Seriously? They have sooo much talent even from a host of first rounders this year, the under 16 national team is peppered with elite talent tied to the gold coast, so they will get yet another massive draft haul in a year or two. seriously how much can they get? It isn't right. I remember Blakey had two teams he could go (North and Lions?) as F/S to but the swans somehow end up with an elite player. My goodness.
  2. yes his highlights were great, the run down tackle saving a probable goal, a couple very handy dish offs in close. 16 possies in 3/4 and used it well. Windsor, Howes and Billings certain to stay in.
  3. Senior coach also put us into a position to win. We could not execute our goal kicking.
  4. Hunt had his chances there, his disposal was sub par. But yes boy does he have pace. When he took a defensive role he was more effective using his pace to stop the faster forwards, more than create play.
  5. its interesting we are getting predictions to miss top 8 from Jenkins and Stevie J. we won the majority of games sans Clarry, in fact our midfield did extremely well. I think a bigger factor is we may need to move an A grader in Brayshaw to defence. In saying all that we lost finals due to goal kicking so the ingredients are there otherwise. If we hold our mettle keep most of the list fit we can finish up the top.
  6. Very harsh. He was absolutely critical to us in the 21 finals series. played well in all 3 games. he took heaps of marks that September. how short some memories are.
  7. based on performance I think Turner, who is improving like JVR the year before.
  8. I think this bloke is the most talented of the younger players yet to debut. lets see what 2024 holds for him.
  9. Simliar situation for him as JVR early this year. Probably should have got a game for the finals, dropped after a good game against Sydney, so should be in the frame for round one. and its Sydney up there again. He looks ready to go.
  10. Agreed. He has not shown enough as yet. Im hoping he and Adams can push for selection this year.
  11. The 2022 draft class have yet to debut. What are the expectations on them coming into their second season next year ? Reminder its Jefferson, Adams. Verrall, Sestan
  12. I think Sestan is one of the most talented players we have. he also gets the ball the least unfortunately. hopefully his second year is the year for him.

Weitering wasnt even the best at his club that year. Walsh isnt clearly the best player either.
  14. bloke says nothing for 2 years then does a drive by based on no evidence whatsoever. We've whined have we ? Love how people are experts only after the siren is blown for the second final. didnt say anything last week in case he had egg on his face. well done.
  15. This. I feel the same. Lost the will to watch the finals. Have to take a break. its just orchestrated results at the tribunal and no care for the player beyond some words. Disgraceful.
  16. well said. I'm very glad Goodwin made those comments. Your Pickett example is a perfect comparision, chose to bump and got him in the head. and Smith played on. We copped 2 weeks and we moved on. And that changed Kozzie, he was flying but came back not quite as instictive. He had to change his game. And so should everyone else. I do fear however they will take this outside the tribunal like the Cripps one and manufacture an absolute rubbish response. i.e Cripps was a 'bump' so all was forgiven. pffft.
  17. im actually stunned at the 'nothing in it' comments after so many get suspended for far less. Do we want ot protect the head or not ? I'm lost for words. He braced himself for front on contact and knocked him out.
  18. yes we arent hunting like 2021. We have to smash into Carlton at 100 miles an hour on Friday night. nothing to lose type attitude and put them on the back foot for a change. Carlton smashed us early last time. time to enact revenge.
  19. disagree. Brayshaw was exactly what we needed when they were coming in the first quarter and a half. We lost by 7 points. It made a difference. our sub wasnt nearly as effective.
  20. well what can you do when Brown goes down, then Petty, then Tmac, then Melksham comes good then hes injured. There are only so many options.
  21. But thats part of their problem. They are fanatical. The night of the bread rolls got rid of Matthew Knights, they demand to press boundaries all the time, and love their own like Dodoro despite all the evidence they aren't progressing. Very much like Carlton but the difference is Carlton have had patience and finally moved past the old brown paper bag era. Essendon havent got their game together for the modern game. The bombers have had many high picks and they are still a long way off. And I rate Scott as a coach. thats one good appointment but he was about their 4th choice, as the other fell down.

I love the apathy on here for this bloke. Are people insane? All Australian and 5th in the brownlow, inside outside runner who racks them up. Not a great kick ? so you dont rate Clarry, Brayshaw and Petracca then. Has averaged over 30 possies last 3 years in his prime at only 26 years old. The only argument is around balance. He is absolutely a quality midfielder.
  23. I thought Turner and Laurie as the sub both had good game. Turner whilst beaten on the lead early seemed to get better as the game went on. His aggressive kicking was executed well and he is tough as nails and with a lot of great contested work in what was a brutally hard game. I think we have a beauty !! he just needs more time at AFL level. Laurie is finding that condifence Bowey had first year and showing his tricks. His passing and movement through traffic was terrific.
  24. I'm a fan. He was dynamic, very hard at it, took on some very aggressive kicks and executed. I think he could be a beauty. Only thing is (and the same problem for Thomlinson) is taking a ruck one on one. But he brings the pace we need. The future looks bright if he can hold down a key back spot, and be attacking with Petty up forward. I trust Goodwin to make the right choice.
  25. hes a perfect examplre of a role model top football clubs need. Nobody would have him first 222 at this stage. How did he keep the fire in the belly playing at Casey for long periods ?
