  1. Go and draft the best ruckman in the country outside of AFL listed players. Need a mature back-up for Max.
  2. Billings and Langdon on the wings. Windsor as the starting sub. Petty to be subbed out late in the third qtr.
  3. Callum Twomey has mentioned in the latest episode of Gettable (from the 29:56 mark) that Kalani White has a "decision to make" between us and the Gold Coast Suns. He can nominate for either team. He is eligible for next years draft. https://www.afl.com.au/video/1090468/gettable-dogs-offer-star-deal-lions-eye-jet-pair-clubs-battle-for-young-gun?videoId=1090468&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1710893767001
  4. There was a clear directive to use the corridor more. However, with our poor disposal by foot (which I hope is just rust), we turned it over which meant we were exposed with players free/defenders out of position. Kozzy was impressive in the middle with his clearance work, however he burned a number of teammates by continuing to wheel around the corner and bomb it into the fwd 50. If he gives the handball out to our exit options like Langdon and Windsor, they would be better balanced to kick the ball inside 50, leading to more efficient entries. Neal-Bullen was given a significant amount of minutes in the midfield which I am not sure about. We lacked forward pressure inside 50 which he is renowned for with his pressure acts. I really hoped to see examples of us hitting up the short targets in our forward line, but more often than not it was the same old tactic of bomb it in long, and hope for the best.
  5. He was a Collingwood supporter growing up.
  6. It is a complete no no for opposition list managers to state a player wants to leave a club. Even if they throw in "at some stage". Reid has no right to comment on an opposition player's 'desire' in this manner. Demons will rightly be livid with this.
  7. Not a big deal but....Harrison Petty's instagram bio yesterday had melbournefc references in it (as per below image). Those references have now been removed....
  8. What has become apparent over the last couple of days, is how little people in the media know about Harrison Petty's ability. Barrett and Dal Santo talking as if he's some unproven rookie. Laughable. There is a reason the Crows (who have notoriously underpaid for players in the past) have tabled such a big contract in front of Petty. Must keep.
  9. Looks like we are holding firm...... https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/trade-news-three-teams-involved-in-pick-swap-as-demons-hold-firm-on-harrison-petty-after-big-offer-from-crows/news-story/d59da9f9e77d17692f800fb937a9f084 "Melbourne will not flinch on holding contracted defender Harrison Petty to his contract as they prepare to offer Adelaide a pick in the 30s for forward Shane McAdam. Adelaide is understood to have offered South Australian 197cm forward Petty a long-term front-ended deal that could hit as much as $800,000 a season across the life of the contract. In response Melbourne, which has Petty contracted for two more seasons, is understood to be open to extending his contract at more lucrative terms to ensure the 23-year-old stays at the Demons. Despite Petty being open-minded to a move back to South Australia at some stage, the Demons can hold firm given he is a contracted player."
  10. We would have taken Billings over Kelly had we not traded our pick 2 in the 2013 draft. Our recruiters really rated him. Would not be surprised if we take a chance on him.
  11. Swans to play "hard-ball", Sam Landsberger was the writer (is a WBD supporter, has been very critical of Demons since flag) https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afl-trade-period-brodie-grundy-offer-joel-hamling-requests-trade-to-sydney/news-story/979f13e78db8ae0e6ddd04f42ecc4cb6 Sydney is closing in on a premiership defender after missing out on Ben McKay as the Swans also prepare to play hardball on unwanted Demon Brodie Grundy. The Herald Sun can reveal that uncontracted Fremantle defender Joel Hamling, who played in the Western Bulldogs’ 2016 premiership side. The Swans will also sign Melbourne midfielder James Jordon – who is another premiership player (2021) – as they look to spike next season. Jordon is also eligible to be signed as a free agent. The Swans are also certain to secure Grundy in a trade with the Demons. The Swans hold picks No.11, 23, 31, 42 and 50 in this year’s draft. There is a belief that given Schache was preferred to dual All-Australian Grundy in the Melbourne’s best 23, and the Demons need the dual All-Australian’s salary off their books, that their bargaining power is minimal. A pick as low as No.31 or 42 is likely to get that deal done.
  12. The club got rid of Watts for behavioural stuff, and a lot of fans weren't happy with it at the time. We got Fritsch out of it and it turned out alright. If Oliver does leave, then his behavioural issues were obviously so concerning that the club had to make the move. Willing to back the club in.
  13. @goodwindees strikes again https://7news.com.au/sport/afl/sydney-swans-co-captain-callum-mills-suffers-bad-off-season-injury-as-mad-monday-celebrations-go-horribly-wrong-c-12023911
  14. The Heraldsun article mentions he was our backline coach...... I wonder what Chaplin's been doing all these years
  15. Marchbank claimed he touched one of Sydney's goals in the last quarter. He was on the bench at the time.........
  16. Gold Coast will want to trade it for as many draft pick points as possible to cover for their academy kids. GC give Pick 4 (2034 points) Dees give Pick 15 (1112 points) + Pick 34 (542 points) + Future first (1112 points if we finish in same spot next year) I think we will get a 2023 or 2024 second round pick from Port for Brodie Grundy anyway, so 34 won't be needed. Will leave us with Pick 4, Pick 5 and Pick 24
  17. James Frawley deserved to be listed. One of the few Demon defenders to be named All-Australian.
  18. If he stays, I'm OK with having a solid back-up plan for Max, who is into his thirties, and has a history of long-term injuries. If he goes to Port, I'm OK with it as we can move a big contract off our books, and potentially get a player like Georgiades coming back the other way.
  19. I wonder whether this guy will ever suffer ramifications for poor performances.......
  20. Has put contract talks on hold. Was very good on the weekend.
  21. The Melbourne player he didn't know much about, but has been really impressed by over the pre-season?
  22. Ummmmm Gary Buckenara had a few interesting takes........ He rated Oscar Baker as a B grade player amongst players such as Grundy, Langdon, Pickett and Fritsch He also says that he expected us to offload some players for salary cap relief to bring Grundy in, and suggested Ed Langdon as one of the players we could/should have offloaded. Wow.
