  1. I made a start on this last night and I'm working very slowly and methodically through the players available. Here's my first draft: 1. Gold Coast - David Swallow (Subiaco, WA) I'll build on this as the year unfolds. Just imagine the excitement in the Hugh Trumble Room as they start the countdown from 10 to 1 with our pick somwhere in the 20s!
  2. Precisely why Redleg described him as a "riser"!
  3. Hawthorn bottomed out for a few years and won a flag last year. Melbourne is on track. Collingwood is on it's way out.
  4. Worse than thrush ... he might get drafted by Port Adelaide. That is what he, his manager and his pack of advisers deserve.
  5. Did you really expect that a Collingw&%$ supporter was capable of counting past four?
  6. McGurk should stick with the Demons Caroline Watson | November 1, 2009 MARTY MCGURK and Melbourne must wonder how it came to this. Back in October, 2008 the Demon utility who once topped his clubs' polling in the Zebra reserves best and fairest voting sat down during the club's end of season trip to Wangaratta with Nathan Carroll and Ben Holland for a lengthy conversation with The Sunday Age about life as a footballer and Melbourne's 2009 prospects. McGurk, now 25, was one of the three club members destined for delisting. He was also one of Melbourne's lowest-paid players - definitely in the bottom three. He was saved from delistment because of his lowly remuneration which kept his club's total player payments below its salary cap limit. Read on ... www.bullshnews.com.au/
  7. I disagree. My mail is that the Magpies want him with a passion and have been making a big play for him to declare his allegience to them. The first part of the strategy is to drop hints here and there to the effect that he doesn't want to play for the team that won the wooden spoon. Next, he'll say he doesn't want to play with Fremantle because the purple gear doesn't match the colour of his eyes. Port Adelaide's no good because the ground's on the wrong side of the railway tracks yadda, yadda, yadda ...
  8. Hey OX. Good to see you're out of therapy for the first time since the Prelim Final!
  9. That's wonderful. You're looking for insight into a player but you don't care if it's been "completely made up." You might be easy to please but we should refuse to accept the appalling standard set by Dr. Jekyl. We would have obtained the very same insight into Aaron Black had he properly attributed the views expressed as coming from Gilly34 on TalkingCarlton. What the Dr. did was unacceptable on a forum such as this!
  10. It's a completely different game these days. It's fully professional, there are 16 teams, interstate travel, programmes favouring certain higher drawing clubs, the interchange, salary caps. the rules etc. All of these make it harder for young teams to climb to the top quickly. It might be a longer ride but I suspect we're still going to enjoy it!
  11. My guess is that no current Carlton players were there in person to collect the award for finishing 11th in the b & f even though it was a convenient drive to this particular venue.
  12. I would bring Brock McLean back one more time to escort him around the Bubbledome building site to show Luke what his future training facilities would look like ... Just as he did with Bradshaw and Risky Telly ... Oops ... on second thoughts ...
  13. Final score: Central District 13.14.92 defeated Sturt 7.12.54. Disappointing result but Jack Trengove showed in adversity that he is a class footballer. Strong body, class, poise and a good kick. Holds his ground in the contests with much older opponents. This was not his best game. He was much better last week but the wraps on him are 100% accurate. He will be a very, very good footballer.
  14. Three Quarter Time Central District 12.12.84 to Sturt 6.7.43
  15. Sturt 5.7.37 to Central District 11.11.77
  16. Becoming a blow out at Half Time - Dogs 9.8.62 to Sturt 3.6.24
  17. Dogs 5 goals up and looking too slick. JT being well covered.
  18. Quarter time:CD 6.3.39 to Sturt 3.3.21
  19. Sturt's skipper wins the toss but the Double Blues start slowly again. The Dogs have the first two goals.
  20. Sturt's champion forward Brant Chambers is in for his first final this year after several weeks' injury. The Sturt banner reads:- Luke Norman's men brave and strong we'll finish the day with the premiership song
  21. From a preview of the game from one of the local papers in SA:-
