  1. Anyone think it might be worthwhile to give Sheeds a call to see if he's available?
  2. Before you and some of your mates hijacked it to once again bag the previous admin, "this thread" was about Essendon. Remember?
  3. With Fitzy's beak do you reckon he could read a contract if it was put under his nose?
  4. That last line perfectly sums up my big nightmare of 2013.
  5. The problem I have is the elephant in the room (or perhaps not exactly in the room) in the form of Dr. Bate. IMO, before Craig can even be considered, the club has to be certain that he had no involvement whatsoever with what was going on there. For the record, I'm not accusing but the club needs to be damn sure that nobody connected with that little episode has a role to play going forward.
  6. Fitzy isn't playing this week because of concussion. Did he get that in last week's game?
  7. I think we are exhibiting all of the signs of a club that's deliberately tanking. Last night we had more disposals, more inside 50's, more scoring shots and not only inexplicably missed easy shots at goal but had about three out of bounds on the full. Mitch Clark, our best forward trained this week but not only wasn't selected: he was put on the LTI. Chris Dawes was a "test" early in the week but failed to front and key players Jeremy Howe and Cam Pedersen were mysterious last minute omissions. And where is Melbourne hiding its two All Australians Frawley & Jamar? As for Carlton, there will be no investigation whatsoever of their 2004-2007 tanking performances apart from if an admission comes from Brett Ratten in public. As for their pitiful capitulation yesterday against the Bulldogs who lost not long ago to Melbourne, all I can say is that Mick Malthouse might have looked a trifle p1zzed off last night but inwardly, he was giggling.
  8. Collingwood's Brodie Grundy played well again last night and, after the game, it was reported that Eddie McGuire took the NAB Rising Star selection panel out to supper at an exclusive Sydney nightspot.
  9. ... and you can post irrespective of race, colour, creed or gender just as long as you don't barrack for Carlton.
  10. I think Kreuzer has escaped the flack thrown at Jack Watts but IMO he's been the most ... er second most disappointing #1 draft pick (after Voldemort) in the past decade.
  11. Apparently called him by a derogatory name.
  12. The evidence of the shocking culture at the club has been there for all to see over the past decade or so. Fitness levels can be measured and the measurements don't lie. I can only assume that Moloney was completely and utterly delusional if it's true that he spat the dummy at not being chosen captain. His reaction was of course, proof positive that the correct decision was made. He's not a captain's bootlace.
  13. Very stimulating. I don't mean the carp about Pagan (the last thing we need at the helm right now is a real estate agent). I mean the story at the bottom of the article. Link: Partying Jennifer Hawkins slows down for wedding
  14. A week or two ago the CEO said the loss was going to be a little over $1m.Who said it was $3m let alone $4m? And if it is, then the CEO must go and the bloke who installed him (Vlad) should foot the bill!
  15. Starting to clear the air a bit over that Mifsud controversy but some of the mystery still remains. It's good to see that he vindicates his coach in full of the racism allegation that was levelled at him in his early coaching days. As for Flash, he has to produce constantly - one swallow doesn't make a winter.
  16. I wonder if you're actually on to something there Jack? Some players knew that Melbourne was hiding a dark secret about the club's connection with Dank. No doubt they would have discussed it among themselves and no doubt many of them would have felt uneasy about the circumstances. If it were me, I would feel more than somewhat betrayed. The positive side would have to be the fact that it's now all out in the open and the fact that the club was not as secretive with the AFL as the media initially painted it could lift a heavy burden off the playing group. I'm not saying this will suddenly make us a great team but it could well explain our abject mediocrity in the first three rounds of the season. If we get up and win tomorrow, the theory will get a further boost.
  17. Great news. I expect we'll sign Jonathan Brown about a week before Wimbledon.
  18. Well judging by some of the happenings at the club and the way the team's playing ATM, I reckon we're becoming very much like Richmond of the middle to latter part of the last decade. We treat our own with contempt, devour them and then gloat about it. Sickening.
  19. So they'll forgive the $500k fine and give us an ex gratia grant of another $500k if we sack CS? Then what happens on the day after?
  20. I wouldn't drop Watts this week but I would move him into the forward line along with Gawn, Tappy and Kent with the latter two being the two small goal kicking options. With Clark up there all we need to worry about is getting the pill to them.
