  1. yes. Watching the Geelong game on the weekend, was watching two completely different team styles. I thought our defensive pressure was actually good most of the game but Geelong had precise kicking all day long. a little bit off and they would have been on trouble. credit to them. We are the opposite. Watch the replay and Geelong so often 50-70m out kicked short to a safe target. they went safe all day. sometimes we just need to hit a short target up forward and tease out their backline to honour our forwards leading then occasionally go deep. and we need to mark then kick short quickly, not like Salems last effort which was to watch us outnumber them in the forward line, then wait 30 seconds then kick to an impossible contest.
  2. they all showed significant improvement under Goodwin yes.
  3. Tom McDonald, Harmes, Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca, Melksham.
  4. i think he is seen as one of the managers to 'win' off in the AFL. we paid too much for Lever, although people exagerate that cost. it was basically the equivalent of a first rounder and a late second rounder. I thought he definitely should have got more back for pick 5 in a super draft for May. That was highway robbery as he was in the second half of his career. and the North trade boggles the mind, even given next year is packed with father sons and academy picks. If we win the premiership we still lose. what ? and did we know we were getting Pickett ? I don't want a Dodoro who is the opposite but he gives too much. I feel like we might become middle of the road and have no top picks going into next year to improve us.
  5. watch it again, a cats player gets in contact on his arm to dislodge the ball.
  6. hard to take anything from the footage really given the lack of pressure. From what Goodwin was saying in the presser they want Bennell to get his legs underneath him. Right now with fitter players coming back they will wait till he is more durable. For all its worth we ran the game out on the weekend because he dropped those who dropped off against Carlton, namely Jackson, Jones and Bennell. you'd think its just a matter of time. hes now had 3 hit outs.
  7. I’ve thought the last 2 years we need an injection of youth and pace in the backline. We just need it. jetta deserves all the accolades internally but he is slow as anyone in the AFL. That does cost us, despite him being a very good footballer.
  8. he was a lot worse with Caro, with the 'keep her head under water' comment, which was specifically hateful. and says a hell of a lot for both Eddie and Caro's 'moral fibre' that they now sell out and sit next to each other on footy classified. the almighty dollar overrides the conscience.
  9. its all ok. Collingwood have an integrity unit with a board member co-opted in, so it will all be ok.
  10. I agree, which is ridiculous to think it would be based on when the pitch forks were out or not.
  11. what? Ben King at Gold Coast played 14 game last year in his first season and Max had a knee injury keeping him out for the season.
  12. nor can you conclude he will be ordinary. its such early day, but he showed good promise.
  13. I'd delist weideman and Brown before Petty who will be stronger and has shown a bit more in his total games. and can play both ends.
  14. can anyone explain how Essendon have a full side to choose from sans McKenna. He wasn't training remotely. I do not trust Essendon for a minute to report honestly.
  15. surely we can't turn May into a garbage kick. thats the end of the line.
  16. I look at that side, at near full strength and even knowing my own team, for the life of me I cannot fathom how we can't put ordinary sides away. Imagine Clarkson with a team of May, Lever, Jetta down back, a midfield of Gawn, Viney, Oliver, Brayshaw, Petracca, Langdon, Thomlinson and Bennell for cameos, then a forward line of Tmac, Kozzie, AVB, Melksham, Jackson/Weid, Hannan to choose from. We have the talent, we have the balance. The only concession is the limited experience together for our backline and forward line, but if we can't put it together this season at full strength then we are doomed.
  17. everyone tunes in for ANB. Just nobody admits it.
  18. based on what ? before his knee he was producing elite levels. had a good round 1, so so round 2. and I think 1 first rounders is a stretch when we got Harrison Petty at pick 37 as part of the deal. and I rate Lever miles ahead of Stocker and O'Brien so far. Lever, Pick 37 and Pick 47. FOR Pick 10 (2017), pick 19 (2018) and Pick 59 (2018)
  19. Petty looks good to me. what did we get from St Kilda ?
  20. i hate collingwood but can't see what Heritier wants by rehashing old issues.i thought the pies did everything Heritier asked of them.
  21. interesting take. What disappoints me so far this season is we are still unorganized, especially down back. I actually think up forward we had decent kicking to position etc but we were just beaten by Carltons defence. Weitering was fist class. But down back after 3 years we still don't seem to be organised. How can this be ? I will giv ite a few more weeks as Rivers is new and May / Lever need a bit more time but I expect this to improve. If we had an organised backline we would be hard to beat. and thats a coaching problem.
  22. disagree. we were at our lowest and when the game was on last year we bullied them. they were very lucky to get close. agreed this time they should have won but didn't. they were a lot older
  23. He played the last minute beautifully with experience. go watch the replay, he read they were going to go long under pressure and Martin was in the wrong position for an impossible kick under pressure from Walsh. When he marked the ball it was ALL carlton everywhere on his side. He kicked to Fritsch advantage whilst outnumbered and we got the ball back when others arrived. we were gone if he didn't do that. dead in the water. But some one here just think he should have pinpointed a perfect pass to the non existent teammate ?!?!?
  24. yes, in the dying moments the kick to Langdon into space was critical, which should have resulted in a shot on goal to Thomlinson who had his arms chopped. showed skill and poise. still at full forward he got the ball in dangerous spots, just didn't convert.
  25. we have a better list than Carlton. our best should beat them easily. we just stopped. and still won.
