  1. The only thing that worries me & especially in such an important game ...it seems to take a half at least for that VFL player to pick up the pace of the game ..i.e. JKH last week. Different if you’ve only been down there for a week or two (Vince) ..Tyson has spent a fair chunk in the VFL & his first game back was pretty ordinary but better the following week......Spargo was definitely much better against the Bulldogs than Freo.....not sure if we can afford that this week ?
  2. Don’t agree at all ...they would always give their best but as we always know & for whatever reason ..life ..footy etc doesn’t always mean it works out at 100%
  3. Gerard Healy made a very astute comment re Frosty at the Freo v dees game. “You work with what you got” and that says it all.... Frosty isn’t a Lever.....no-one is...Hannan isn’t a Viney etc .....however they are what they are ....& we work with what we have.....I can’t think of anyone in the 2’s that can do any better .....maybe Vanders when fit .....so let’s not expect Lever & Viney like efforts...they give their all .....just get around them .... let’s echo our esteemed co-captain Jones who did a great effort on “On the Couch” who said precisely that.....no player goes out on a ground and doesn’t give 100% ....we are so critical after such a great win !!
  4. I did read in breakdown of free kicks given to all teams ....Melb received the most goals from frees in their forward 50...(courtesy ofHerald Sun)
  5. Gerard Healey would disagree......absolutely rates him whilst also acknowledging that he is only 18 with a lot of learnings & improvement to come. Geez we “dump” on our players pretty early in the piece!!
  6. Didn’t a similar thing happen to Riewoldt against Adelaide this year ? Big hit ...coughing up blood ...concerns against flying home ...played the following week & was probably the reason they won
  7. I suggest you go and learn some more “new stuff’ & then post some meaningful insightful relevant”stuff” !!
  8. BAsic ...average expectations...hmmmm
  9. We lost by 10 points.....take out the dodgy umpiring factor (shouldn’t have been in that situation for it to matter) & even if 25% of those forward entries were delivered with eyes lowered & correctly .....if Hogan clunked maybe two marks & if we didn’t have a spate of injuries all at once .....a lot of the above comments wouldn’t be made......our backline was let down by our forward entries.....you may have also noticed that when a team beats us they are now considered premiership favourites so as a team we are actually rated. Opposition coaches are putting a lot of work into us & that is new for us so each time we lose we also learn . It is no surprise that the teams that have beaten us are just a little more experienced & assured at the crucial times ......not necessarily more talented but their top end talent is generally in the 25+ echelon. As a supporter I am excited that we are now seen by opposition coaches as someone to beat....I rate their opinion 100% more than any media hype Am I worried we aren’t going to get there ......absolutely not. We have truckloads of talent...YOUNG....talent & it will take some time. I don’t want to be a Bulldogs ...pinch one & then wallow in mediocrity for the next few years. If you can be bothered to look over the history of the “great” teams it is generally 7 or so years in the making before they make it but then pretty much all of them are still contending finals today. That is the type of club I want to support & I am extremely confident we will get there.
  10. I think we are good enough to be 7th or 8th & that finals experience is needed to help with our development .....however I agree that the media & def several posters have unrealistic expectations of a still very young albeit talented side. 2019 will be our year to be taken seriously....
  11. Gary pert was moved on for one reason & one reason only ( think Simon Lethlean) ...you can state whatever “passionate” Collingwood supporter etc or whatever else you have heard but this is 100% fact. The filth will be “filthy” because love them or hate them...(i’m In the latter).....he is an amazing operator...well done Dee’s !!!
  12. More than happy to see him go & not necessarily for his onfield performances!!!
  13. In theory..yes.... I still felt they looked flat & Viney alluded to that in his presser. Similar traits to what they displayed in the Bullies game.
