I find that interesting re the noise. I was Level 3 & the crowd absolutely drowned out the “booing” of Grundy & I thought were very vocal. However overall I don’t think we are particularly “loud” supporters. Quite possibly because we watch the game unlike Collingwood who just turn up with the objective of making as much noise as possible. There was also the odd seat free on that level which I’ve never seen at most games let alone a big game so agree with crowd size .

If we had lots of “needs” in our team …I’d agree. But we don’t…so I’d absolutely go for him

When questioned about he break ..Maxy said “we don’t get a typical break but they make it up by 10 day breaks either side …after Geelong …we don’t play till the following Sunday ( paraphrasing) I may be wrong but feel we didn’t get a genuine bye last year either

What about the JJ tackle on Nathan Murphy. Both arms free but he bangs his head on ground & gets free. Both Goodwin & Longmuir said on 360 that this is becoming more prevalent

I mean that’s hardly earth shattering news. My point is …he earned his place in the side …he wasn’t overlooked by the coaching team & I very much hope he can get a good run at it because he can be a very valuable player for us ….

In fairness he was injured for most of the first part of the season & then had to get game fitness through Casey. Petty out gave him his chance …

To sit at the game & watch our team dismantle the Pies game plan was literally a thing of beauty. You start to understand the tinkering of the players..game plan etc. Goodwin is coaching a team to be accountable against many different game plans. Also just like other sides did to us when they saw our game plan dismantled ..other teams will take note. Pies will be an interesting watch after the bye.

Watching the game live at Optus (& I acknowledge that when you’re top playing bottom your intensity is probably not as high) WC made them look pretty ordinary over a couple of quarters. They were always going to run over them but to me…if you make it hard for Moore & Miochec …we’ll go a long way to winning the game . Cox was literally about a metre taller than his oppo defender (Barass & Hurn were out) & he’s pretty good at getting a free kick so putting some time into him is a must . He’s my most loathed Pies player. I’m pretty bullish about Monday …

I agree with everything you say …unfortunately no-one else will change their minds and go …but yes..I’ll be going ..

I do wish we made a lot more noise though. You can be loud without being the moronic type of pies supporter. It def influences umpires when the crowd is in full voice. At the Freo game their very few supporters were extremely loud. I know for the fact the club acknowledges that we’re “too quiet” as a club. You often see on the screen at home games …messages asking supporters to make a noise .

I absolutely love the Pod & would be more than happy if you tell us how good we were . We were by no means perfect…that comes closer to finals time but apart from putting scoreboard pressure on …there were so many positives in that game .

And to all the previous posters who said he was no hope …maybe you can understand why more “positive “ posters get so sick of the negativity. Well deserved JVR ..

If you do a bit of a deep dive into the Pies games ..who they’ve beaten ..where they’ve beaten them & the form that team was in when they beat them …it’s not mind blowing. i.e. Geelong & Port at the G when both teams were very ordinary at the beginning of the season etc. After seeing them live against WC …they certainly looked very ordinary when WC put pressure on them. If we improve a little more especially in our forward connection we should have a win.

Absolutely agree re Smith on Moore. Was at the WC v Pies game & Moore is crucial to them & their run off half back.

Maybe we just trust our fitness team 🤔

I was actually at the game, Pies were great in first qrt ..Eagles were one man on bench from first qrt & then inevitably were run over in the last ..they were done. Pies looked very average in a good half of a game so I just wonder if they’re feeling the pinch a bit. But don’t get too carried away by that last qrt.

I bang on about their unfair advantage every year. Less travel …more MCG games ..more prime time games ..the bottom line is the AFL is all about the $. It’s hard for teams to get more exposure & attract more members when the AFL favours the “big 4”

And why is that …maybe a good test of our depth ..

The one thing you don’t acknowledge is when you bring in a VFL player he is then surrounded by AFL players . Then you can judge them …
