  1. This was last years named team, which won pretty easily (red not available next week) B [29] Jayden Hunt,[1] Steven May,[8] Jake Lever HB [14] Michael Hibberd,[35] Harrison Petty,[3] Christian Salem C [23] James Jordon,[5] Christian Petracca,[15] Ed Langdon HF [36] Kysaiah Pickett,[25] Tom McDonald,[10] Angus Brayshaw FF [30] Alex Neal-Bullen,[50] Ben Brown,[31] Bayley Fritsch FOL [11] Max Gawn,[13] Clayton Oliver,[7] Jack Viney IC [4] James Harmes,[6] Luke Jackson,[9] Charlie Spargo,[24] Trent Rivers So Bowey for Hibberd, Joel Smith for Petty and Brayshaw for Salem (Sparrow for Brayshaw) are the differences between last year's team and this for mine, with Tomlinson missing out for Lever my only change. I think BBB and Weid are competing for the same spot, I'd be happy to give BBB another week to get back up to full load.
  2. I first started watching the dees in the early 80’s, so love often wondered what it was like watching the wonderous dees sides of the 1950’s where they lost a total of 6 games at the G in the last 6 yrs of the decade. Now I think I’ve got a good idea - we might not have smashed every team, every week back then but had a team playing team first footy with one or more of our stars shining through. Good times ahead.
  3. I'd like to remind everyone who's been potting Joel Smith over the last 2-3 years that (a) he has improved and (b) the coaches have worked with him, recognised his improvement and selected him accordingly. No reason the same rules don't apply to Weid. Give the bloke a chance and maybe pump up his tyres rather than forecast him failing and then delighting in it when it happens.
  4. I'd think the last thing the AFL want is another lopsided free kick count which will be counter intuitive to their broader push to respect the umpires. They'd be hoping for the commentary to be around the quality of the football rather than the umpiring and that last night's game is forgotten by Sunday.
  5. Crazy to consider this thread when you see what's going on with West Coast at the moment.
  6. Two rising star nominations and a premiership medallion in 9 games. With an award every three games, it's quite possible he'll win the brownlow three times this year, the coleman medal, the norm smith and the rising star.
  7. I’m enjoying watching the swannies play, they’re so much more watchable without that [censored] Papley. And hats off to Paddy McCartin, massive first qtr. I wonder how many more goals Buddy needs?
  8. As well as Nibbler's effort in the 4th when he was stuffed from the run, as well as two posters from Trac and BBB (or was it three??).
  9. Whilst I didn't agree with it on the night, the Twitter account "Has the umpire made the correct decision" on the Weightman block. I normally agree with him, but this one I'm still struggling with.
  10. So if Chris Scott carries on like this, this year, is it a 50m penalty for disrespecting umpiring decisions?
  11. You brought a tear to my eye Ernie, exactly like the kids did to you.
  12. It was my birthday yesterday - great present. I love this boy.
  13. And he would have got away with it too, if it wasn't for you pesky kids.
  14. This just epitomises the high esteem with which Max is held within the club
  15. If you take this approach, Petty would never have got another game after his debut. And he turned out pretty good with a few games under his belt.
  16. I'd have gone with Weird Al Jankovic.
  17. Why not frame Joel Smith's game in a positive light. Seemingly waiting for the bloke to fail is pretty poor.
  18. Completely agree with this daz. He has a great balance of defensive accountability and knowing when to run off his player. And I love how he hoof's the ball. Him and Salo on the half back line are a great pairing.
  19. Wouldn't it be great if instead of Hells Bells before the song as the boys come out, they swapped it with Freed from Desire. Get in their faces.
  20. Maginficent work Webber. I'd leave Bont just like that, just a shadow of our champ.
  21. There's a difference daz between Sound the alarm and Sound the alarm documentary. No longer alarmed however.
  22. I thought something had gone wrong, or someone was injured. Maybe retitle the thread to Book it in to your calendar or similar?
  23. My primary school aged son and I did this trip back in 2016? when we kicked 16 goals in the second half. Metricon is a fair way out of the Gold Coast. Back then (probably still the same), your ticket allowed for public transport to/from the ground. Given we left it a bit late, we caught a taxi out to the ground to watch the game. Great ground, it feels a lot fuller than crowd numbers suggested. We got tickets through the club (upper level, great view and friendly neighbours). My boy and I had a kick on the ground after the game for what seemed like ages to let the queue for the buses die down a bit (and it was fun!) and then caught a bus/tram back to the hotel . Great atmosphere on the public transport with multiple renditions of the song. My boy loved the weekend and I'm sure is keen to go back