  14. I mentioned in a previous post after the Bulldogs game that even though we won...we looked tired. I thought it was our toughest win because we had to grind it out & didn’t look anywhere as “fluid”as previous weeks. We started the game flat today as well & never really recovered. Six wins in a row is an impressive effort especially given one was in Alice Springs & then the next at Etihad after a short break. A few players kept us in the game today but an enormous amount didn’t have any impact at all. I’m not calling for wholesale changes but Pedersen who has been a great servant is done and Tyson def also deserves another go. Also happy to try some of our young talls. I am under no illusion that we are a work in progress with so much to learn & look forward to seeing what they bring against Port.
  15. Collingwood get plenty of “Marquee” games. I’m not in any hurry to agree to this. Agree wholeheartedly with PJ’s comments
  16. Don’t agree with this at all. Goodwin has created a team that is definitely not reliable on one player. I think the only player who could have a massive loss for us would be Gawn. Losing players like Lever certainly impacts our team but we are so team orientated now with players moving in to different positions and re-setting the game plan when things aren’t working. Point in fact when Lever went off & we adjusted pretty quickly & won in a whole new way. I was very close to the game on Saturday & actually thought the players looked really tired ( did anyone else notice that) but with the 22 all playing their roles ..they ground out a win. I actually thought it was one of our better wins given where we had played last week..Lever going off...Melksham struggling with an ankle & Tim Smith struggling with ankle & sore neck. We have a lot of depth & I for one am excited to see someone else get a chance. I am gutted for Lever but he’s only 22 & will be part of our club for years.
  17. See the trouble is you have no idea what happened & so jump to Ill informed conclusions. The thing is ....it was “just an affair” with a consenting adult ....not really our business ...only affects the people involved and they have to live with it and the repercussions. Don’t care if he comes to the Dees or not ...I just want the best possible person & if it is him ...then so be it. He is a human being who made a gross error of judgement ....not for us too judge & yes I do know what happened & can categorically state it was what it was so you can throw your “conspiracy” theory out the window.
  18. Well said ....know for a fact that St Kilda is over the moon with someone of his ilk .....he is very well credentialed & was I believe understudy to Gil
  19. Re-read my post .......I am aware that if we aren’t told the reason then a player is fair game for criticism....I will not repeat what I know as it’s not my information to pass on ....however there is an extremely good reason & has nothing to do with Jayden ‘s application or desire for the footy & that is all I will say on the matter !
  20. There is an extremely good reason why this has occurred....so temper your criticism & I am sure the club..player & medical staff will get this right. Sometimes certain ailments are not obvious!!
  21. After Round 3 I couldn’t say with any certainty that any current side will be top 4 . So much angst after our win against Brisbane yet they nearly knocked off Port on Port’s deck without their Captain....Richmond got towelled up by an undermanned Adelaide ....many fancied teams are winless & other maligned teams are doing better. What it says to me that it is only Round 3 & pretty much most teams will improve & some won’t. We have incredible depth ...lots of new players & at the moment it is all about getting used to each other.....different running patterns etc .....with continued game time players confidence & abilities improve & there will be very exciting times ahead. We won’t get it right all the time but we will get it right more often than not. With so many young players with so much improvement and growing to come ....I fail to see how you can state already that we won’t be top 4. Until it is a mathematical impossibility.....the sky is the limit for me.
  22. Just heard on 3AW ...big rumour Tarrant out & Majak in ?
  23. It was interesting hearing Jono Brown on radio today “raving”about Jordan’s game....I believe Jones also “lauded” him in his presser. In the eye of the beholder” I guess ?
  24. Such ridiculous statements ...you are not the coach or coaching panel..have no idea what they want implemented behind closed doors ...we have heaps of improvement to make & with a team full of young players that is what we will get. We won the game ..we are seeing a team that had new set ups & new players & two very important players missing ...learning to work & gell together. I am happy as a supporter to watch this team develop & improve ...it’s a very long season so let’s save our angst for when it is genuinely deserved...we are in the 8 at the end of Rd 2 ....pretty happy with that !!
