The Luke Beveridge Thread
29th July, 2013, Peter Jackson appeared on "On the Couch". Interview is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bu0NIDU-aC0 Jackson was one of, if not the best appointment the club has had this century. He stated on the program, that at times "the club's gone back to too many people who have got red and blue...I think sometimes we don't have a propensity in this club to bring in the best from outside". He then spruiked the culture and winning environments at clubs like Sydney and Geelong. After that interview he went on to appoint a number of people within the football department from those cultures. Paul Roos, George Stone, Ben Mathews, Brett Allison, Brendan McCartney, Matthew Egan and Shannon Byrnes. Industry best appointments. My worry is that we are now moving away from appointing the best, and reverting to this propensity of former MFC people. Brad Green - President Nathan Jones - Midfield coach Mark Jamar - Ruck coach Alastair Nicholson - rumoured as next CEO Steven Smith - rumoured as next President Luke Beveridge - rumoured as possible next coach These people may very well be the best options, and that it's just a coincidence that they have had a MFC involvement before,I don't know from afar. But I just hope we are not reverting back to what we were before Jackson. To be a high quality and successful club, you need the best people in the industry, and I hope we are going after them regardless of whether they have red and blue in them or not.

Jack Viney Extends Contract Until 2028
North only gave up pick 44 for Luke Parker and Konstanty (who was a pick 20). I'd rather Viney than pick 44. In saying that, he's got to be better. It's not like some of his kicks were under pressure. Even when he has time and space, his kicks inside 50 are terrible.

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
If he does intend to request a trade, I don't think the request would come before the Best & Fairest. His management wouldn't put Kozzy in an awkward situation like that.

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
For those who have not seen it yet: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1217505/inside-trading-key-factor-for-eagles-targets-swan-gets-offer-clubs-meet-for-trade-talks MELBOURNE will not have access to tall forward prospect Tairon Ah-Mu under Next Generation Academy rules when the 17-year-old hits his draft season next year. Ah-Mu is a member of the Demons' NGA program but under the AFL's eligibility criteria, he does not qualify for the club to have any priority access over him as a draftee.

Crows have always been interested, despite the risk. I wonder if they'll throw pick 4 + steak knives at us?

Kozzy Homesick & Wants to Leave?
Honestly, who is going to be next? Rivers? McVee? JVR? Heads have got to roll. Roffey, Pert and/or Richardson

Smart decision. Now he can set himself up for a great pre-season.

TRAINING: Friday 9th August 2024
If he's not allowed to get his heart rate above 110. I wouldn't recommend that he has a match day role. My heart rate hits 180 every turnover.

PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Port Adelaide
Viney looks really sore, will probably require surgery on his shoulder Oliver has 14 pins in his hand, will require surgery Gawn has his ankle/leg issue May has his back/ribs issue Get them all in for surgery/recovery early so that they are fit for the majority of the preseason. And give the AFL minutes to guys in the VFL to see what they have (Laurie, Jefferson, Fullarton, K Brown)

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne
If Kozzy is going to spend time in the middle, he can't continue to avoid contested situations. He goes in one handed and is timid in contested situations. He also lowers his body as he goes into the contest to try and get a head high free, and when the opposition doesn't get sucked into giving away the free, he ends up on the floor with the ball and then rushes his disposal. Needs to cut it out of his game if he is going to continue to get minutes in the midfield.

The Kalani White Thread
It's happened before with Nick Blakey. Was eligible under father-son for Brisbane or North Melbourne, but chose to go to the Swans because he was part of their academy, and that was where he lived/grew up. If it happens, and we end up having lost Mac Andrew (due to changes in NGA) and Kalani White, I agree, it will be tough to swallow.
