  1. It was a different type of game than I was expecting, for a start there were a number of smart moves made to limit their transition game and our defensive game was excellent. We won the contested and clearance game whilst limiting their most dangerous forwards. They still spread at will and racked up numerous marks and possessions but they weren’t cutting us up and scoring heavily from our backline. We matched them around the ground. True they were more efficient going forward than us but they were assisted on a number of occasions by the umpiring fraternity with some technical fouls that were only paid their way. Our backline lead by May and Lever were brilliant, our mids were strong and hard at it, our forwards had the opportunity to win it, despite their favoured treatment and we failed by one miserable point. We watched the game at my daughters house the nine of us and it was so noisy, happy, angry and then a little shattering as we silently watched them celebrate the win. Still we all finally agreed that the day really was more than football, it was about Neale, MND the Big Freeze, the occasion but Jeez we should have won that.👍🥲🙏❤️💙
  2. 6 - Steven May 5 - Clayton Oliver 4 - maximus Gawnski 3 - Christian Petracca 2 - Daniel Disco Turner - what a gun 1 - Bayley Fritsch- should have won it Then Lingers, Pickett, Bowsa, Riv, Spaz, Chin and Bison. Boys had their chances and pushed the pies right to the final seconds of the game. So disappointing and felt like we were screwed.🥲
  3. Big Thanks to Ghostwriter, Kev Martin, Harvey Wallbanger, for braving the inclement weather conditions, great effort and all posters and special comments. Can’t believe that they still haven’t released the teams for tomorrow’s Big Game at 5:26 on Sunday night. What’s the big secret??? Go Dees.❤️💙👍😁
  4. It happened quickly Monno but from memory the ball came in and neither player made a move for it, it bounced between them and was taken by a Pie player who ran in and kicked a goal and they both looked at each other like WT……,,,!!! It was at a critical time in the game and gave them a bit of belief that they could snatch the win. Strange.!!
  5. So true Demonstone but they chose to pay most of Pies but failed to pay similar ones for the Casey boys, very frustrating indeed maybe they were trying to help the Pies achieve the AFL write up. lol.!!!
  6. It was a hard watch but even harder to look away, I thought that they would overrun us but Casey are very gritty and appear to have found their belief, even with so many outs, they never dropped their heads, what happened with Adam’s and Hore gave the Pies a bit of a run on and a bit of an edge until Billings and Cross snuffed them out. Go Casey.
  7. Nice goal to GW ‘s boy Lukar.😁👍
  8. Good goal to Laurie via Mentha.
  9. Sure are Dazzle with AJ and Laurie out that we know of and Culley, Howes, Jefferson, Tholstrup and JvR AFL listed, must want these boys to be part of our biggest game of the year in some aspect.
  10. That was also one of my beef’s last year SONS but I now feel that we have gone from a media famine to a media feast, I am having trouble keeping up with our MFC website with all the information coming through. Not sure who is in charge but they deserve a big pat on the back.😁👍
  11. Ha ha Harley Read would turn most young players inside out he is an exceptionally talented player. I look at it slightly differently, would Blake Howes improve our bottom 6-8 players, I suggest that he would and therefore should be in the 23.😁👍
  12. Just my thoughts but after reading through this thread there are some very logical reasons to believe that Kozzie is already home. Kozzie’s spiritual home maybe in rural WA but like so many Australians we were drawn to the “big smoke” from our country birthplaces by necessity and reward and now call Melbourne home.
  13. Thanks WW what a great pickup with the two Robert’s together, very poignant now. 1985, we were living in Wantirna South with a 4 and 1 Yo.
  14. Thanks George OTO, 54,702 we have now surpassed our 2021 Membership total but well down on our dizzy heights of 2022-2024 numbers.😢🥲
  15. Thanks DD we were statistically as poor as we looked, we made the Saints look like a champion team and yet we could have still won the game had we kicked straight, how crazy is that.
  16. DeeZone replied to jnrmac's topic in Melbourne Demons
Me to Eladiablo14 and not just Gawny, I always watched Lloyde, Neita, Lockett, Jacko, Lyon they were totally focused they followed a process and nailed all their easy shots and a large percentage of the more difficult shots, this spinning the ball to me is a distraction from what you are trying to achieve. Does my head in.
  17. Thanks once again Ghostwriter, Kev Martin and all posters and special comments, I imagine that they would have been a bit flat today, not helped by the terrible news of Jack Viney breaking his hand whilst training in Alice Springs over the weekend. I heard Milkshake on radio he said that all they will do this week is goal kicking practise and then on face book Neita said he’s going to get Swarta and the real Whizz together to teach our boys how to kick, if only.😁👍
  18. Yes there were plenty in Dee jumpers when we were up there, but the camera kept playing to the Saints group near the big gum tree, every time that they did something, which was often, I didn’t see them pan to us much at all.😁👍
  19. Thanks Andy, George, Binman and Jeff White, that was some Podcast, greatly appreciated how good to have one of our greats on. How sharp is Jeff and what a memory he has, that was so informative and entertaining. Also enjoyed the second half with your insights into Sunday’s very poor result after seeing us running on top of the ground the previous two weeks and then dishing up such a tired looking effort on Sunday felt quite crushing, so appreciated your thoughts on the causes but I think we are all flummoxed on our pathetic kicking.
  20. First time Saints have beaten us since 2019 and we had to kick 21 points for them to beat us. Kicking is deplorable.!!!
  21. 6 - Max just 5 - Steven May 4 - Chandler 3 - Disco 2 - Tracca 1 - Judd McVee Jeez 4.7 & 0.8 in our best two quarters, was it just me or did our boys appear fatigued and slowish today in perfect conditions????
  22. Thanks Wheelo from those stats we should win but our lousy kicking says NO.
  23. We lead them in every Kpi except tackles, 60+ more possessions, let’s hope it all comes together in the last how good is Jeffo playing.
  24. Another big thanks to Ghostwriter, Harvey Wallbanger, Kev Martin and all posters and special comments, a lot going on behind the scenes today with Vines not getting through the protocols. Good luck JV and good to see Bailey Laurie in the 23, good luck Bill and the whole team up at Traeger Park. My wife and I were up there in ‘22 when we won our last game and Kozzie put on a one man demolition kicking six goals against Power. We flew home on the plane with the Port team and supporters and changed planes in Adelaide, great trip, great win and great experience in the NT.👍😁
  25. Unsurprisingly Jordon Lewis was the only one that thought that we could still make the eight, good man Jordie.👍😁
