Dawn of a new Era - Paul Guerra article 18.10.2025

Must agree F and T I was confused by all the negative spin spin spin so went back and reread the article. One of the best and most Positive articles on MFC in four years, what’s not to like, to spin a opposition former captain to come to us in 36 hrs was exceptional, former coach and recently former coach at Saints would have played a big part in winning him over. Thanks for explaining the details Mr Paul “War” Guera.

Hate to say it but I’m hoping we end up thanking Judd for providing the opportunity for CJ to get to our club, wouldn’t that be a great result for us all.😁👍

		Farewell Taj Woewodin

Feel sorry for Taj, was hoping that he would make the grade but unfortunately not to be, you really need to be knocking the door down at Casey to stay on the list. Good luck young man hope you find your niche in football.

		Farewell Clayton Oliver

Agree gs_1905 salary structuring seems way out of whack imagine in business your on a great salary and you want to move to one of your rival companies and expect your current contract to be maintained. As soon as you want to move your contact should be null and void, also they need to be structured better to protect the employee more, seems like we are being penalised for no fault of our own. Equal responsibility for both parties. AFL and clubs need to review the whole contract process with Players association.

		Farewell Christian Petracca

Hard to say goodbye to another former superstar of the club, thank you Christian for all your early fun years and 2021-2023 you were so strong, skilled absolutely elite, you worked so hard and you were so crazy in the zone on 25/09/21, helping to deliver us the holy grail and picking up a Premiership medal and Our Only “Norm Smith Medal”, what a champion you were. Good luck and good fortune to both you and Bella going forward. Fortunately Suns don’t get to play on the G often so won’t have to watch you in Foreign colours.🥲

		Farewell Clayton Oliver

It is difficult to say goodbye to someone that you have loved watching for such a long time in the Red and Blue will we ever see such a Star again burning so brightly for so long then flickering out and falling to the ground, you ask how can it be that this former mega star is now worth only a 3rd rounder and we are still paying for his earlier brilliance. Clayton, Clarry Choo Choo is no more, but we can all remember 2021 Bang, Bang,Bang, Bang.💥

		Grading the Trade Week

For me it is an A, Steele and Mihocek help replenish some of the leadership that we lost with Brayshaw, Brown and Neal-Bullen. We managed to find homes for our two want-a-ways, got Steele for Clayton and 3 firsts for CP5, we stood our ground with Suns. In my mind nothing could really compensate us for our two former champions but as mentioned previously Tim Lamb and the Recruitment team have gone some way to pulling us back to relevance with the addition of Heath and Jiath we have filled two gaping holes and now we can enjoy the draft this year and next. Our trade period - considering our starting point - Brilliant.👍

		Welcome to Demonland: Jack Steele

Also very happy with picking up Jack Steele, I feel that Jack and Brody will both help bolster the leadership gap that has existed since we lost Gus, BBB and ANB. Leaders are undervalued in the Hurley burly of AFL but we all know how important good - great leaders are in business and sport and when you couple it with good citizen / character types the whole team benefits, particularly the young as many have pointed out in this thread. Jack Steele a real Steal.👍😁

		Farewell Clayton Oliver

We are our own worse enemies, we keep looking at the same AFL media reports and getting angrier about the expected result. We all have a fair inkling of what is going to happen yet continue to try and barter the result. I have gone through at least four of the stages and will have to accept the final result. We have no control on the inevitable, so I have stopped beating myself and the club up, whatever Clayton did or didn’t do has pushed the club to the unthinkable.

		Bailey Humphrey

That’s because Tim doesn’t work in isolation, he has his say but it has to be agreed by the recruitment team.

		Farewell Clayton Oliver

Possibly our saddest day in 60 years.

		Farewell Clayton Oliver

Thanks LH for explaining it in detail, the Tracc contract will save us a min of $4.8m and Claz approx $3.5m over the five year period, we have to be able to hold onto our young guns and attract new players through the door . As you have pointed out this action along with natural attrition will make our List Management a whole lot easier to manage going forward.

		The List Manager Tim Lamb

Let’s face it we were all smitten with Clarry Choo Choo at the time and would have been disgusted with the club had we lost him to another club. We had no reason to believe his form would not continue in a similar vein to his previous seven years, [censored] happens unfortunately. How could we have known that Clayton would go off the rails, Gus would be knocked unconscious and retired and that Tracc would be so badly injured that he fell out of love with the club in a two year period. It’s not the clubs fault it is just mind numbing tragic.
