2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
For those who have not seen it yet: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1217505/inside-trading-key-factor-for-eagles-targets-swan-gets-offer-clubs-meet-for-trade-talks MELBOURNE will not have access to tall forward prospect Tairon Ah-Mu under Next Generation Academy rules when the 17-year-old hits his draft season next year. Ah-Mu is a member of the Demons' NGA program but under the AFL's eligibility criteria, he does not qualify for the club to have any priority access over him as a draftee.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Crows have always been interested, despite the risk. I wonder if they'll throw pick 4 + steak knives at us?

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Honestly, who is going to be next? Rivers? McVee? JVR? Heads have got to roll. Roffey, Pert and/or Richardson

Christian Petracca
Get him out. If we force him to stay, he'll bugger off to Europe for the year and get paid to do nothing as he "recovers", then request a trade to the Pies at the end of season 2025. Trade him now. Get: 11, 31, Future 1st, Future 2nd and Adam Cerra Give: Petracca (and his full contract) That'll do. Goodbye.

Christian Petracca
If he wants to go to Collingwood, tell them we'll have the Lexus Centre (or whatever it is called now) as part of the deal. That'll sort out the home base issue.

Season 2024 Over for Clayton Oliver
Smart decision. Now he can set himself up for a great pre-season.

TRAINING: Friday 9th August 2024
If he's not allowed to get his heart rate above 110. I wouldn't recommend that he has a match day role. My heart rate hits 180 every turnover.

PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Port Adelaide
Viney looks really sore, will probably require surgery on his shoulder Oliver has 14 pins in his hand, will require surgery Gawn has his ankle/leg issue May has his back/ribs issue Get them all in for surgery/recovery early so that they are fit for the majority of the preseason. And give the AFL minutes to guys in the VFL to see what they have (Laurie, Jefferson, Fullarton, K Brown)

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne
If Kozzy is going to spend time in the middle, he can't continue to avoid contested situations. He goes in one handed and is timid in contested situations. He also lowers his body as he goes into the contest to try and get a head high free, and when the opposition doesn't get sucked into giving away the free, he ends up on the floor with the ball and then rushes his disposal. Needs to cut it out of his game if he is going to continue to get minutes in the midfield.

The Kalani White Thread (F/S)
It's happened before with Nick Blakey. Was eligible under father-son for Brisbane or North Melbourne, but chose to go to the Swans because he was part of their academy, and that was where he lived/grew up. If it happens, and we end up having lost Mac Andrew (due to changes in NGA) and Kalani White, I agree, it will be tough to swallow.

Steven May - 100 MFC Games
One of the best key position defenders this club has ever had. Here's to many more games. PS. I'm in the market for one of his guernseys for the pool room, if anyone is looking to sell? 🙂

Ben Cousins
The Herald Sun reported today that he trained with them on Thursday Cousins makes surprise footy return at Old Xavs West Coast and Richmond champion Ben Cousins had a kick with the Old Xavierans under-23 players at training on Thursday night, showing the brilliant midfielder has lost none of his silken touch. Cousins, who was in Melbourne as part of an appearance on Channel 7’s award-winning ‘Front Bar’ program, trained with the Old Xavs’ third division and under-23 team and stayed for dinner afterwards. While it was a low-key affair for the Brownlow Medallist, who is regarded as one of the greatest players of the modern era, it was a major thrill for the Old Xavs’ youngsters. And onlookers said Cousins, who has made an incredible comeback from drug addiction, “kicked the ball beautifully” as part of a one-hour run-around at Toorak Park. “He was fantastic with the players. He didn’t make a big fuss or anything, he just enjoyed being out there having a kick around with the guys,” an onlooker said. “He had a chat with the guys and then had some dinner in the rooms afterwards. “He still looks in great touch, that’s for sure.” Cousins played 270 games for West Coast and Richmond and has been lauded for his efforts to overcome drug addiction which ended his career at the Eagles. Cousins appears on Channel 7 in Perth and will appear on Dancing With the Stars.

The Kalani White Thread (F/S)
Callum Twomey has mentioned in the latest episode of Gettable (from the 29:56 mark) that Kalani White has a "decision to make" between us and the Gold Coast Suns. He can nominate for either team. He is eligible for next years draft. https://www.afl.com.au/video/1090468/gettable-dogs-offer-star-deal-lions-eye-jet-pair-clubs-battle-for-young-gun?videoId=1090468&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1710893767001
