  1. LOL to whoever said this would be the first deal done during trade week.
  2. Seems to me that we have what is a fairly even draft which might work out in favour of clubs like us that have spent/will spend their early draft picks during trading time.
  3. Anyone know when the decision will be made?
  4. I think we've improved our midfield depth and strength considerably and the players we have will continue to improve our midfield stocks. PF - we could well be only one or two mids away from close to the ideal midfield setup and another quick moving, quick thinking mid might just do they trick. That's why I said elsewhere that we need to trade in one pick in the late first or early second round in the draft.
  5. We have no 1st rounder and have to trade a second round pick to get Hibberd It looks as if it's essential that we therefore trade out one player so that we can take advantage of the draft depth to have at least one pick in the 20s. Follow that up with a 3rd round pick and upgrade Josh Wagner and Mitch White and that's about it.
  6. If that's the case and getting Wells doesn't cost in terms of draft picks or a player swap, then perhaps we should make further enquiries. He's also related to Aaron Davey - it would be nice to see him at the club.
  7. Is there any vision around of Paul Roos' pre match speech from last weekend?
  8. I sometimes think we're a precious lot. It wasn't all that long ago that the only publicity we received was bad but most of the time we were rarely covered in the media. The consequences were that we were considered irrelevant - we stood for nothing and meant nothing and of course, we lagged behind in membership, sponsorship and just about every aspect of the sport. These days, we're getting plenty of media, the overwhelming majority of it positive. We have players featuring almost weekly on The Footy Show and other programmes and there are plenty of stories about our boys in the news - all of which improves our public perception, especially among kids which ultimately helps promoting the club. Flanagan puts together a well written and interesting article which might not be news to us but would be a revelation to the football world and the wider public at large and people are complaining it's a puff piece. Sheesh!!!
  9. In KC's review of Saturday's game, he stated that he thought Oliver has grown since he was drafted. I saw him at the G at half time standing next to Liam Hulett and he didn't look to be much shorter. I'm predicting that by the time he matures and fills out he's going to be a midfield monster.
  10. So if we get Hibberd then we have Melksham and him as our new players for 2017 which doesn't quite add an exciting dimension to the team. Essendon achieved very little in the years they played with them so I don't see their additions to the list moving us forward in leaps and bounds. We definitely need more.
  11. We're gonna whup them Pies with the sting of the Bees and the speed of the Butterflies
  12. Dawes, Grimes and Trengove definitely in the running for a place in this week's team.
  13. Unless I missed something, all three of the Bulldogs emergencies for today's game played for their VFL team yesterday and were named in their best players. They didn't even hold back a player for today. I doubt there will be a late call up. BEST: Footscray Bulldogs: Jong Dalgleish Dunkley Hamilton Honeychurch Webb
  14. Nar ... it's because next week we play Brisbane who were monstered by Collingwood last night that makes today so important. We always lose to teams in hopeless situations like Brisbane so we have to make up for next week by beating the dogs today.
  15. Judging by the look of Martin's old man, I doubt very much that the family had a maid.
  16. Round 23, 2015 and Round 1, 2016 - both against GWS.
  17. In spite of which there are some who still question his right to coach the team this year. Go figure?
  18. It was probably a good career move for him to try out elsewhere if he was going to join an AFL team given his father's connection with Melbourne, an association that might have resulted in a conflict of interest situation down the track.
  19. I enjoyed the game thoroughly but apart from that my highlight was the fact that the players ran out in proper attire and a jumper recognisably connected with the MFC.
  20. Dr Turf gets stuck into Hird and Holmes

  22. Leon Zwier advised the MFC on the "tanking" wash up - James Hird and Essendon board to blame for sorry saga
