagles. and that deal surely has to include pick 2.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
and thank god. His first quarter saved about 3 potential goals in the grand final. He was terrifc.

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Sandringham
to me nonone was kicking the door down but a lot to get optimistic about. There has been such a lack of VFL games and form to go on. It will be good if we can get one or two players back soon like Hibberd and Lever and let these younger players develop for a month or two, We should then get a decent gauge. and who knows a Bowey or Petty may emerge and when they are ready make an impact for our side.

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Sandringham
Weid looks a bit down on confidence. Bedford in our best at half time just needs to tidy up his kicking a bit. Van Rooyen a couple of very good contested marks and 2 goals. Laurie looks like Bowey II coming through. Woewoedin looks very composed with a nice kicking style. playing well as is Howes. Dunstan started to control clearances more as the game went on. another St Kilda gift.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
when he starts grabbing marks? he's the best mark in the league. he didn't have the best of nights but that's rare nowadays.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
we do need Williams to get onto him with that kicking ball magic.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
horror fest. geez very harsh. very slippery and humid. not sure what you expected as suns defensive pressure was good all night.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Gold Coast
reminded me of when we'd play the good teams with 4 or 5 missing from their defence and watch as their 'second' defence would still carve us up in the end. and you'd think how can this be ? I think we are being harsh on Hunt. yes disposal can be iffy at times but people might underestimate his aerial defence and ability to shut down the opposition running goals. He helped stop many potential goals tonight. not saying he had a great game but no way will he get dropped for that effort, gave it 100%. but yeah my headline tonight was Bowey, he is Zen like with his reading of the ball coming in. never seems to over commit, is super clean and hits his targets. special mention to also to Clarry so had Rowell moved onto him as a tag and gave him a football lesson in the third.

yep. and Thomlinson looking up at the replay and gesturing it was the wrong call. words cannot describe how ridiculous the 8 50s were tonight.

Welcome to Demonland: Jacob Van Rooyen

2021 Player Reviews: #7 Jack Viney
excellent summary. I'd describe a lot of his grand final as 'blink and you will miss it', and only on a second viewing do you see when the ball was up for grabs, he was as influential as anyone. It was well set up by the end of the season as we used the athleticism of Clarry and Petracca break away. Like the forward line it clicked at the right time. Agree with an earlier call he was top 5 across the finals series after being our best in 2018. So I don't know why people bother to bag him when he returns from injury and doesn't dominate.

Dermott’s 2022 flag prediction
yeah it interesting I just don't seem them there and there abouts. Cotchin looks gone, reiwoldt surprised me last year but his time is close, lost some key players as mentioned. I just dont see it. Outside of us, I see the dogs with a huge talent base now, they will bring another elite junior in Darcy as well as Ugle Hagan to develop and the natural progression of an out and out gun in Smith and I'd be thinking they are our biggest competition next year. but you never know. It might 'click like it did for us with teams like Brisbane or Sydney.

2021 Player Reviews: #50 Ben Brown
Brown finding form at the end was the fairytale dream we could see as a possibility but so often doesnt happen. The stars aligned perfectly. He had a great finals series, the Brisbane game was imposing to start off the new 'finals' season and he stood up on the big stage for the rest of the finals. Now the exciting part is our biggest doubt this year, the forward line, has come together nicely so we look strong all over the ground. I can easily see him injury free kicking 50 plus next year and having the occasional day out to win an easy game or two.

agreed. lets not forget 3 goals in the qualifying and 3 in the preliminary. He was a key reason throughout the year for our improvement. Had to go home for him mums funeral for quite a while and came back in super nick for round 1 which was an excellent sign. Got himself super fit was a key reason our vast for improvement in the first half of the year. the skys the limit, if he gets a big tank watch out.
